I understand you're disappointed about not being able to visit Machu Pichu, I really do. But...Machu Picchu is one of those places that is being "loved to death," essentially diminishing the very thing that draws visitors there in the first place. Add to the fact that it is over-crowded, it is also grossly overpriced. Peru is literally dripping in ruins, many of them comparable to Machu Pichu and all of them less crowded, less expensive and a much better experience. As a seasoned traveler who has spent the last 50 years visiting South America my advice is to seek out those alternatives and leave Machu Picchu to the flabby, rich tourists on big box package tours. You'll have a much better experience at places like Kuelap or Choquequirao.
Cancel motorized transport to Machu Picchu. If people had to hike up there, they would appreciate the place more while at the same time limit the masses to a manageable number.
It's easier to bump start in second gear high, just saying. Less work to turn over the motor, and faster turn over. Absolutely wonder videos, top quality real experience. Thankyou for sharing

Howdy! Been enjoying y’all’s channel for a bit now. I thought I would mention Ive had a Walboro 255 retrofit in my E30 for the past 8 years / 60k miles. It is a very loud fuel pump but has been reliable for me. Knock offs are a problem with these fuel pumps but I wouldn’t let the loudness scare you, they’re notorious for it.

Chinook Airship. Sky country, unreal. 4800 mt, wow... Lots of Mate de Coca?...How is the 5VZ behaving? oh, you did have problems...what was it? Soaked plugs sound like rich mixture...confused sensors? MAF? Bad Fuel? Ok, pump is sus. Not a Toyota, pump, I remember. That issue happens to almost all of us around here, it's an ongoing battle with bad parts, fuel quality and altitude. Good thing you traveled tandem, almost always the best idea, with reliable people. Navel of the World. Protest is a fact of life in Latin America. Even worse if they are not allowed by gvt. pressure release valve. The worse part of Cusco is not being tempted by wonderful, heavy food, and sticking to recommended soups to avoid altitude sickness. Staying with the Pisca Andina (Chicken Cilantro egg soup), leave the amazing Pisco for when you come down. But DO have a Pisco Sour. Great attitude, leave Machu Pichu for a better time, a reason to go back. Visited the path less traveled. Kudos. Impressive filming, professional quality. Wow. BTW, I've been working on a 1GR this weeks (Fortuner). I found that it has tiny oil ducts, really bad for longevity, specially when oil quality is iffy. Still great but, probably, shorter life. I am starting to agree with you, the iron block 5VZ might be top dog for a a Hilux/Taco size car. I do love my L6, F engines, but 10-14MPG is an issue for such long trips. Darn, engineers fix one problem but create a new one with each revision. I believe that your astute choice proved itself. Except for the fuel delivery/management system, but 4800 is extreme...still VERY impressive. I will keep a close watch on what choice you make. I'll keep my eyes peeled and ask engineers for ideas, if I find something Ill post it here. Your almost out of continent, but the last bit still long and amazing. Blessings, safety and happy trails.

Another great video. It doesn't make sense to me that if it was flooded with fuel that bump starting it would make any difference. Your regulator and injectors should be controlling the amount of fuel into the engine. Maybe try some fuel injector cleaner or something?

The mountains were so black it looked like you had edited the film to remove color from just that portion of the shot. I really do know it's no longer film, but I'm old, so it will always be film. The cities there are so loud and colorful and contrast the countryside so much, it's shocking. Peru does seem to be a must-see destination and it's too bad about the protest. As Hamlet's mother would say "The lady doth protest too much, methinks". It's seems like the entire world protests too much, but then once again, I'm old.
I think that has been our favourite part about Peru. The contrast between altitude and populated areas. One minute you’re surrounded by nothing but Alapacas, the next you’re shoulder to shoulder in cobblestone streets. It’s a beautiful contrast indeed.
Nice one, sorry about MP. The protests basically killed our 2023 here in Cusco. My company, Tambopata Travel, works with rainforest experiences out of Puerto Maldonado - pandemic meant 2 years no income, then recovered a bit, then the protests last year. Luckily that protests you gound, aboyt privatising MP ticket sales, only lasted a couple of days & all sorted. Pity you couldn't do a 4 or 5-day rainforest experience at a lodge out of Puerto, amazing flocks of macaws etc & we have a 40% jaguar viewing rate in the national reserve up the Tambopata River - next time maybe? Like the 300% humidity 😅

Peru has many different kinds of backgrounds. Standard transmissions not only more fun to drive. Bomb starting can be done when failed to start. Had a 1994 Toyota 4runner 5speed with 22re. Had to bomb start that a few times. Its also getting hotter. Not going to Brazil?

Hello! Thank you so much. We’re using the mobile subscription? We think? Haha we’re using the cheap one, not the mobile, global one. We changed subscriptions when we came to South America. Ie: we cancelled subscription in Panama and sold it to ourselves to start a new one in Colombia.
