Josh said it was easy to ignore his symptoms of testicular cancer. He was experiencing back pain, abdominal pain, and chest pain, and in a job where he lifts things a lot, Josh thought he was just in his head. Even after a routine yearly physical for his job, Josh described his symptoms to the doctor, and they prescribed him with an inhaler.
When Josh discovered a mass on his testicle, he still didn’t think it would be cancer. After an ultrasound of the mass and a CT scan, they found over 20 lesions on Josh’s lungs. He would have surgery to remove the mass, and that’s when Josh was diagnosed with Stage 3A testicular cancer.
In this cancer vlog, Josh describes the grueling moments during BEP chemotherapy. He also brings insight to how there needs to be more conversations surrounding testicular cancer and how no one should be embarrassed to talk about it.

Wow, very well said. I am a mom of 64, I lost my mom to lung cancer, taking her to the ER and have them say, she is only dehydrated and me arguing with the ER doctor, that there is something else going on, do a scan or run tests. Too many other people I know have gone to doctors only to be told, "you are too young". NO, nobody is too young to get any cancer, after losing two friends in their early 30's to breast cancer, this back 30 years ago, something needs to change in the medical world. We know our bodies, so anyone who reads this, keep advocating for yourself and your family. Prayers for you Josh, keep doing what you can holistically and that will help tremendously, but push the medical people more if you being to have any inkling again.

Hello Josh! Thank you for sharing your story and getting the message out there for men to do self checks. Being a woman, I did not realize that this is something that is not typically recommended by a doctor. My cousin ( in his mid 50’s) had this cancer and was successfully treated. Best of luck with your journey. I am sure you are saving at least one life by making this video. ❤

i dont know at what point they lose their humanity... if in the begining of their carreers they could get really sick themselves i bet they would do better job because it would come from some place real and compassionate. i dont know what is the point to do this work if they dont care or listen to people.maybe its just money. Im glad men talk about this, my big brother had scare about this same problem some years back but it endet up being an infection. it was hard to speak for him about it, but i think its important to spread the knowelege and educate people. He is brave and this will help many men to actually take care of their own menhood.

@@carolgosch3663Welllll we cross our fingers. Some of it is health insurance companies' rules--they don't want to pay for tests. For example my doc ordered an abdominal CT and ins rejected it until I got an ultrasound. Doc didn't tell me that (his bad), didn't order an ultrasound. A month later we're looking for a compression fracture in my spine and a mass in my abdomen. MRI, baby. 😂

i've just been in remission for a few months from stage three prostate cancer. Even though our cancers are different, it's still cancer. And I've been there where people had told me to ignore it or this is the cancer I want to have if you're going to have cancer. That just sounds horrible to me who wants cancer. Take all cancer seriously and if your doctors are taking it lightly or you feel you're being gaslit get another opinion. It's your life. I appreciate your video, and help me to clear my head of recent concerns and I do just what you're talking about. I get out in nature as much as possible and just explore and walk around. The world is at my fingertips and I want to be present. You're inspiring your charismatic you articulate so well. I hope your cancer is gone forever and it never comes back. Through my cancer journey I lost two friends to metastatic disease. One of those friends did assisted suicide in Switzerland recently . You're good people. More power to you .Kristo ❤

Josh unfortunately missed the first sign probably because the lump was very small. There is no way that there was not a lump and the first sign of the cancer was the low back pain and chest pains. Most often, the first symptom of testicular cancer is a lump on the testicle, or the testicle becomes swollen or larger. Symptoms of advanced testicular cancer Low back pain, from cancer spread to the lymph nodes (bean-sized collections of immune cells) in back of the belly. Shortness of breath, chest pain, or a cough (even coughing up blood) may develop from cancer spread in the lungs.

I’ve had health anxiety most of my life. I often thought something was brewing in me. I was wrong - until I found a breast lump. I thought that lump was benign, but I was wrong again: It was cancer. I got excellent treatment, and it’s now twenty-five years since my diagnosis. So, the one time I actually HAD cancer was the one time I thought what I found was benign.

My first cancer I was 66, the next 72. I felt I had lived life and could face whatever came. I have had surgery twice and radiation. I take a chemo drug by mouth to preent recurrence. The thing that made me mad is that there is was taking young men and women. Young moms and dads. There are plenty of us older ones willing to take this on for them. So unfair. Bless your heart but I am glad you are as well as you are at this point. I was told by a chemo patient who was in her little cubby eating the most delicious smelling tangerines that she swore it was the only thing that helped the metallic taste.

You have a great deal of wisdom and I wish you continued good health and a joyful life. The only thing I will offer you is this: I’m a 17+ year stage 3C ovarian cancer survivor. For about 14 years, I was tested very 3 months for my blood marker. Initially, pre-mychart days, I saw so anxious awaiting my results. This fades with time. Humans, I don’t think, can live in a sustained state of fear. The other thing to ask about is if the Signatera test might be a good fit for you; I still get that done twice a year.
