A clarifying and powerful lecture from Alan Watts on life. Original audio sourced from: Alan Watts, Inevitable Ecstasy

“When death comes, it's just like winter. We don't say, "There ought not to be winter." That the winter season, when the leaves fall and the snow comes, is some kind of defeat, something which we should hold out against. No. Winter is part of the natural course of events. No winter, no summer. No cold, no heat.”

T&H also films and releases original interviews with iconic people who have experienced successes, while also persevering through life's highs and lows. We look forward to sharing more of these perspectives and insights.
Our hope with these videos is to push your thinking. As Alan Watts said “No one is more dangerously insane than one who is sane all the time: he is like a steel bridge without flexibility, and the order of his life is rigid and brittle.” - Alan Watts.

Not so wise when, there is no death. Only a transition from one realm to another. We are not here to die. We are here to live. We choose our departure. We have been programmed into believing that we must die one day...

Once again, Alan's wisdom and eloquent way of explaining such deep philosophies and beliefs about what it means to live, to be human in our fullest form brings bittersweet tears. And yet, there's a tremendous sense of relief in knowing and understanding that everything he shares is the truth, and it's an incredible thing to experience. 💖💖

The moment your body dies 'you" at last become one with the whole realm of being which is the whole universe and whatever else there is. So that which is afraid in the face of death is your ego, a false sense of yourself and an illusion created by the sensation that there's a thinker apart from the thoughts that are happening in our brains. The important thing here is that there is absolutely nothing wrong AT ALL in being afraid, feeling hopeless and not even in losing it completely. This point is very very very important because if you got this you finally stop beating yourself up for the feelings you feel. The dilemma is this: we try so desperately to escape these seemingly bad emotions that the very intention of running away from them is creating the suffering. It's never the emotion itself but our urge of escaping it and the thoughts that are attached to this process. If you sit there and watch fear it's just a sensation in the body. But we trained ourselves in rationalizing these feelings with stories we make up in our minds. If we encounter a terrific situation we make up a whole story in our head about that situation just because we do not want to feel the feelings. The ridiculous thing is that if we just watch the fear, without the need of it going away, it will go away. So instead of telling ourselves stories and trying to rationalize what has happened to us and artificially keeping the things that did happen alive in our heads, which is the essence of trauma, we could just sit there and watch these sensations in the body until they go away and some other, maybe more pleasant feelings arise. But no one has ever told us and unfortunately we're living in a society which implies that running away from suffering and seeking pleasure instead is the way to life. If you lived this illusionary way for decades tho, it's not that easy at first watching the mess inside us but eventually we'll discovery that none of it was as serious as we thought it was in the first place. But people much rather stay in the illusion and consider all of this nonsense because it's insulting to ones own ego to admit that it's you yourself that creates all the suffering in your life.

@@quarkCharm thanks a lot! Every now and then I get sucked into the Illusion again and i think writing it down and communicating it to Others helps me to remind myself how Things really are. How they are tho is quite unbelievable which is why IT IS so important to remind ourselves until we embody it and dont forget anymore.

I remember the peculiar feeling when I accepted my death, as I thought I had mere minutes left. The peace I felt, and wonder about how I would meet the wall of blazing destruction I thought was coming, the almost childish joy I felt about dying in a spectacular way. I am lucky to have that experience, and its effect still persists in my life today, as strongly as that day years ago✌️💚🖖

My brother feared death so much he said he wanted to die asleep and a 16 oz bottle of liquid methadone. Whereas I have always wanted to die awake to be aware of , to know , to be conscious of it , almost had my chance last October 4 with sudden heart failure in a Wal-Mart parking lot but a you female ambulance worker brought me back and one more time after that where both time I perceived I was wonding around the universe. It was a wonderful experience as I had no fear. We are all part of the same thing it seems

Since a teenager, I marveled about the teacher Kubler-Ross who wrote the book on Death and Dying. I wanted to hold classes on this topic for my family so we would not fear death, but they thought it a bit morbid 😢 Having cancer, I understand now more than ever how important this topic is ❤

In the natural world I live in death is only movement to the next challenge. I am ready to go, why should I remain when so many I love have gone. Life is painful, death is a well earned rest... and then renewal as something else? Pure energy perhaps, this is what I know in my heart.

A life of torture and terror, in which people betray you and everything you hold holy, a life that is made a hell by others, where hope is killed with false hopes, stupid ideas/ideals, a world that actively opposes truth and all other good and beautiful things, a world where this idiocy (like any other criminal idiocy) passes as wisdom is more horrifying than the prospect of suffering and being afraid for 5-10 minutes, or even an hour, or even a year of actively dying. You don’t know what torture and being afraid mean.

I don't fear death. I long for it these days. I pray everyday for healing from Jesus and the angels. For 5 yrs I've been praying for healing and nothing.I've been in bad health for 5 yrs because of covid. It ravaged my body inside and out. The medication the doctors give me is so toxic to my system that I can't take them. I was a very active person. I exercised and was at the weight I was supposed to be. Now I can't workout and thus I've gained a lot of weight! I want to go to a medical intuitive but Medicare will not pay for it!! I can't work so I have no money. Sometimes, I don't have a place to live. I'm so tired and just don't want to go on. But the I see my children and g'children and Jesus in my minds eye. I see the hurt in their eyes and the disappointment. I just can't do that to them. I just don't know what to do anymore. I'm trying to hang on but I don't know how much longer.........

Knowing that I am happy to present my feelings in front of my valuable personality, His Highness's very close approach to death and His Highness's point of view, knowing more understanding and recognition, I express my understanding with the second stanza of the poem. I present that "Having no wings, but has the power of fly". And the first stanza is said as follows: "What comes from the heart has an effect". That is, personally, "Death has such a beautiful nearness and how distant and indifferent it is."🪔
