I started in 2.7 originally really wanting Mona, until I played Yelans trial. All my primos went to her and I couldn’t imagine my Genshin experience without her😭
my main is hutao..whatever unit that could buff my hutao i will pull that char without hesitation..btw her E is so helpful during exploring dessert sumeru..pair with sayu = unlimited sprint

Love this. I decided to spend some money on Yelan after I lost my 50/50. Wasn't cheap, but for me, it was worth every penny. She immediately became my favorite character, and I already had a very well built Xingqiu. I'm not anywhere near qualified to suggest that Yelan is a must pull...but to anyone on the fence trying to decide, do it. I absolutely promise you wont regret it.

I was convinced to skip - and I did, but after that knowing how much I loved her in the Chasm quest and the trial, I have no idea how my helmet stayed on. Did I cry when she came back this year with Shenhe whom I had also been waiting for? Yes. Yes I did. Did I wish for them both regardless? ABSOLUTELY! Yelan is just so much fun even if she didn't do any real numbers the skill dash is probably the most fun I've ever had with a character. Probably why I'm a fan of Lynette is that she has that same kind of dash to her. It's a fun mechanic that I adore! Yelan is definitely wonderful and deserving of all the love!

Yelan really got me because when I first seen her I used to ask what was all the fuss about, then when I ran her in the trial I knew I was going to pull for her no matter what and I did: got her last night and I am not disappointed at all. I'm going start start building her up instead of my Mona asap!!!
I really love her gameplay but there are so many characters that will be coming next patch that interest me more with the same element 🥺🥺 so maybe after i have the ones i'm interested in i will give a try again in her next banner 🥰🥰🥰
yess even though I love her lots and she's my absolute favourite to play, I don't think she's "essential", ESPECIALLY if you already have XQ! I think Yelan will come back because she's quite popular and probably sells fairly well heh
Yelan was my first 5 star back in 3.4 when I had only been playing a month. Agree with everything you say about how fun (and powerful) she is. She is so good in the overworld that that was the biggest reason why I went for her C1 this patch (that and the fact I can switch to a non-ER weapon with it). Both times I’ve had to spend about 150 wishes to get her but I would do it again in a heartbeat.
I almost never switch her out of my overworld teams for long because without her I feel so slow 😂 Congrats on her c1, in my biased opinion she's fully worth the pulls!
My main hang up is that I've farmed for Childe, still intend to get him in the next banner in a couple of weeks and she requires the same resources as him. I'd have to do the Oceanid fight so many more times and that is...a thought to behold after having done it so many times thus far lol
Here is what I have learned. supports > main dps with great supports you can make any main dps shine. always pull on supports, dont always pull on main dps banners
For me it’s also combat style which is so far more important than numbers or whatever else. If I like the combat style I’ll manage to make a team with the character in question and will not be struggling building them to their highest potential on my account. With Yelan & Lyney who I got recently (just because he’s like a genshin version of Taehyung, don’t hate me for that it’s just a silly headcanon of mine) it’s good taht with nice combat style also good numbers come, for me it’s more of an additional feature rather than a sole reason to pull
Yes exactly! In all honesty even if she was the weakest character of all she'd still be my favourite to play. I was instantly drawn to Lynette too because of her zoomie skill, I think I just really like going fast 😂
Yeah I know Yelan. I didn't pull for her because I heavily invested in Xingqui, and I had interests in other characters as I can already 36 star abyss. But my friend who I co-op with is very fond of her and I see her put out high damage when she does use Yelan. I actually pulled for Lyney this banner, and I might make him a main. I had enough primos to pull for him + a weapon, so I did and I got aqua simulacra with him. Knowing aqua simulacra is a great weapon, I leveled it to 70 to equip it to Lyney. BUT- I kept pulling on the weapon banner. I got aqua simulacra in 20 pulls and I had wishes left, but I gained a few while exploring fontaine. Those extra wishes actually made me get The First Great Magic. So now I have 2 fantasic bows. Ofcourse the new one will go onto my Lyney, but aqua simulacra is a fantastic bow for a lot of bow users. Maybe someday I'll pull yelan. But she pretty far on my list. This is because I like the husbando's really. That being said, there are still a lot of cool girls too, like Navia. I feel like the voice actress of Navia did such an amazing job portraying the character, keeping her calm; but at the same time keeping her emotions hearable in her voice. That really takes A LOT of skill imo. I guess I'm gonna miss out on some fun characters, because right now I'm out of primos. But luckily reruns exist and I don't mind waiting.
I've had C6 Xingqiu for a long time & didn't really use him much, but as I was running out of 'friendship' characters to grind he entered my daily team & fun was had, perspectives had shifted. As for Yelan, I'd skipped her mainly due to being a bow user (I have a heavy bias against bows from other games) but I wanted Lynette cons so pulled on her banner for them, sadly only getting C1 before Yelan dropped into my lap at 76 pity. Even though I didn't go out of my way to build her, she has a decent enough 4pc Emblem set & I finally found a use for the Recurve bow. If I do use her in Abyss I have an R5 Sac Bow that she will make very good use of but for now she's easily slapping in open world & domains with the Recurve while building friendship.
Scaramouche and yelan are the two characters that made me get interested into Genshin so my goal for characters aside from the obvious is to get thise characters. For gacha games there are usually a couple of characters that gave me interest in the game and so I aim to get those mainly before any other character. Although I was really unlucky this time as an F2P having scaramouche at 3.8 and yelan at 4.0 I had to choose. I chose yelan since shes gotten more reruns then scaramouche.
Yelan is my most valuable character. I can't say I like her the most but I definitely play her the most. Genshin is 1% Abyss and 99% exploration/errands and for that 99% she's absolutely phenomenal. Yeah she's great for Abyss too but in there she's interchangeable with Xingqiu. In the overworld, Xingqiu does not reach ever her ankles.
I got her by accident, I was trying to build pity for Neuvillet, and got her at pity 37, at first I was disappointed because my guaranteed was ruined, I've never won a 50/50 so I mainly rely on guaranteed to get the characters I wanted, but surprisingly she was fun to play with, I'm enjoying her quite a lot and I somehow had pretty much all the materials to max her out, I genuinely wanted to save for neuvillete but she was a pleasant surprise nonetheless, I'll try pull for him either way and if I lose the 50/50 (which I'm certain I would, I have zero hope) I'll at least have a guaranteed for foçalore.
I rolled for Yelan based on everyone saying she is so good, I lost my 50/50 to Jean which I didn’t have yet which was fine, then within the next 10 pulls I got her which was very exciting.
I got her on an early pity during her debut. And now I decided to C1 her. Its a quality of life. I can get my burst faster than before and extra damage. Now, If I can grind primos with fontaine exploration, I'd like to C2 her.... good thing I got her when I was low AR.
As someone who also didn't care about her at all when she released until I tried her back in 2.7 or so, I feel this video lol. I just pulled her this 4.0 banner and It's so great to have her.
I find that yelan at c0 to be a slight downgrade to xq in almost all my teams. Even though I have her and her weapon the only archetype that I can see a better result in is quickbloom where her lower hydro app doesn't steal the quicken aura from the enemy as much.
Yelan It's so good to play when exploring, that I went for constellations last rerun, At this moment, I'm still in doubt if I should pull C5 cuz I use a LOT her E while exploring But yeah, Xinqiu it's better at dendro teams, and Yelan at Vaporize teams IMO Great Video! ✌️✨
Before watching this video, I was planning to skip Yelan's current banner and wait for the upcoming Hydro Archon. After watching, I may consider building pity on Yelan's banner and take a risk on possibly getting her. Still kind of meh about it. Not sure if I actually need a 5 star sexy mommy who is a second Xingqiu because I don't play Abyss. Though some people will say "you had me at sexy mommy..."
I am planning to pull for her on her next banner. She’s one of the few characters that isn’t shipped to the death. Shipping fans get hella annoying sometimes 💀.
i was pulling dor c1 bennett, and she came after 20 pity. Idk what to do with her, as I just recently got kokomi, i main childe and have a good xingqui 😭😭😭
I think you'll enjoy her loads when you eventually get to building her; to me she's much like Xingqiu but more FUN! But you don't have to rush it since your hydro seems to be covered 😁 Also congrats for the early 5 star, I hope you got your benny and didn't ruin a guarantee 💜
Been a Yelan user since first release. Got her C2 and BIS. Totally the overall busted character of every constellation. If I get Nahida next time, the rest of my fates will be funneled to C6 Yelan.
I always thought that she was overrated and I still stand on that after finally pulling her. My f2p Yelan's dmg doesn't wow me because my Xingqiu is only off by 2k per tick, I'm able to get his burst up way easier and since I have Wanderer I don't care much for her E skill.
First and foremost, pull for whom you wish have. That said, whilst aesthetic, gameplay style, animations, and abilities are all reasonable metrics.... if you do not spend much, or a total F2P player.... which I think is best, given the insidious nature of Gatcha Gaming... then only two criteria should be sought above all else once you are at mid level or above: Damage capability/Support OP'ness... to investment/cost (in time and resources) ratio. That is it. That is all anyone should be going for first. If you have that taken care of, then these kinds of showcases and recommendation type videos are useful to inform one about a character's pull value.... but until you have two teams which can comfortably pwn all high level and end game content, including the Abyss, which is really fundamental, THAT really MUST be your aim. Where all thy primos go, where all that grinding dungeons goes, where all your resin goes, where all the crafting and material harvesting is invested. If you do not have at least one mega OP 5 Star DPS carry, which will ensure you will win with the right 4 star supports built around them, and one 5 Star Carry Support who will do the same thing, from the other end of the battle, by buffing/shredding/healing/proc-ing so hard you cannot lose with the right team built around them, even 4 Star.... or two or one or the other, so you may build those two unbeatable teams.... that is where you want to focus, and do so to the exclusion of all else, unless you want to find the power curve of high level late game Genshin leaving you literally unable to complete a great deal of game content... and then having to do all the aforementioned leg work to address that, but it now being SO much harder because of the power level being so much higher. To to this, you want to look at how much power through DPS or OP support functions, a premium banner showcase character gives you, and do a little research to compare them to how much building them takes. With power more important than costs. For example, right now, Ganyu has fallen back in terms of value, not quite Diluc (who's been power crept to near worthlessness)... but getting there. You would, then, want at Xaio, over her..... but, he is VERY expensive to build... as his current best in slot artifacts, Vermillion, are pretty much just... OK.. for some other characters, so you are grinding for items with limited utility overall, his best in slot weapon is as rare as he, so it is hard to get, as are any constellations, and the best weapon for F2P players that is accessible, is still a glitter buy from the shop... and these investments make a MASSIVE different on him...... so if you can then pull say a Raiden, or maybe Ayaka, or such... they are better than Xaio... because these building issues are not quite as acute, making them 'cheaper' but just as, or more, powerful. Same with supports. Technically, Jean is a 5 Star, who should be able to be DPS or support, but is by FAR a more common support slot.... but she suffers from Diluc's issues...mainly due to her having the worst element for what she is meant to be, seemingly just to keep things themic in Monstadt, so you want better 5 Star Supports.... niche supports that go the other way, and lean way too hard in to what they are, like Shenhe, and Sara, are still better, but the build costs are high, indirectly, due to having to build a primary DPS around their element, even if you do not have the dedicated 5 Star DPS they are meant to be with... that can still work.. but it is cost heavy.....so even before them, you want say someone like Zong-Li... who is comfy with Millileth, or Petra artifacts, in most scenarios, plus a few others, and can be two two artifact cobo'ed if needed, does fine with numerous F2P weapon options, is relatively easy to build, and brings massive amounts of power to a team, cheaper than aforementioned options. Genshin is a nasty game.... if you, like I, came in blind, as an experienced older gamer, but with zero knowledge of gatcha games, you can find you fail to appreciate the importance of all your resources and making hay, so to speak, while the low level sun shines, and being VERY careful with your primos and pulls. I am too invested now to get out... but... you HAVE to step back and take stock, when you watch videos like this. Ask yourself DO you want to be able to actually complete content at higher levels? Is that even important, or are you happy to just glide around Monstadt doing mechanisms, hunting, and cooking? If yes, then you ask CAN you? Can you complete higher level content, or are you en route to be able to with having secured and begun to build at least two sure fire characters that will be the core base of teams which then WILL be able to? If yes, go for the current banners. Give Yelan a go. If the answer is NO though? DO NOT. She does not bring enough to make her worth it yet, compared to what might be coming up. Wait for that OP character, either in Support or DPS (Kokomi who was just on the banner, for example).....and pull for them FIRST, especially if they are OP, and still a bit cheap and easy to build... those are a gift from the Divines! THEN and only THEN, once you have begun to ensure you can set yourself up to not have pull, spend, invest, grind, etc ever again... or at least until they do a radical change to the meta, should you pull on any banner which is NOT a guaranteed Pwnage machine, because that really does outrank everything.
I was at crossroads on whether to use my now guarantee to c1 her or save it for hydro archon and ayato, but im leaning towards saving cause I already have a r5 fav bow and r5 sac bow
yeah much as I enjoy her c1, I think she's fantastic without it too, especially with a sac bow - my alt account only has an r2 sac bow and her skill still resets very reliably in combat!
I’ll never be able to understand why anyone would skip her. she can be main dps, sub dps, she’s one of the most beautiful characters, one of the most fun, is hydro, works off field, is faster than other characters, Her c1 is crazy good for a c1, The weapon banner is insane this time around, She works with everyone, not charge characters tho, She’s almost a perfect example of a great character design.. why would anyone have a good reason to skip outside of they want a different character at the moment or they think she’s boring I guess.
I think it's more that when you've got limited resources, it's better to only pull for characters who you really want - especially on someone's first banner. If they're good then they'll get a re-run, so it's easier to change that decision later on!
My only reason to skip her it's because I'm mainly going for male characters in my main account 😂 I'm trying to get Yelan in my second account but I'm out of wishes cuz I got Kokomi recently. But it's fine, maybe next time I'll get her 💜 My friend let me borrow her account, so I can play with Yelan all the time 👌
Pretty good character review, but you're really neglecting your Yelan's Energy Recharge, which is a problem because not only is her burst one of her greatest features (as fun and satisfying as her lifeline is in practice), but you have her equipped with the Emblem of Severed Fate set which scales from her Energy Recharge! I highly recommend at least 180%, if not more than 200 if you can manage it, you might be surprised if you replace your HP% Sands with an ER% and see her overall damage, party contribution, and ease of play increase as a result!
Yeah I was surprised to see Saurus's Yelan having that little ER too! I play with her all the time in co-op though, and she uses Yelan a lot and seems to have no ER problems at all... I think the C1 makes that big a difference! 👀 Definitely curious whether an ER sands would improve damage, expect it might be another case where it's roughly equivalent to the current one though - though like you say it'd make getting her burst back up easier... 🤔

When she debuted in 2.7 I was up to Xiao and once I got him I aimed for her for the next banner and got her and she’s much better than Xingqiu. His elemental skill for me is very useless while Yelan’s allows small crowd control
Hey I'm confused rn after seeing this video. Cuz I really need to complete my alihatham team. And need a good hydro support. I was about to save my primogem for furina(hydro archon). I don't know what should I do . Should I pull yelan or wait for hydro archon. I know archon are always worth pulling . But still please advise me what would be best for me .
Well it would depend on what her (the archon) kit is like/whether she'll be a good support for al haitham specifically, which is something I don't know yet 🤔 Do you have Xingqiu? Because if you do, he's very good in pretty much all the same teams Yelan is, and that would mean you could save for Furina regardless of what her kit ends up being like!
Im in the opposite 😂 In all three Yelan banners till now i always had guaranteed pity somehow and i still never wished for her. During her 1st banner i saved for Yoimiya who was after her banner During her 2nd banner i used my pity and primos day before her banner to get Alhaitham 😅 And now i used my Guaranteed to get Lyney and his signature
I lost the 50/50 i got c2 mona is not so bad because now i have guarantee hydro archon and i can change a little making my mona now a damage dealer but still could be cool if i get yelan since i really like xinqiu having 2 would be helpful
The absolute gay in me DEMANDED Lyned because of his aesthetics, but I still wished for Yelan and honestly, I couldn't be happier with my pull! Lyney is more niche in pyro teams and I just want him for aesthetics sadly + Yelan is literally actually perfectly rounded character! Love her!!!
Yeah C6 Yelan is apparently one of the, if not the strongest unit in the game. Where after using her burst, your normal attack effectively gets replaced with 5 charged shots. And her C4 gives her a massive HP boost for every enemy she marks with her skill. I feel like its one of those cases where it'd be fun to play with on someones whale account but I wouldn't want it for my own since she would actually break the game. lol
Yeah exactly! Would be fun to go through the abyss one time like PEWPEWPEW with everything just dying, but feel like it would absolutely get boring pretty fast!

Oof tough one! I think on balance I'd go for Yelan - she's fantastic and well worth it, and has already re-run a few times so who knows when she'll next be on a banner. Neuvillette we don't know for sure how good he'll be, and if he IS good then we can expect he'll re-run sometime fairly soon!
Depends on your playstyle! Personally I pulled Zhongli expecting to use him constantly, but because I hadn't used healers up until then, dodging had become just a part of how I play... so he's been fairly underwhelming for me. Been over a year and I've so far only recently found one team I like him in (Yoimiya/Xingqiu/Yunjin/Zhongli), and even there it's actually marginally more fun to use Thoma instead of Zhongli because of how I tend to do things... On the other hand, if you're used to using a shield or struggle to dodge (e.g. because of lag) then Zhongli absolutely worth it. Focalors no idea, should be long enough before then to save up enough primos though!
Tough decision! Focalors is probably gonna be a whole patch away, for Zhongli really it depends on what your preferred playstyle is. I have him, but never ever use him because I instinctively dodge and the other shielders provide better utility (e.g. elemental application) for most of the teams I use... if you're like that then 100% go for Yelan; if you rely entirely on shielders and never dodge, then yeah Zhongli might be more worth it.
both are amazing. that's why i use XQ on one side of abyss and Yelan on another. to me Yelan is better because I'm already using Zhongli to negate all that damage/interruption thing @@POTATOLOVERRRR
@empegirl9696 There's three different accounts shown in the video! - First is Saurus's main account, which has a C2 Yelan with R1 Aqua Simulacra. Definitely noticeably stronger because of the generally stronger stats and the constellations. - Second is my account, which has a C0 Yelan with an R5 Sacrificial Bow. Fairly well built, with decent crit; mine isn't as strong as Saurus's but is still brilliant. - Third is Saurus's F2P alt account, which also has a C0 Yelan with R1 Sacrificial Bow if I remember correctly. Built a little differently, focusing on HP with only 40/90 crit. The vid mentions that the alt account can already get 30 stars on the abyss, largely because of Yelan, despite being relatively new and not super well invested! She's great even on a F2P account for sure.

@@empegirl9696 33 stars is really good! That means you'd only be missing out on 50 primogems per 3 weeks, so only one wish every two months ...not a big deal at all! 😁
i never have liked Yelan. I hated her in The Chasm story. her personality is so bland and boring. Plus she's a bow user, the worst weapon in the game. Yelan's only good asset is her thighs, that's it. she's an easy skip. I recently got Klee to C6 and she's so much more fun to play than before when she was at C2.
