Thank you everyone for tuning in again!
I did a day cab conversion on this very old issue of the famous Italeri 4984 Western Star tractor with some big front floats and a shortened frame.
Please take some of my commentary with a grain of salt when I talk about this different ways us Canadians pronounce some words... it's all meant to be light-hearted lol.

Another very clean build. I like the fact that you didn't over-dress this WS. You went with working clothes rather than a tuxedo. 😊 I didn't know that Krylon made a gloss paint in the Caterpillar color - it looks great.👍

Thank you Bob, I appreciate your words (and the way you worded it)! That's exactly how I felt about this tractor when I was building it. Yes, that Krylon can of Old Cat Yellow has a gloss sheen to it... i was gonna semi-gloss finish it but the shine grew on me so I left it. Thanks for tuning in and making a comment, more semi-trucks are coming!

Apparently Zap makes a super dooper PVA glue now that is supposed to great on clear parts. Im gonna try to find some. Thats a good looking day cab. I built the Italeri western star Australia version.

Nice little western star Karl,also liked the k-100 and 53 livestock.i'm doing the opposite with my livestock,making two 27ft doubles to go behind the international 4070.kutgw Chris

Karl, Just found your Model Truck site. The Western Star is 👍👍👍! A great work truck. Mid 80's heavy tractors didn't have a headache racks or a third tag axle in my area. A drop deck flat bed trailer would do it justice!

I love the day cabs . I'm a Teamster here in California and alls I've ever driven is day cabs and flatbeds and any time I build a truck I try to ditch the sleeper

Just a tip that be a 86+ …..80-85 the cab sat lower n the exhaust went under the frame Great build !!! 👍👍👍

That is a good looking truck! The hood is also different on the early 80's Western Star. The head lights are recessed into the fenders, like the 4800, yet with the square headlights.

Nice job 👍 the steering the tires and wheels are called duplex the super singles are for the drives and trailer

Thanks! Up here in Canada we run 385's on the steering axle.. we can them "floats" for the heavy duty applications. Italeri has molded them from the same size tire (385/65-22.5) and calls them "super singles" as you mentioned. We have some companies using them for mostly trailer applications up here but more often a 445/65-22.5 is the most common size for trailers and drives.
