Atatürk died in 1938 not 1933 and Selanik was part of the Ottoman Empire in 1881.Today, many Turks live in the city of Selanik. Actually Atatürk s big grandfather s from anatolia, but In the following years, with the Ottoman "settlement" policy, some Turks in Anatolia settled in the Balkans. And You say "Atatürk is perfect for 2020" but i think this is false because Without Atatürk, we would have been a British colony and the Ottoman Empire would have signed the Sevr Treaty, but Atatürk organized the people and fought for liberation, so I think Atatürk took his place in history at the most necessary time. Without Atatürk, we would experience the same things as Germany. One of the reasons for the outbreak of World War II is the Versailles agreement. But Sevr was a heavier deal, so you can understand that if Ataturk did not exist, we would have participated in the 2nd World War and who knows when we would have won our independence. Ataturk was a remarkable human being, a gift to Turkey, a gift to humanity. He was excellent on many levels : an excellent soldier, excellent reformer, excellent statesman, mentor, everything. He could truly grasp the essence of Turkish people and could manage to gain the support of a whole nation in a short period of time.When Ottoman Empire collapsed, due to centuries of mismanagement and the failure of adapting to changing World, we had litterally nothing, no factories, no industry, we couldn't produce even the smallest thing but right after the republic was founded a big advance was made on many levels, many factories were opened, only around 10% of population could read and write so there had to be a great educational revolution based on universal principles, on positive sciences..he was the one who ordered a translation of Quran to Turkish because until then people didn't know what they were reading about, their whole religious opinion was based on tales and what some shady religious men were preaching them. When Turkey fought the war of independence against imperial powers it had become an inspiration to many suppressed nations by the World elite, that's why now in many places of the World you'll find an Ataturk statue and he is honoured as being a great leader and inspiration. Surely this example was no good, not for the World elite with their dark plans and their partners in crime within the country, soon after he died they have started to operate a counter revolution slowly and managed to turn down all his revolutions, ruined the educational system, brought the backward religious institutions back, especially the right wing conservtive governments did that, starting after 1946.. and the point we are at right now is obvious, you could even notice everything about Turkey was more advanced back then. If we could hold on to his legacy well Turkey would be at a much different place right now but he believed in this nation and i do believe too, no matter how the darkness tries to take over Ataturk's light will always guide us to the right path and you can be sure the big majority of Turkish people think the same way as me.

Hi there bro I would like to explain something. In the old times when Ottomans conquered a soil a land they settled Anatolian Turkmens (which are Anatolian nomads) to the places they conquered so that they can influence them culturally, create an economic growth by settling down nomads so they can pay taxes and protecting the borders with the nomads that settled there. Mustafa Kemal's father Ali Rıza Bey was a Turkish man which can be understood by his name as sure as Mustafa Kemal's mother so even that he was born and grown in Selanik he is actually Turkish and he lived there in a Turkish neighborhood. After the Turkish Independence War was over Turkey and Greece made a population exchange between themselves that is why there is no Turkish people in Greece nor Greek people in Turkey but at the time most of the continent was populated by Turkish settlers whom Ottoman chose. So in the end Atatürk is actually Turkish he was just born in Selanik which was an Ottoman city at the time.
