The angel said to Mohammed peace be upon him “Iqra” which in Arabic means read but it can also mean recite but read would be more accurate translation. About the prayer, it was supposed to be 50 times a day but the prophet Moses told Mohammed to negotiate it down until it was reduced to 5. The 5 prayers a day are a must and can no longer be reduced or neglected.

Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times."- 4:103 When it comes to the five main prayers, Fajr, Duhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. these are Obligatory no matter what, you cannot decrease your daily prayers to less than five, and they have to be done in their times. However, when it comes to praying more, it is permitted to do so. and with some very encouraged. like the prayer of entering the mosque.
Yeah the 5 prayings are mandatory it and It is a sin to miss praying it but doesn't make you not muslim for missing it. There are other prayers called sunnah prayers that are optional that can be prayed before or after the mandatory ones. Whenever you enter a mosque a muslim should pray a sunnah prayers again its optional but we a rewarded for doing so by Allah.
5 times a day is require or must.. There have any other prayer outside of 5 times, but its sunnah, you can doing it or not.. Betwen a 5 time if you praying into a mosque (dhuhur for example) there have sunnah prayer before and after, and dhuha prayer, tahajud prayer (unlimited number of rakaat until fajr) and so on..
It means READ actually, but what happened is that when Angel Gabriel told Muhammad to the first word of the verse "Read" three times and the Prophet first did not understand because he was illiterate so the Prophet told the Angel I am not learned when Prophet Muhammad realised that the Angel Gabriel was insisting in repeating the word, at this time the Prophet followed the angel and recited the word until the verse finished. The full verse was, In the name of Allah Most Merciful The Especially Merciful (Read in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clot, read and your Lord is Most Generous, who taught by the pen, taught man what he did not know).

Yes bro the first word of the Holy Quran is read. Recitation is a soothing way of reading the Quran. Regarding pray; it is obligatory to pray 5 times per day each one at specific time (dawn time, midday, afternoon, sunset and late evening) but you can pray additional optional prayers to increase your reward 💝

First of all it is very much appreciated that you reacted on Islam but first thing you must know that Islam was not started from Muhammad. Islam has been started when first man Adam came on earth because Allah told us in Quran the only religion is acceptable in front of Allah is Islam. Allah sent 124000 messangers and prophet to preech only one religion is Islam. There are some mightious messangers are Noah, Ibrahim, Mosis, Jesus Son of Marry and Muhammad. As far as you question is concerned about prayer five prayers are compulary it is not allowed to leave these prayers in any situation. If anyone want to pray more it can be there is no compultion but five prayers are compulsary.

@@JaguarKing1 the uncle of Muhammad said to him that when he had a nightmare in the cave Muhammad met angel Gabriel. The one that met Moses. The big mistake is that Angel Gabriel never met Moses. Secondly when you read appearance of Gabriel in Torah and Bible he never acted nor speak like the creature of the cave. The creature never introduced as the Angel Gabriel. And Muhammad was influenced by his uncle who had a really limited knowledge of religious facts.
