According to the documents, 63 Finns sailed on Titanic, of whom 20 survived. The best Finnish athlete is from around the same era, and also now topical when Paris Olympics are around the corner: "Paavo Nurmi-The Flying Finn", "Paavo Nurmi 1924 Olympics,Paris 5 Gold Medals" and "Paavo Nurmi's five Olympic Golds return to Paris".

This clip is from the 10000 m, when he fell, stood up and continued and not only managed to win the race but he also set a new world record on the distance. Lasse went on to win the double again in Montreal 1976.
