It's too bad. But yes, you cannot forge passports and other identity documents. And if you do this as a family traveling together, be prepared to get separated. I don't know when this was, but if it was post-Brexit, they would not have been able to live and work in the UK unregistered or undocumented anyways. The right of abode is a thing of the past, sadly. On second thought, even before Brexit, I am sure they'd have had to register in the UK in some sort of way, even if they had the right to live and work there as "Slovenian" EU citizens. Eventually, the British government would have gotten wind that they came in on fake EU documents and would have duly prosecuted and deported them right then and there anyways. What a badly and poorly planned out move. I am glad Italy caught them. Even if they'd made it from Italy to the UK via Ireland and didn't have to pass through Irish Immigration cause they'd be on a connecting flight to the UK, UK border patrol surely would have caught them. As they are no longer in the EU and never were in the Schengen Area, they don't mess around.
