People in the comments, sitting in their 1m London houses, watching this on the latest ipad, saying that those who just risked their lifes by crossing the Med in a dingy, should be returned to north Africa immediately. Psychologically this is very interesting. It boils down to a subconscious sensation of threat to ones own life standards. People are scared that those who have nothing, could take away a little bit of what they have. Leaving them potentially less well off afterwards. Therefore we get these strong emotionally driven reactions. It's an automated defense mechanism. And considering the amount of people we are talking about here, that threat is of course wildly exaggerated for a wealthy country with 66+mil people. But that doesn't mean the threat doesn't feel real to those who commented under this video. But instead of putting into question whether immigration is good, bad or dangerous, these comments only reveal the lack of critical thinking skill that is currently present in the UK. Falling for such a dumb and clearly exaggerated narrative, that those immigrants might effect your status, shows a complete lack of reflection, understanding of context and basic empathy. it's sickening but it's a mass phenomenon.

What was his plan after he put them on his boat? Did he think people would just welcome them with open arms? After he gets his praise for “rescuing” them who gets to feed and house them?
