Great player, but he did break my heart in 2006. I reckon we would have won in extra time against the 10 men of Italy. Hiddink had that team as fit as a fiddle. Italy beat Ukraine 3-0 in the next game to make the semi final and I reckon Australia would have chalked up a win as well had they been there.

Hey dude were you ever part of the Italian diving team.😮 Still I suspect Australia was a long way away from winning that game even though at the time it was hard to take chances are Italy more likely to win in extra time or if it had come to it a penalty shoot out. Plus Italy definitely kicked it up a notch for the remainder of that world cup and Australia was more likely than not playing their final that day and didn't have another gear to go to. But we will never know. Still pales into insignificance when compared to the hand of God goal from Maradona though.

That was a bogus penalty. I need to check that referee's bnk acct.
