Before and after of the front of the land at La Bolla...it used to be just bare earth, which was prone to flooding, had no worms and nothing for pollinating insects or nature. We've transformed the whole 100m stretch over the last two years with planting of drought tolerant plants and shrubs (even if it is taking a bit longer than Pete would like!) and in this episode Sally outlines what's been done and what we were trying to achieve. It's going to look even more impressive in 2025, when the shrubs have had a chance to get established - provided this summer doesn't have the same devestating effect as 2023's brutally high temperatures and lack of rain (this was a problem last year because we are subject to Schengen rules and can only be at La Bolla for 90 out of 180 days...ggrrrrr!).
Our website has more info about the our project at La Bolla: www.labollapug.... We'd be delighted if you subscribed for the 3-weekly future episodes about renovation of this beautiful original stone lamia, energy and water self-sufficiency, land management of the 4-acre olive and fruit orchard and waterwise dry gardening. We are also on Instagram at @LaBollaPuglia and love getting your comments and questions.
