intldawn there's a story behind those costumes/leotards. Italian team asked to a russian modist to make the Olympic leotards. They've paid her, but she barely started to create them. She was intimidated to not work for Italy. The incomplete leotards arrived in Italy and they have been ultimated by an italian modist. This means that it was all planned. The same russian modis have made the Olympic leotards for team Spain, but without problems.

Couldn't agree more!! Sadly,from ice skating to diving to gymnastics wherever there are judges,between shady country favours to bad human judgment it really is disgraceful and unfair too many times..🤨🤨

So true! Sadly,as you well know being an athlete,when there are human judges and favors between Federations and other shady pacts,many times we have seen medals being robbed or gifted to the wrong people..this was one of those times..☹

You know Italy was the "real deal" when the Olympics makes a special tribute to them. I saw this in 2008 and I was awestruck. Nearly 12 years on and it's still magnificent.

13 years later, and it still hurts so much...I was 11 y.o. in 2008 and I remember crying while watching the tv at 4 in the morning, while listening to the italian girls crying during the interview...it is something that really broke me inside, maybe the first time I actually witnessed that life is not fair and doing the best is not always enough

wrong ! doing the BEST IS EVIDENT TO THE WORLD AND DONT BLAME THE TEAM OR THE PERFORMANCE-IT JUST SHOWS UP THE STENCH OF CORRUPTION and if we had an Edward R Murrow MEDIA they would have shined the lights on the scumbags in charge of this charade and embarrassed them because "losing face" publicly is still a suicidal offense !

Today Italy won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Well deserved gold to Bulgaria and silver to Russia. Today, as 13 years ago, that 4th place at Beijing 2008 still hurts. Forza farfalle, Paris 2024 is so close!

Senza nulla togliere alle farfalle...Per me, con le 5 palle di Londra 2012, uno degli esercizi migliori e più belli della nazionale di ritmica italiana creati fino ad oggi!!! Costumi stupendi, musica potentissima, colonna sonora inconfondibile, che energia le ginnaste,che potenza, espressività, la clavetta incastrata nei cerchi,la capitana santoni... sono passati 13 ma ancora mi vengono i brividi ogni volta che lo guardo...nulla da fare!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏

Wonderful and dramatic music for a dramatic and mind-blowing routine. The Italian team had to have been on the 2008 Olympic podium, but unfortunately the corruption that characterizes this type of event prevented it. It is inadmissible as this team was in fourth position, while a team that was barely reaching its artistic and technical quality was forced by favors and unofficial aid in the position of silver medalists. Thank God, Chinese Taipei has no team, otherwise the Belarusians would have been the immediate victims.

Purtroppo non so niente di ginnastica ritmica ma vedere quest’esercizio ho pensato subito a quanto fosse stupendo. Credo che una maestria così e una performance così artistica non si fosse mai vista prima. Non hanno avuto una medaglia ma sicuramente saranno ricordate per questo magnifico esercizio.

It's about time that I get to see Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics! I remember staying up until 2:00 AM *just to see* Rhythmic gymnastics on TV during the last Olympic games -- and it wasn't even shown! The schedule said 2:00 AM - 3:00 AM = Rhythmic Gymnastics, but some Late Night Recap show was on instead. I was PISSED -- I still am, four (4) years later, if you can't tell.

Just watched this. Can’t believe I missed this event. So 4th place. Those other 3 teams above them must have been awesome (from the comments below I believe this not to be true - being obtuse). They didn't even went to the podium...4th place. Totally robbed of a (at least) well deserved silver medal. Strangely (please read this with heavy sarcasm) China barely met their artistic and difficulty expectations and yet they got a silver medal. Once of the most corrupted olympic events, in one of the most corrupted olympic ever.
