I have been Prepping since the late 70's. Retired, my team members will be here on the farm when SHTF. I have a hand dug well with a hand pump in it, a small creek, three ponds nearby and a lake a few miles away. We have several store bought water filters and sources for materials to make filters. We have home canned food, store bought canned food, dehydrated food, freeze dried food and fresh veggies and fruit trees. We have a lifetime of hand tools, heirloom seeds, etc.

It's a nice beginning list. One thing I would add is spare eyeglasses. I have been extremely near sighted most of my life and helpless without my glasses. I have always kept a spare pair close by. Usually, they were just my last pair, so they may haven't had my latest prescription but close enough. Since my cateract surgery, its not so critical but mow I can get by with some drug store magnifiers. Glasses or not, keep some safety glasses close by. You will probably doing some dirty chores that you're not used to doing, and you will want to protect your eyes.

I started keeping my old glasses three years ago. A few months ago my glasses broke and I had to use my old pair for two weeks while waiting for a replacement. I keep the old pair in my go bag.

I use 1 gallon wine bottles to store water. They're hidden everywhere. I have 1 gal and 2 ltr bottles of water under sinks for cleaning and flushing. Also save, clean and properly preserve all meat fats. You can make soap, bake, fry and make your own cleaning and hygiene products with it.

Hi TORY , MY LIST IS VERY SIMILAR TO YOURS. RIGHT NOW I AM FOCUSING ON HAVING MY GO BAGS AND CARS. PREPPED, AS I MENTIONED BEFORE WE LIVE IN A FIRE ZONE. ITS A BIT SCARY TO GO THRU THIS SO OFTEN BUT WE HAVE LEARNED TO DO OUR BEST. I PRAY PEOPLE ARE TAKING YOUR VIDEOS TO HEART, ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE CHILDREN . GREAT VIDEO 😊😊😊😊

I absolutely love your videos. I am trying to get my fiance and daughter (she's on 6 almost 7 but she is curious and asking me what items are what) So I may start teaching her. I came from a military family so my dad started teaching me at a young age up til I was 13 because I lost him at 13 but that didn't stop me from continuing practicing. I also learned you can also add a small fishing kit to your prep. I also practice building various shelters. (Right now I haven't been able to practice my fire skills yet due to how dry it's been and having a burn ban right now but as soon as I can I will be practicing that.

I had a question. With all you've prepped. Especially the love put into home canning. If you have to bug out(leave) isn't that all for nothing as u can't take it al with you. I can't prep. My husband of 25 years took off and abandoned our son and me. So we just get by. No money for extras and that's scary.. I. Onl can eat pureed food so I fear if we go off grid I can't eat. My car is almost 16 years old so doubt it would make it anywhere if we had to leave.. a y ideas. Truly there isn't even a few dollars a week to put toward prepping. The sad part is my husband eats out all day long and goes on vacation every month. Ty

I understand that concern. I would suggest finding a place to store the home canned food that is not on your property, a place that only yourself and your family know about, keep the place light and temperature controlled ❤️ I am sorry you are going through that ❤️
