I remember the tornado in 2005. I was 9 then and we lived right where the tornado path was (specifically on Priestly Road in Sparkbrook). It was a 3 storey house and my room was on the top floor. and from the window we had a view of Highgate where we saw the tornado forming, coming our way and passing right above us! Because we had no roof and it was a pretty strong building we took no damage but it was very terrifying to watch! We thought we were going to die that day! There was no warning and it happened very quickly... fortunately nothing has happened in the last 12 years but I still believe the Midlands is a hotspot for Tornados. Especially with these hurricane like storms appearing across the UK.
I remember this one. I was sleeping and suddenly my bed started to shake wildly and it felt like a soundless car had crashed into the house. I did not live in the badly affected area but close to it
@@natashajones5835 That is horrible. I would have been scared to death. I was already scared when my bed was shaking that much. I can picture your sister how scared she must have been
I remember when this happened I was about 7 and it was so scary I remember stuff around the house just started shaking and because stuff like this in England or at least Birmingham is rare it was even scarier
Actually in terms of land size we are the country with the most tornadoes per year at a average of 33. We just dont realise as they're not usually strong or cause much damage. Obviously compared to America and eastern europes tornadoes ours are nothing really.
I used to live on that road I rememeber seing rubbish spinning in the sky from my garden window i was really young and didn't think much of it... Then i heard loud wind and closed the windows not long later trees had fallen down. I was studying tornados and remembered about it wondered if it was on news if it was actually a tornado or not and i found this! X
I live in Tamworth, I was on holiday at the time, to the east of England, I think perhaps Skeggness. I was about 13 at the time. We had a bad storm up there during this time, we turned on the t.v and saw there had been a tornado hit Birimgham. I always remember going home that week and a family member saying that it was black as night during the time it was said to have hit.
@@shahee6579 It wasn't night time as far as I recall. It was day time and it went black all of a sudden. Family members and friends said the same who were back home at the time. (edit just realised my typo, corrected, lol)
We've been very lucky in this country that more major tornadoes haven't hit cities. I'd say this was an EF3, but sooner of later we're gonna get an EF4. Tornadoes arent rare in the uk, and we should all be aware thst they can and do hit populated areas.
@@Mr-Tibbster actually, there are hundreds of accounts of tornadoes touching down in the UK. They used to be called whirlwinds or tempests. In the last 10 years in Nuneaton, we've had 2 tornadoes touch down, and have had 3 funnel clouds directly overhead.
