A quick look at how iTrain controls my N gauge model railway.
With the help of tutorials made by Bob Fuller I now have my N gauge model railway running with iTrain.

A beautiful layout and cool automation 👍 My n gauge layout is just a GP40 in CN livery with 3 cars which goes round and round on my desk hauling cookies, candies and other snacks. The scenery is mostly pens, papers and other clutter. Cheers from Canada :-)

I use the Faller car system. The trucks are battery operated and run along a wire which is fitted into a groove in the baseboard by following the wire with magnets fitted to the trucks. They don’t have many options for the vehicles whereas the 00 gauge have a lot of different models.

Hi, Yes where would we be without Bob Fuller like you have moved fron Hornbys eLnk and Railmaster to iTrains using a DR5000 control station but still with the points controlled by Hornbys decoder and it was great to see your layout running so well now mine being OO and only 10ft X 4ft or so space is a bit tight but I am getting there so was hoping you would have more videos on this but it looks as though this was it shame. Hope you are well and still enjoying watching your trains. Cheers Robert.

Well done Ron. Your layout looks brilliant. I too am a N Gauger using iTrain Pro and learning with Bob and Iain’s RU-vid videos. Keep it up. Let us have a look at the under board wiring on your next video. Best wishes for 2022, Keith

This is a fantastic effort! Well done! I hope to get my layout finished in the next couple of years (Z gauge using the Dinamo system for control hardware). My layout is quite similar in terms of the main features. I already invested in iTrain and have also been following Bob Fuller's excellent video series.

Great looking layout, iTrain is something I hope to retro fit in a year or so. Would love to know how you get such smooth running - do you have keep alives fitted.

Your layout is my favorites from the ones I saw on youtube. I hope you make following videos on this layout to really appreciate most of it. I would love to subscribe if that would be the case.

Inspiring video, good to see what can be achieved with iTrain. I have started using iTrain as well and am greatly impressed even though my model is no where near as complete as yours! I am keen to know the settings you have used on the sound decoders / iTrain, my loco makes the sound of full throttle until the loco has stopped- I noticed your locos sounded like they were coasting/ idling when slowing to a standstill.
@RonArmes
@RonArmes Год назад
I'm afraid I can't help you with that, I purchased the locos with the decoders fitted and left all of the settings as set.

Great work! The automation side of it is a huge part of my rekindled interest in the hobby as well. What are you using for your decoders and firebox lights etc.? I am impressed you’ve been able to sound and light fit so much N gauge rolling stock!
@RonArmes
@RonArmes Год назад
It’s the automation side that got me interested as well. I purchased all of my locos with the lights and fireboxes from CR Signals, you can find them on Google. They fitted the lights into the coaches as well. The Stanier was a stock item.

Nice layout Ron, could you please respond to 3 questions: 1) How iTrains knows in wich section is the train 2) can you program iTrain to do shunting like change a train composition. 3) what happen if a coupler detach from convoy Kind Regards
@kutzancoita6341
@kutzancoita6341 Год назад
1) question is by using sensors, but i trans knows i think more or less position of ech train by setting his speed.
@RonArmes
@RonArmes Год назад
The track is divided into each section by isolating them. I have not got as far as trying to change the train composition but I think it is possible. If you search for Bob Fuller on RU-vid he gives excellent tutorials. If a part of a train becomes detached I just correct it by hand.

Great layout Ron. I also use itrain (on an 00 gauge layout, with a Dr5000 controller). I absolutely concur the Bob Fullers videos are superb. What sound decoders do you use? What system do you use to control the vehicle route?
@RonArmes
@RonArmes 2 года назад
Hi James, Loksound decoders are used except for the Stanier which came with the decider fitted. I set up all of the routes manually using Bob’s instructions.

Thanks for your speedy reply Ron. I haven’t come across anything by Bob about vehicle installation, ie the lorry you show following a route. I know nothing about setting up vehicles, where to get them, or how to control them. Presumably there is some hardware hidden under the roadway? Anyway can you kindly point me to any info or videos, so I can look into this aspect? Many thanks.
@RonArmes
@RonArmes 2 года назад
The lorries are from the Faller car system. They have far more choice with the O scale than the N scale. They are motorised with a constant speed and follow a wire I embedded into the roadway. Mine are not controlled in any other way, just placed on the road and go. Faller do have more sophisticated systems and choice for the O gauge. If you Google Faller Car System you will find videos and all other information.

I'm using a 15" HP laptop connected to an old 27" Dell screen. The screen is about 10 years old but works well and is much easier for me to use with my eyesight then just the laptop.
