This season came out after the gang rewatched and discussed their own old episodes at length on a podcast. I think watching their old episodes and finding out what made them happiest and laugh the most really helped them rediscover why the show is beloved, and that it encouraged them to put some new life into the series. I feel like this season feels more like classic Sunny because of it. It's great!
Okay, so I did some digging and here's what I came up with in regards to nut: A lot of people, including myself, just assumed they were being idiots and they meant net instead of nut, but there actually *is* such a thing as nut when it comes to finances. Specifically, it's referred to as your "monthly nut", and it means the amount of hard expenses you have to make every month. These are non-negotiable things that you need to take care of in order to cover basic necessities. Your rent, car payment, utility bills, etc etc are all part of your monthly nut. Basic financial advice recommends that your monthly nut not exceed 50% of your take home wages, and of the remaining 50% you should set aside 20% for savings and the remaining 30% goes to flexible spending. So when they refer to taking care of your nut, what they mean is covering your basic monthly necessary spending. Now the origin for this phrase is a fascinating one: going back a few centuries, traveling carnivals and troupes and whatnot would to to different towns and villages to earn a living by performing for the commoners. It was common for these performers to try and skip town without paying the local taxes and fees, so the sheriff would take the nuts off of the axels on their wagons thus making sure the performers couldn't leave town unless they left all their equipment and possessions behind. They would get the nuts back after they had settled local taxes and fees. This was referred to as "making your nut". It's not an often used expression these days, but I suspect that it might start making a resurgence after Always Sunny used it lol
I’ve said it before, but I really want to reiterate how great what we do in the shadows would be as a replacement show for sunny. You’ve got a good while until season 17 comes out, so if you need a recommendation that’s mine.
The bathroom was only mentioned once in the episode where Charlie and Dee walk in each other's shoes. When Dee is commenting on the fact that they pee in a can, Charlie responds with, "I'm sorry Dee, but you do NOT want to use that bathroom!"
The one she glued herself to is a closet. That was found back in early seasons. Mac and Dennis breakup Mac says he cleaned it out so someone can sleep in there.
Companies buy up homes that are cheap compared to where the company is (Cali or nyc) then they sell the homes at a higher rate to people from Cali and nyc who think they're getting a good deal. Which inflates the price of houses in areas where people aren't making enough to afford these now inflated prices. Homes in rural towns are getting too expensive for the people who live in those rural areas and only people from out of town or state move in thinking it's a good deal.
The tmnt pies are 100% real. When I was 8, my best friend stole $20 from his mom's purse. We went to liquor store around the corner and bought a box of the pies each. And played some arcade. We knew we couldn't go home with the pies so we sat on the curb and we both ate our box of pies... within 20min of eating them me and him were projectile vomiting slime green pie filling g all over the place. To this day it's one of the worst throw up experiences I've ever had. Oh and dee was a commentary on the stupid protesters gluing themselves to art to get what they want. And no one gives a shit lmao
This is the first time Mac was funny in years. He used to be angry and fast and energetic and dumb teying to look smart and strong. Then, he became mopey, down, crying for acceptance. I don't like that Mac change, but this season game me some hope of seeing more of old Mac.
@@funfunfun3624 Yeah, I live in L.A. . It's actually improved a little over the last year as far as reduction of homeless encampments in the Venice area where I am. I shouldn't have been so stern in my condemnation because everybody has different experiences and preferences. Obviously lots of people like it here, so maybe I'm the odd one. There are plenty of nice places in L.A. and California, but generally they require LARGE amounts of money to live in or even near.
Yeah when they break enough families banks and they go homeless or end up consolidating homes, there will be a large amount of empty rentals which will drive the price back down. After screwing a large part of our people. Because the property owners need more revenue than last year, cant settle for being less rich
Rewatching with the reaction, I have a fan theory. Dennis is significantly dumber since returning from his double life…. But is he really? I think he decided to just go along with all the gangs nonsense and embrace it.
As an insane sunny fanboy I hate to say I strongly dislike season 16. Especially these first 3 episodes. Feel wooden. Feel as if the gang had no hand in writing them. I liked every season of sunny until this one.
