The All Steel 45 ACP Springfield Armory Operator, which has been absent for a few years, has now been brought back! This has a 5 inch match grade stainless steel barrel, 3 dot dovetailed sights with tritium in the front one, and VZ G10 grips. The new patern on the backstrap reminds me of an Ed Brown a little bit. The Operator releases today, December 20th, 2021.

Springfield currently has four other bushing barrel .45 ACP Operator models with different trim and paint, all under the Loaded line. There are 2 cone barrel .45 ACP Operator models under the TRP line. The most recently released model has the lowest MSRP of $1099, which makes it the most logical to purchase, as you’ll spend less for stuff you’ll probably throw away. This has all MIM parts, but all of their 1911s mentioned above are all metal. I have TRPs.

Just got one in December 2023. Very nice. Had a trigger job done to get a 3.7 ppund trigger creep. Changed the G10 grips out for Magpul 1911 grips. Remedied the lack of checkering with a piece of Talon grip tape for the front strap. Fits my Streamlight TLR-1 1,000 lumen light perfectly. Takes rotation as my nightstand bodyguard with a Wilson 10 round magazine packing Fedwral HST Premium 230 grain +P JHP.

I have a TRP too and I love it. This isn’t the same gun at all. Every part is a MIM part, not cut from bar stock. That detail would make it expensive, and Springfield wants to sell quantity. You and I paid $1600/1700 for a TRP, most people don’t. They buy the $800 Ronin. Hell, you can get a Ronin Government and an EMP 1911 for $1600. I’m sure this is a solid gun, but…you really want one. @@marksd5650 I bought the lightweight commander ronin in 45. I had my gunsmith replace the mim parts ( thumb saftey, slide stop, extractor ect) with wilson combat Bullitt proof forged parts. I really want to have a rail and front strap checking done but, for what I payed so far between the price of the gun and the gunsmithing plus parts, I could have bought a wilson combat.

The Operator never went away. There’s the Loaded Operator which is this exact gun minus a mag well, and the MC Operator, which is this exact gun just with a green frame and another variant with some strap texture. This is just the same thing they’ve been making for years with a slightly different rear sight……and they still haven’t figured out we want a 9mm version.

was told that 70 series when dropped muzzle down it can discharge a round even if the safety is on due to the inertia moving the firing pin forward. I read somewhere this can be fixed by switching out the firing pin an replace it with a titanium firing pin. Not sure how that helps though.

My only 2 issues are the feed ramp never being 100% smith on these and no one ever coming up with a modern mag follower when I do qualifications almost every time one or more mag has the follower turn, stick, fly apart. just wish someone would come up with a new mag follower. Other than that my operator has been fantastic. the only thing with mine is I think i have gotten to much lube in the frame .I feel slight movement of parts when dry firing.

I'd tried skateboard tape. Too abrasive. Then I bought a pack of Talon grip tape. Most come pre cut fir Glocks or Sigs. Talon sells sheets of them, but my gunshop couldn't order them. So I bought a kit pre cut for a large Glock and just cut out a strip of paper and made a template, then cut the Talon grip tape and applied it. Works real well.

But I've never seen a pre made 1911 railed woth light. Specify light as Streamlight is different than Surefire profiles.

It’s not your fault that Springfield sent you an Operator. This gun is a yawn. There are currently four other bushing barrel .45 ACP Operator models with different trim and paint, all under the Loaded line. There are 2 cone barrel .45 ACP Operator models under the TRP line. The most recently released model has the lowest MSRP of $1099, which makes it the most logical to purchase, as you’ll spend less for stuff you’ll probably throw away. At least it comes with VZ grips installed, just as my $1600 TRP did so that’s a plus. My guess is they didn’t need to change anything about the assembly line, only the roll marks are different. What do you think? I still gave you a thumbs up (always do) because your reviews are great. As I said it’s not your fault they sent you this gun. Best Regards

@TheRancor53 2 года назад
This gun hits the sweet spot for price and features though. 1500 for a TRP that has MIM parts (not knocking that, they run great) is often beyond budget for many. You’d have to go 1800 for a Dan Wesson specialist to really beat this.

Nothing new. If Springfield really wishes to be original and innovative they should develop a double stacked 3011 either in .45 ACP or in 10mm with Bull Barrel and fully adjustable Target Sights !
@ghodge82
@ghodge82 2 года назад
Adjustable sights suck in real life. If you want a higher capacity go with another .45 or even FN’s FNX-45, 15rnd capacity but not 1911.. those adjustable can be tweeked beyond repair and even then brand new, get pressed on pushed in, pulled back. I can’t stand em
@franknapolitano9144
@franknapolitano9144 2 года назад
@@ghodge82 ..For my personal use, and for the use of my friends at the club, we prefer 1911s in double stack format for in the 10mm cartridge. I got plenty of traditional TRP 1911s. The adjustable sights do help when using different loads of 10mm. As for Springfield's TRP line, they are reinventing the wheel, something new is needed.
