i think it is the amount of time we get to relive in the sadness. in 4 mins its not a lot of time to process the sadness. thats what i feel is missing:)

You are not alone! I stumbled upon this trend in the gaming community and saw a lot of potential in it for cartoons and anime. Though often short, the cartoon versions have a couple solid videos but like you, I always found the anime version lacking. I kept asking myself why... And it seems the reason is because a lot of the greatest moments in Japanese Animation loses value without context. While I find the storytelling to be more compelling than cartoons, anime does not have many stand alone qoutes that perfectly captures a theme in a single moment. Though it may feel out of place, there are a lot of parallels between anime and history. I've found that quoting famous philosophers, authors/artists, geniuses, War Lords, and other such individuals that made a name for themselves helps mend those "missing gaps". Anime is such a detailed genre, it makes sense that it also requires more effort to showcase its appeal. Like cloucore said, 4 minutes is not enough.
