As an ex plumber . Due to the size hole made for pipework you may want to put some small cuts of membrane around pipe as it goes through timber otherwise your have squeaking noises as pipework heats up . When is your next live stream ? . Keep up the great videos guys .
Thats so interesting thank you for you advice, owwww yeah an other live stream is well over due weve just had a very interesting year with lots going on behind the scenes, have a lovely week
If anyone can pull this off I think you two can do it. I think the impact of how long you have had the boat , and how much more needs to be done , really hit today. Hang in there Bex and Chris!!! Sopranella needs to go cruising! 🦆 😊🤗 Kathy
You’re so close to cruising guys ! I know it’s been a long journey for you but it’s gunna be soooooo worth it !!! Bex your doing so bloody well ! I’m proud of what you’ve achieved this far ( you too Chrissy crobot!)x see you on the next plumb with bex episode ! X hope you have a good week xx
as messy as the boat looks, weve actually come so far so there cant be too long left can there?? Bex has really done the whistling wombat proud...thank you Mandy have a. lovely week
So thrilled and surprised to be greater with a new video this morning!! I know they’re a lot of work, so thank you❤. As for me I don’t care for the short videos, but that’s me, I’m always wanting more, lol. Im so impressed with you Bex how much you’ve learned and how fearlessly you charge ahead bypassing any and all obstacles. Hopefully each day draws you closer to finally cruising, I feel your frustration at times, but the Crobot Narrow Boat will be an amazing craft to be once finished (as if any boat is ever finished).
Good job Bex as always. We all know when you're on the job it will be done correctly. If you need ventilation for the gas locker, why not purchase a small vent, cut a hole in one of the doors, screw in the vent, done! If you want to be over cautious have one in each gas locker door. Great video as always. Take good care of yourselves guys ~ Hugs & XO Lacy, Mike & Hamish🐾 PS. I bet when you close your eyes you can see the entire Wombat all spic 'n span with a Snore room, bedroom, bath all finished. The day will come, just hang in there. ⛵🙌
Sorry, I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see the pipe work finished. Oh well that's content for the next vlog! Always fun watching you two's antics!! Thx to you both!!
Bless you, you’re getting there! Good idea doing all the plumbing with fresh piping. Hopefully that will stop any future issues with leaks and give you peace of mind to know you won’t have to do it again for a few years. I don’t know how you cope working around all of your belongings in such a tight spot. You got this! 🤗
Wow Bex you just never cease to amaze me. The bright side to all of this is you know EVERYTHING about your boat and any future problem, though I doubt there will be any, will be a piece of p#&& for you to fix up. Damn mate, so well done, pat on the back. Great to see you both, take care and see you soon. 🥰
@@TheNomadicCrobot this is so true, learning to do it yourselves will save you so much money in the long run as you will know exactly how to fix it. Plus it’s feels so good and empowering learning new skills, good ole RU-vid university and sharing your skills on what you have had to learn (even tho I’m sure it’s so frustrating as you just want to get out on the cut exploring) The best part will be when you pass your BSS and get to enjoy your adventures knowing that if anything does go wrong you both can fix it. We just have to make sure you are stocked up with plenty of marigolds 🤣😂by clicking the like and subscribe buttons 😉😉 🤗🤗and buying a brew or three 😉
Hi your doing a cracking job, but if you connect a compression fitting to plastic pipe always wrap ptfe tape around the copper olive. Because thats where you make seal. Hope this helps.
hi hello hope your both well. Full time cruising nomads very soon, can’t wait. Beck your plumbing skills are impeccable. i’ve loved watching since you brought the old girl. All the best anyway, stay safe you too 👊🏻
Glad to see and hear some very good advice and progress to your bss hope you don't encounter any other problems and your both enjoying cruising our waterways very soon
Persistent will pay off. Watching g a video of a project I wouldn't normally be interested in. Watch it because you both are great and still make it entertaining. Great sound track at the end .
Becky, you don't put PTFE tape on the threads of a compression joint. It's the olive that creates the seal, not the threads. The tape won't do anything at all if the olive fails.
Dear Chris and Becca, Chris regarding the gas locker, you might require something similar to a plastic louvered grill which will allow any fumes out should there be a gas leak. You will probably find them at B&Q for about 7 pounds each Becca do yourself a favor and mark the pipes to indicate which are hot and which are cold. In the future you will appreciate this should you need to identify them. Definitely looking forward to next week. Take care, Mark Alberta, Canada
I have actually done that exact thing! You will see on the next episode!! Such a simple but mega useful thing to do for if you're ever trying to work out pipe things in the future! Thanks Mark!
@@TheNomadicCrobot check with the safety rules...as far as I know we had bottles don't need overall ventilation. The important thing is drain holes at floor level because gas is heavier than air and pools at the bottom during a leak
THe black nails and stripey sleeves give a bit of a Beetle Juice vibe to it. Now that's a whole new twist on plumbing that most of us wouldn't have thought of.
Hi Becca, Chris, Glad to see your waterworks are nearly ready. Becca you are a Genius. I could never do what your doing. Loving the way you explain everything (although it's way over my head) but still, it's ipulsive listening. Maybe your BSS examination person is a fan of your channel, and if so he will know how dedicated you both are. Chris thanks for your updates on your Canopy covers and Gas storage lockers. Really enjoyed this week's Vlog. Thank you, Spoolbox.
Hi Spoolbox, what a lovely comment, Thank you for all the love and support, Isn't Bex so clever learning all the plumbing ready for our cruise, fingers cross this all works out for us both.Have a lovely week
Ptfe on the thread for compression fittings is not always a good idea, its not the thread that seals, the seal is the collar of the olive, that been said if its dry ...result, good work on tackling the plumbing
You want the hot water lines as short as possible after the calorifier (sp?) ... Everytime you want hot water, you are going to have to let it run to emply out the no-longer-hot water in the pipes, before you get hot water again. So you'll be wasting a bit of water every time.
The only ventilation the gas locker needs is drain holes at the bottom, above the waterline. Unlike natural gas, liquified petroleum gas is heavier than air so any gas that leaks will sink to the bottom of the locker.
How the heck do you live on the boat! Thought mine was cluttered, but you don't seem to have enough room for anything! Love your vlogs and admire you both for your effort. You will get there eventually 👍
Just a comment, you don’t need to put ptfe tape on the compression nut, it serves no purpose to seal the joint. If your not sure about the joint put a small strip around the olive only, but should not be needed
When I had a go at domestic plumbing a while back, I found that plastic pipe thickness varied between manufacturers. So even though the internal dimensions were the same, there was a mismatch and caused a leak. I had to buy fittings made by the pipe manufacturer to cure the problems 🤷🏼♂️
I think an inspector must find something wrong or they think they aren't doing their job right. So I leave one or two things in plain sight and very easy to correct. So that way they are not hunting for other things to point out. That are really harder to fix. Just a thought.
@@TheNomadicCrobot For example........If your propane tanks need a bracket to secure them. Have one made up so you can "Fix" the problem and text a picture of the repair to the inspector. Just a thought.
I hope someone here can counter my comment that it is ci,pletely unnecessary to use that white teflon tape on the fitting thread…. Clamping makes in watertight not the outer thread
