The after effects of World War II was still steeped in the public consciousness. People were still humble and respected one another. Now it has been diluted and people hold each other in contempt all for the love and pursuit of Money, made all the worse by social media and the internet. War in some respects is good for society, not that I condone War.
Big Ron going that World Cup cost him his job at Utd. Apparently Martin Edwards told him not to go and prep for the next season as was a big season for him and he went. Was gone by end of Oct.
I was 6 at the time, and I can still remember vividly large chunks of that tournament, especially the Argentina vs England game and the final. Still the only tournament I have picked the winner before it started.
I was 9. My first world cup. Loved every bit of it. The massive stadiums bathed in sunshine. A month of live football which was a rariety in the pre Sky world. Shortly after the final I went to Italy on holiday.
I remember I was 16yrs old when this came on TV I was in the final year of class at school & we were given permission to watch it on a big TV 📺 then we got all the way to the semi final only to be cheated out of a place in the final by dirty Diego Maradona & his infamous "hand of god" quite how? or? why? the referee's didn't stop the game & send him off for blatant handball is anyone's guess he must be the only player to ever have blatantly & openly cheated at a world cup finals & got away with it even though everything was seen on live TV for me it was the 1 incident that made a laughing stock of FIFA ⚽️
That’s because he never quite cut it internationally . Because he lacked guile , deception and trickery . It was 1 gear and 1 gear only with him , full pelt . Against international/World cup quality defenders , they can see that coming from a mile away .
@@princesofthepower3690 yes 21 goals in 63 games is utter rubbish isn't it ? 🤣🤣🤣 England players score against the mighty Andorra and Faroe Islands and their world beaters now !!!!🤣
@@princesofthepower3690 In the 1974 World Cup final, Berti Vogts marked Cruyff out of the game. I saw Kevin Keegan run Vogts ragged in the 1977 European Cup Final. The idea that Keegan couldn’t cut it internationally is risible.
