Global warming that COULD mean the total extinction of ALL humanity matters.. foodbanks, rapidly growing disparity between the haves and have nots, 10 years of austerity and financial struggle, zero-hours contracts, Islamic extremism and phobia, Academisation of secondary education, semi-privatized NHS, climate change, unaffordable/unobtainable rents and mortgages, pernicious social media, and bullying of children, 15-year wage stagnation, Immigration..COVID -19 PANDEMIC ..Oceans FULL of plastic bottles... HIV ... Cancer ..Double-digit inflation ... Empty shops on the high street ALL MATTER... Some men kicking a football around a field for 90 minutes does NOT matter.

This was Jimmy Hill's penultimate game for ITV the European Cup Final 10 days after the England v Scotland game (Jimmy Hill's final game for ITV) is Jimmy Hill's first game as the BBC's main Football presenter

I was at that game. It was Northern Ireland's home fixture but played at Goodison because of the Troubles.

Let’s not forget that Alf Ramsey was the England Manager who won the World Cup. Alf was a man of the 1950s and 1960s and should have left the England Manager’s job after the 1970 World Cup. Malcom Allison would have been a great England Manager.

Soccer in the 70s didn't start until the 1974 World Cup. Before then we were still stuck with 1960s kits and attitudes.

@@Ruda-n4h Quite agree with you sir, the game was starting to change dramatically and the 66 squad were starting to age . Also Alf found it hard to drop any of the 66 squad out of loyalty. From around 73 Club football was starting to be more a privilege than playing for England and this is a big problem today?. Also luved Brian Clough on the panel ' he always spoke his mind without fear and if he upset you it was your problem. Ramsey was bullet proof for years because of the World Cup win and the F.A. was never going to sack him until something disastrous happened - other countries would have done. If Ron Greenwood had been appointed in 1970 the future might have been a lot better but the job came seven years too late for him. As for Cloughie we now know that he was blotto on TV a lot of the time which is why I think he was controversial. Malcolm Allison was also worth listening to and knew the game, but the 'Big Mal' persona got in the way as time went by.

That wasn't a penalty. I was a defender and England's Peter Storey is doing a 50/50 lean on him. The attacker went down a little too easy.

Sobering to think that in 2021 we are having the same arguments about what makes a foul in the penalty box. If I had a pound for every pundit who’s said exactly the same words as Malcom Allison since I’d be very rich! Peter Storey was a hard man hatchet man with 0 skill or technique! He wouldn’t get any where near the Arsenal or England team today and thank the lord Football has moved forward since then!

@@markbailey1970 But of their three World Cup Qualifiers in 1973 - they lost away to Poland, drew at home to Wales and Poland and FAILED to qualify for the World Cup in 1974. I stand by my original statement.

Michael Muldowney They should have smashed Poland at home though, in a totally one sided game. Aside from that England were replete with outstanding talent. Even greater depth than 1966-70. We had Lee, Bell, Chivers, Peters, Ball, Channon, Clarke, Currie, Hudson, Hector, Todd, McFarland, Moore, Cooper, Thomas, Shilton, Clemence, Kennedy, Brooking, Hughes, Madeley, Hunter to name just a few really great players
