About half-an-hour before this match started, I walked up to my local Sainsbury's and bought a Häagen-Dazs Cookies & Cream ice lolly. Kimberley, the best looking girl in my year, was working there, that night. It's strange, some of the inconsequential shite that stays with you.
The best looking girl in my school, Emma, was absolutely incredible back then, I checked out her Instagram recently and now she's an absolute munter. Amazing isnt it.
This was my first International tournament as a young fan so i have very sentimental memories of Euro 2004. Thought i'd never see that intro again, Very state of the art for it's time. Also Southgate probably couldn't have dreamed in 14 years time he'd be guiding that same country even further, Into a World Cup semi final.
And yet still according to some people, Southgate should be sacked despite his acheivements with the England squad because we lost to Hungary and drew with Poland in games that dont even really matter....
@@blueleaf1717 England fans are clowns, and I'm an England fan. They moan about Gareth Southgate winning BBC Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2021 despite England not winning anything, yet Sven and Capello used to win this award just for qualifying for the tournament
@@rohithraman6488 absolutely correct, its just craziness. As with any manager, of course Southgate has his strengths and weaknesses but he has resurrected a team from the darkest of ages after the iceland debacle of 2016 and got us actually winning matches in big tournaments albeit against weaker opposition, but still a step forward from many prior years. His in-game tactics I would agree need review in terms of his substitution decisions but we have seen major progression under southgate and I was more than happy for him to stay on.
Your 1st International tournament ???? Nooooooooooo, why weren't you born earlier ,😡, whhyyyyy😅 , you missed Roberto baggio at usa 94 , zidane and ronaldo of france 1998 , and italy of euro 2000 who defended for 85 mins , had only 3 chances on the counter attack and scored all 3 😅. 😡 You must go on RU-vid now and catch up , start with all Roberto baggio world cup goals .
Yeah. Feels all "back in my day" but it just felt that 96-2004 (maybe 2006?) were the best for international tournaments. Surprises, great host countries, that nation captivated by how England did. Plus they were my formative years watching football, so it all just seemed so... amazing!
Having lived in Portugal I remember this day clearly. Being in the centre of Lisbon at the bus stop while a guy in a French jersey gave the middle finger to an old English woman passing by in a cab.
No holding midfielder against a formidable French team... I know many claim the French were fortunate to win but the 2nd half was actually quite even and their pressure proved too much in the end. Gerrard had a very poor game and it was encapsulated by his horrendous decision to pass the ball backwards towards James. Ledley King was rather impressive...
It's easy to forget we had a bloody penalty thanks to the fearlessness of young Rooney, that Beckham squandered. He really wasn't the same player he was 2 years earlier when the country prayed day & night he'd be fit in time for the World Cup
Bonesaw is ready because you English talk the talk ONLY while Zizou walks the walk. The man literally bitch-slap you from couple set pieces at the end without breaking a sweat. Zidane 2-1 England😉
@@orahovavucichitlerdacicgoe7223 aint that the truth.. Even our "star" players have always been in reality very average compared to guys like Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, Benzema, Klose, to name but a few.. No English players within lightyears of those names
