Ah, I wish he would talk about it longer. I absolutely love the Beethoven concerto -- every part of it -- and I'm not even a Beethoven fan. I know it's one of the most performed violin concertos but I'd be very happy to hear it a hundred times a year.
For the last 45 years plus I have been to concerts with numerous great violinists. One concert, it must have been around 1975, stands out in particular: Mr. Perlman playing the Beethoven. I remember Mr. Perlman was in extraordinary good form that afternoon. His execution of the Beethoven was flawless, brilliant and inspired. His very unique sweet remembrance sound just soared through the hall. He played the Kreisler cadenzas. That afternoon mr. Perlman was the worlds greatest violinist. A very memorable afternoon. Thank you, Mr. Perlman
Thank you Itzhak for this evaluation which rings so true. My favorite concerto of all time. How can one tire of hearing the music of the gods. Each time it is new.
Itzhak Perlman is a wonderful Human Being and a living ball of Energy (that light up everybody within his field of radiation), a great Dad to his kids (including his students), a Musician, and an unbelievable Violinist, in that order! :-) Everything he has, he's more than earned, and he continues to give! If you have ever met him, you will never pirate another copy of classical CD to give to friends, or even to yourself!!!! Philip
I've never heard him talking. Never! I've seen him in all the amazing concerts, all around the world, on a DVD, in my country, in front of me( and the audience ofc ). Until now did I found out there is this video about him talking about one of his favorite piece. What a legend!
Mr Perlman, Growing up as a boy with a few cassette recordings with You on the cover and decades later saw you in real life (in Seattle) was an unbelievable thing, most of all was the fact that seeing You in person, I finally understood what "it" (You and Music) was all about, and how much the musicians enjoyed You sharing your music with them!!! I agree with You, and glad that You agree (unknowingly) with me about the Beethoven's Concerto..,always something new...! Philip
I do too! They remind me of the random faces that very young (2-3 month old) infants make, especially when sleeping, but it's very sweet when the great Master Perlman makes them while playing. Maybe it seems goofy to most people that some of us could like those funny expressions, but I do!
Play more! Please, please play more! It is so wonderful to hear, see and learn how the beautiful, tone emanates. One can learn so much from this - Thank you! Thank you for taking the time to share your hard earned knowledge. : )
my dream is to hear you play live. i wanted to go to the concert you are performing at the NAC in ottawa (im from ottawa) but it sold out, and so did the montreal one. one day i will hear you play.
What do you say to a highly-acclaimed, respected violinist worldwide. So many years of recordings and TV performances watched by family members who love you. Unforgettable experiences! ❤❤🥰😊🤗🌹😇 Your greatly- admiring fans
The classical music that can be qualified as "my first classical music" that I listened to out of my own volition was the Beethoven's violin concerto in LP which was recorded with performance of Itzhak Perlman and an orchestra some forty years ago. I was listening to the whole piece in a library sitting quietly every stroke of bow fiddled on the strings and the orchestra playing the music marvellously. It is interesting to hear what Mr. Perlman is speaking aboit the concerto that I used to listened to now from him.
I wish I had a teacher like you for violin! I've been playing almost 10 years now but I feel like I've only been playing properly for about 2 because ... well to be honest I took my violin for granted when I was younger *red face* . You put so much feeling into your playing , its wonderful - someday I wish I could play like you Mr Perlman! XD XD THANKYOU!
It would be a once in a life time experience to ever hear You Mr. Perlman to play the Beethoven Concerto life! I suppose i am greedy :-) I saw and heard you playing Vivaldi in Seattle, that was not just amazing (I mean how does one do something that stands out can catches one's attention when you hear Vivaldi's every day on ring tones and on-holds, and yes besides playing well, really well), and it, the performance was totally unexpected in every way, and even the musicians really enjoyed too!
I love you so much that I subscribed and I don't even play, I just want to watch you explain and demonstrate your skills. this girl from the hood loves you.
I thank you for your excellent performance. I wish you health! May the Lord bless you! Sorry do not know English and write through a translator. I'd like to hear your advice on playing the violin. How do you remove from it the divine sounds.
Thank you very much for answering. I went on his fb but never found the 'send message' options, did i miss something? The only thing i can do seems to post a comment to a picture, which will be lost in the thousands of comments he gets anyway...
Hello Mr. Perlman, I had a question for you, what tips/suggestions would you give to someone in a high school orchestra practicing the Violin Partita No.2 in D Minor?
hi im luke i stared playing violin at 7 and im 14 now and im grade 8 and also a orchestra leader however my passions is not to be a orchestra player something else means more to me and that is being a soloist would u mind telling me what do i need to do to become a soloist and what routes to follow and how did u became a soloist
Oh wow, amazing video right here! Thank you for your sharing! Can I repost your channel on another platform known as Ganjing World? Everything will be kept as is with full credit and source. Please let me know.
Me too! It looks like a really great experience..but I don't know if I am advanced enough yet :P schradiek number 12 and 8 still seem like taking cough syrup every time I play them, and I'm having a double stop bonanza atm. I'm on my third set of caluses bc of them. haha oh joy..
I first bought this concerto in 1967, on a vinyl disc. It was a wonderful recording, played by David Oistrakh, who was a great musician. But the hole in the middle of the disc was off-centre, so the sound went up and down as it turned. It was years before I realized all I had to do, to hear it properly, was make the hole bigger and re-centre it.
Could you make a video talking about glazunov and korngold violin concerto's please. If not thanks anyways for posting videos on RU-vid in the first place
Sir,I have a question I started violin 2 months ago and I think I am learning it fast. Can you suggest me some technique books and Music School so I can go i
Long slow bows. ( not my words but concentrate on one thing at once. Tone, pitch, rhythm, or check if it feels easy to play). Above all listen to the sound you make.
As a musician, your experience, your skills and your career, do you think you know everything you need to know about the violin or if you believe you can still learn more? Do you consider yourself to be at the top of your art, or do you consider yourself as someone who has a lot more to learn?
In my humble opinion, though it was not written to be easy in fingering and bowing for the violinist, but, unlike almost all other violin concerti that were written for the violinist, Beethoven's was written for the violinist and equally for the violin, a huge distinction!
I can play and/or listen to the Beethoven Concerto non stop and same with you and your playing Mr. (sorry Maestro) Perlman (in Europe you would be Sir/Lord Perlman, just like Menuhin, but who cares1 :-)) Darn you just make it seem so easy, and evert time I see this video or think of it i would give it a go, but every time it's like climbing Mt Everett, it's either the instant freezing weather or running out of oxygen! This process would repeat itself like a Pixar animation movie! :-) Philip
could you please talk about mozart? i would love to listen what you thing about him, and please mr pearlman come to mexico. Also it could hurt to make the videos a little longer, is wonderful to hear you talk.
@itzahkperlman Hello Mr Perlman, please read. I HAVE A QUESTION: lately i've decided i would like to go into music and become a performing soloist. I just started to dedicate my time into my violin i'm playing Mozart's 5th concerto, Bach's 1st sonata and some studies; Polo, Kreisler. BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM. I dont know how to becaome a great soloist like you and really really want to. How do you get far in music? How do you achieve such perfection. It would mean the worl if you could answer.-SB
To support a child through the learning, practicing and mastering a musical instrument simply means money. Not sure if your parents have a large family to support but one should be grateful and indebted to one's parents but not angry with them.
It's okay. There are tons of very, very good violinists that started a little later in life. Don't worry about genius and fame; if you love it enough, you'll put in the hard work. In time, you'll be just where you want to be.
Hi. I need to know if you would rather go by Itzhak or Mr.Perlman because I know by fact that Jascha Heifetz got annoyed when people didn't call him Mr.Heifetz. I hope you can respond to this comment
This morning, I was thinking, the Beethoven can possibly be both keyboard and violin, or purely violin... In any case, it is incorrectly titled as Concerto for Violin and Orchestra: it is actually Concerto for greatest Violinist(s), Extraordinary Violin and exceptional Orchestra.
Practice your head off. You need determination. Heart. and God. If you want, there's a perlman music camp you can look up online and audition for it for next year. I've heard its fantastic. Opportunities like national youth orchestra's, music festivals, and competitions are fairly easy to find. Sign up and audition for a bunch of those and get practicing! Make performance opportunities for yourself, benefit concerts and such. Thats how I am getting started. :) cheers! and good luck!
