This song was about texting at the beginning of a relationship. The blue and grey are the text bubbles. IU said she feels the most poetic when she's composing texts during this time. That's why the song feels and sounds the way you guys described it. Listen to Through the Night.

This is an honest thought.😊 She actually tried a lot of genre and she always nail it. I always watch your reaction and for me you only saw 5% of what she can do or how awesome she is. Her live since debut is way better than her studio or her MV they don’t give justice with how good she is. Plus she is a humble and a loyal person despite her success.Listen to her song Dear Name live too. Thank you!

It's really obvious that you've got into iu bcuz you have many reactions of her. You can also check her other songs. She's a very versatile artist and she make her own songs now. Listen to her GOOD DAY, Red shoes, twenty-three, through the night. And many more

I would give the real blueming MV a listen for the recorded version even though I love the live performance video the most. the lyrics are what I think makes the song even better. she wrote clever, witty lyrics about falling in love over text, specifically iPhone messaging with the grey and blue speech bubbles. I agree with the nod to the early 2000s pop / rock girls I love it.

Interesting that you picked her performance video of this song, instead of the official MV. You will get a better perspective with the original MV but can better appreciate IU's vocal and the instrumentation behind the song. This performance is actually a bit edgier than than official MV, probably because of the sharper sound from the drum (almost rock-like). This is indeed something new from IU.
