I've always loved this song since I first heard it. But recently, my beloved dog who is like my child has just died. And this song now hits me more than it used to be. She has been doing that if the rapper is missing. She did GD's part in "Pallete" when GD cant come to her concert. Also, with the news of BTS making their own album (idk the details), i suspect Suga wont be with her promoting this song so yeah, i think she will always do the rap part from now on. It'll be cool if Suga make a sudden appearance tho

전 지은씨랑 동갑인 여자예요. 스물세살때 지은씨가 낸 23이란 노랠 들으면서 참 많이 공감했어요. 좋아해서 선택했다고 믿었던 길에 자신이 없어져서 다 때려치고 싶었는데, 23이란 노래에서 딱 그런 고민을 느꼈든요. 결국 전 다른 길을 택했고 계속 앞으로 앞으로 걸어왔어요. 그런데, 작년에 제 가까웠던 친구가 사고로 세상을 떠나고, 스물여덟이 된 지금은... 모든게 맘대로 왔다갔다하는 것 같고, 영원이란 없는것 같고, 앞으로 계속 걸어갈 추진력도 조금은 흐려진것같고 그래요. 그래서인지 이 노래 역시 마음에 와닿아요. 항상 공감할수있는 노랠 들려줘서 고마워요. 지은씨랑 동갑인게 참 감사해요 저는. 스물세살때 그 모진 풍파를 견디면서 얼마나 힘들었을지, 동료들을 떠나보내고 얼마나 힘들었을지 상상도 못하겠지만.. 견뎌줘서 고마워요. 아마 지은씨는 서른이 되든 마흔이 되든 언제까지나 좋은 가수일거라고 생각해요. 앞으로도 기대할게요!

Idk. Why, but i really feel her sadness while she's singing. It's hard to forget all the memories she had with her closest friends, it's like forgetting your own name. She's a strong woman indeed. Her pure self is one of the proof why a lot of people are admiring her, she deserve all reasons to be happy in this world, she deserve everything. The reason you can hear recording is because there are "recording being used" here and that is because instead of using backup singer to sing the harmonies live they prerecorded it instead using her voice since according to IU she harmonize best with herself. During her concerts she also more often use this way of singing live. Also i would like to think that you DID thought that her live singing was prerecorded cause if not you would have not claim that all of this is not live.

abby sommersdorf same. A lot of ppl think the song is about Sulli or Jonghyun. I personally don’t think that. It’s more about your younger self being more confident and risky than you in the present.

Zareendipity S. I personally think the girl in the white dress is IU’s younger self. And the one on the plane is her present self. She cried seeing her younger self be more confident and risk taking then her now. And the chameleon in my opinion, represents her youth. It disappeared in the MV, that’s when it started to rain on her. But you can see him again in the past as a dragon, which means it was stronger.

She was referring to sulli and jonghyun and were asking them if they were happy.she also says "There is no such thing as decided farewells Meet me in that memory that was once beautiful" She was telling them how they will forever stay in her heart and memories since there is nothing such as "decided farewells" and how they left without a goodbye.in suga's part the island is memory and how he says that they meet they're again.

I love how she covered Suga's part and not made it seem like a rap or just singing either. Her way of doing everything is just so different and unique. Even her songs are so unique and different. Like sometimes when you hear some music it might remind you of another artist but when you listen to IU's music it just reminds you of her and her unique taste in music.
