Lleva azahar, lleva olivas, Andalucía, a tus mares.
¡Ay, amor que se fue por el aire!
Federico García Lorca (español)

About the piece:
Baladilla de los tres ríos is the first movement of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Romancero Gitano, inspired by the poetic works of Federico García Lorca. This movement beautifully captures the essence of Spanish folklore, evoking images of three rivers that symbolize the journey of love and longing. The delicate interplay between the choir and guitar highlights the rich textures of the music, with the guitar providing a vibrant and rhythmic backdrop to the lyrical vocal lines. Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s use of colorful harmonies and intricate melodies creates a captivating atmosphere that draws the listener into the emotional landscape of Lorca’s poetry.
About the Composer:
Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968) was an Italian composer known for his lyrical and colorful style.
