I think the reason for that it is how Price explains it later in the game. He's conducting False Flag Operations. He has his men posing as Americans and British operators so when the Russian Government looks into what happened, they'll see what appears to be Westerners helping Makarov escape, kinda like what happened with Allen in the original MW2. Plus, Konni Group is a Private Military Organization. PMC's usually take on variety of different nationalities. That, or maybe these dudes are Ration Nationals who have studied abroad where English is the native language.

As a friend once told me, don't make excuses for the writers. If this was something they actually thought about enough to write in, they would have written it in. The reboot series is filled with easter eggs and parallels to the original series, and those are explicit. This was not.

I'm not sure about the fist detail, since the normal practice for breaching is that the one who open the door is supposed to enter the room last. Makarov decided to take point for some weird reasons, despite only using sidearm

That part was so irritating. You have multiple heavily armed and geared up guys ready to breach, but Makarov decides to risk his life for no good reason by going in first with only a handgun. It's such a stupid way to write Makarov as a character. He's supposed to be a ruthless and intelligent strategist. Sure, he's not afraid to get his hands dirty every once in a while, but he's not some kind of one-man-army and he should know better than to take an unnecessary risk like that just to... idk... flex I guess?

We're in (and have been for quite some years to be fair) the Marvel era, where cool and flashy is the most important thing. It's like the era of 80s action films, just with CGI this time around. What's irritating to me about it is that it shits on their attempts to try and bring a sense of "realism" to the Universe. That kind of shit happened in early CODs too, but they get somewhat of a pass because they never pretended to be something they weren't.

There is actually zero reason why Konni Soldiers should give Makarov their loyalty, since he just uses them as a toy he can play around with. He leads them into ambushes and doesn't care about them getting killed in massive numbers.

They really probably could've done a lot more with Ivan, like make him attempt to kill Makarov at the Gulag but fails, forcing him to flee on his own, meets TF141 and has a very mini redemption arc, then ends up getting killed by Makarov along with Soap. Idk maybe thats me.

I wouldn’t say suspicious makarov in this game is all about timing to get things done when Ivan stop the elevator he mess with the timing for makarov which in turn made him feel like he got disrespected and that Ivan didn’t truly believe in makarov plans even though it wasn’t Ivan’s intentions he wanted to be sure his commander was safe

Hang on, I'm going back to the OG MW2 to hear what the jets in the gulag mission call out for their missiles. EDIT: they used Fox-3. Isn't that unguided missiles? Makes way more sense than Fox-2 lol. Or maybe I just don't know better. Seems excessive to me, but maybe it's different cause it's dark and cold, humans in a heated tower would light up really bright on IR tracking.

@@Abridgelion If I recall, Fox-1 = semi-active radar missile, Fox-2 = Infrared missile and Fox-3 = active radar missile. Only way you'd be able to use a Fox-3 (Ex: The AIM-120 AMRAAM) is if you dumb fire it.

The other guys in “No Russian” were Kiril, Lev and Viktor. Viktor was killed by the HVI in his safe room at the end of Exodus. The other two were killed by the FSB at the airport. There’s no Ivan or Andrei Nolan in MW2. That’s why “no-one gonna talk about it”.

3:18 after he helped Andrei to get on the boat, another soldier on the boat also helped another man that i was pretty sure it's Ivan. you see i think makarov didn't even bother to look back to see if Ivan was there or not, he just told the driver to go. 3:36 before he hints about loyalty, he looked back to see Ivan. and clearly mentioning unwavering loyalty while looking at Ivan.

I like this one better he was focus on dealing as much damage as he can to rile up 141 he killed Ivan cause he doubted the escape which got Makarov upset that he didn’t believe in the commanders plan yes his plans were foiled by 141 but he wanted them to take risk so he could kill soap and price which he almost got both if weren’t for ghost and gaz interruption the next game he probably gonna have bigger plans

That cartoon villain as you say did blowup an airfield cause he tricked them to go to the stadium instead he was hoping ghost was there but he was in the plane with him 4 years ago now both the og and new one attack a airfield one shoot down civilians which is brutal but new guy destroyed it completely with bombs which is more of a impact cause soap was ready to shoot the mf for it but was told to stand down by price

My guess is Ivan is the "Private Allen" of this game. The guy who Sheperd takes from the Rangers in the original MW2 and plants him in Makarov's ranks during the "No Russian" mission where Makarov sniffs him out, and uses him to his advantage.

Ivan was never betraying makarov Ivan was one of the best in konni. Makarov been in that prison for four years he came up with the plan and he know about the helicopter and didn’t even tell his soldiers besides the helicopter already was in the air and they didn’t have time to take it out , and you can see that makarov and Nolan regrets killing Ivan because that’s their friend, Ivan and Nolan was get partners I wish we could’ve seen more of them, makarov, Nolan, and konni could still use Ivan leadership and skills to fight 141, shadow company, and UFL so makarvo plan can work . We all don’t know the history between Makarov, Ivan, and Nolan but they must had been really good friends.

This Makarov was good but he fails at being the menacing mysterious character he was in the original, everything from the sound of his voice, the way he speaks, and how they portrayed him by hierarchy of scale where he is always standing above you. If the previous Makarov was a masterful boogeyman always 10 steps ahead, than this guy is a marvel villain.

I'm nor really sure about this First detail, it is stupid for the VIP to breach and clearing with a pistol, but I believe they did it to show how "cool" Makarov is Second detail, pausing the elevator wasn't originally the plan since they may have gotten Makarov in danger; However Makarov says they should stick with it, no questions asked And the helicopter firing at them was fhe straw for Makarov to kill Ivan with the dialogue of "if it was a problem, you should have dealt with it!", continuing with removing his ranks as squad leader and killing him, promoting Nolan instead
