IVE and NewJeans are the 4th gen leaders, who, combined, brought the Korean general public back to start listening to idol music again (they really haven't since around early/mid 2nd gen). Capturing that general audience (who outnumbers any fandoms out there) is why both groups achieved both crazy #s with insane sustainability. Like, my 80 y/o grandmother knows who Yujin (leader of IVE - the one that keeps getting your attention) and Minji are 😂😂
That's interesting. So the general public in Korea didn't listen to Twice, Red Velvet, or other 3rd Gen groups? I wasn't aware. Glad we have awesome groups like IVE and NewJeans to bring back the viewers!
They are talking about after bts and blackpink. Kpop was kinda boring during 2019-2021 I believe. It was full of girl crush songs and noise music so when these 2 groups debuted it was kind of a breath of fresh air. @@ShadowF-
After Like samples, Gloria Gaynor-I will survive. This group is really growing on me day by day on first! Most of their songs are growers for me but I love them eventually. Can't wait for the album tomorrow! Yujin is such a problem and my bias as well she attacks my edges every time she comes on screen and yes she is the leader.
I've does this thing with beat switches into the chorus and how they play with the tonality of their voices-- they do it in Love Dive and Eleven-- and I freaking love it.
IVE has been my obsession lately and Yujin is just 😍😍 Their songs are such a bop! Love Dive is still my favourite heh ❤️ By any chance have you watched Oh My Girl? Could you react to IZ*ONE? Two members Wonyoung and Yujin from IVE are in that group! You should also check out Le sserafim as two members from that group were also in IZ*ONE!
When you have time, check out "Earth Arcade". It's a travelling variety show that had Ahn Yujin on, and she is something else in that show 😂😂. It was also one of the most viral TV shows in Korea in 2022.
So giving u a bit of trivia here : IVE debuted in 2021 BUT two of their members (YuJin the leader and Wonyoung the visual) were in IZ*ONE before so yeah they add this "not so rookie" energy in the group tho nowadays rookies have way too much charisma for kids ngl xD. Anw, IVE is the big one among 4th gen. For me, they're leading with Purple Kiss, NMIXX and Le Sserafim. Some people will add NewJeans into the list but idk... Can't feel their songs that much so yeah, not my favs :P Also Love Dive is the most popular cause it won SOTY in 2022. And yup, you read well : they got a SOTY on their first cb (like TWICE actually lol) and listening to "I AM" right now (their brand new title released few hours ago) they're on the way for SOTY 2023 like no joke... If u ask me which one is my fav from these 3 I would say "After Like" tho I absolutely love the 3 songs. And overall, I think their new one "I AM" is about to become my fav from them ^^
as far as popularity and commercial success for "monster rookie groups" goes: "IVE", "New Jeans" and "Le Sserafim" are the "BIG 3" at the moment. "Purple Kiss" (and some other groups like "Kep1er" or "Billlie") are not in the same league as them. "NMIXX" had a somewhat controversial start, but is on their way back to success. I would not see them on the same level as the "BIG 3" yet but they might get there. "(G)I-DLE" does very well since their debut and especially in 2022. They technically are also 4th Gen, but they're not rookies anymore (similar to groups like Aespa or Itzy). Of course we will also get "Babymonster" from YG very soon and I suspect, they will start right at the top. :D
