This is one of those shows that is better than you expected and in ways you did not expect.

It is definitely a show worth checking out. It originally got its funding via kickstarter, raising over 11 million dollars. The first 2 episodes serve as a good introduction to the world and main cast of characters but the real story starts with episode 3. Season 1 was good with the back half being very action packed but I think season 2 is even better. The animation improved dramatically, not that it was bad in season 1, and I think the pacing was a bit better. Just watching the trailer for season 3 it looks like the animation has taken yet another leap forward, I cannot wait!

The Legend of Vox Machina is based on Critical Role's first Dungeons and Dragons game that they Livestreamed on Twitch. They are also in the process of animating and adapting their second campaign The Mighty Nein. (Its typically a fan favorite amongst critters and it's the most popular of their three campaigns.) Currently they are in their third campaign called Bells Hells and are about to hit their 10th anniversary of livestreaming their game. This campaign is basically tying everything together for an epic showdown like an avengers endgame scenario. What started out as a small game with a group of friends for Liam O'Brien's birthday (who just so happen to all be voice actors), has now turned into a series loved by many people across the world. If you do decide to watch it I hope you enjoy the ride because it's a doozy!

I will say that Season 1 of Vox Machina only starts to build and take off at episode 3, and though in total the series is one of my favorites of the decade, I can understand not getting too into ep1-2 if that's as far as you got, though they're a decent introduction to the characters. Very hard to say if you'll dig it- but most people who watch think it just continually gets better through S1 and then into S2. The action and fight animation just keeps getting better with practice and a better budget, and the stories twined up also are in depth, with a lot of heart as well as dirty humor and fairly gory violence. I definitely would say don't skip S1, because there are long-running plot threads that will carry on into S3 and beyond that get their root there. It's a show with a lot of little shit that if you catch it, all adds up to some satisfying results. I'd say try watching S1 through Ep 4 or 5 at least, and well, if it doesn't hook you, it doesn't hook you. It's hooked a lot of people =) I wound up subscribed to six or seven channels of people reacting to it because I like seeing folks having fun with it. But then, I could be considered biased, since I've been a fan of Vox Machina since I watched it as the original Dungeons & Dragons game the animated series is based off of.
