The two smartest individuals I grew up with were both extreme in faith and a desire to use their intelligence to make a difference in this world. In a small town of 6,300 people, one created his own business that was later acquired by Microsoft, the other worked as a geneticist. It is beautiful to see people excel to their ability.
If nature didn't practice 'Eugenics', I wouldn't have the pleasure to watch two brilliant people have this conversation. Eugenics is the foundation of civilization and life itself. The problem arises with compulsion, not voluntary selection. As long as people are selecting for themselves, it's a wonderful thing. But when govt forces you to select some and reject others, that's when it goes wrong. Voluntary, not compulsory. People on the left often have a much harder time accepting Eugenics because they cannot imagine a society without govt compulsion. It also goes against their core faith in equality.

@@grimsobad8545 Natural selection is nothing but eugenics in action. Homo sapiens are a product of eugenics practiced by nature. Yes, it's possible for two bright people to have mediocre kids. It's less likely, but still possible. That's how mendelian selection works. That doesn't negate the concept of natural selection, because we are the product of it. Ideology should be guided by reality, not the other way around. If reality shows some groups have a lower mean intelligence than others, that's a fact we would have to accept regardless of how it makes us 'feel'.

But did you seriously quote mendelian selection? 😂 mendelian selection is the inheritance of certain traits which is controlled by a *single gene* which consists of two alleles where one can be dominant of the other and other can be recessive, this isn’t professional level science its….10th grade science also It has been continuously been proven that intelligence (if its completely determined by genetics) it not even made of a single gene thats a dubious claim where even the scientists that completely believe in “eugenics” agree up on, also we aren’t even sure if intelligence is really inherited at all, the studies I’ve seen are just correlations. Now of course I’ve sen many professors have kids that go on to do great things in academia but I’ve seen just the same amount of kids that come from intellectual families don’t amount to anything in life. also some eugenicists believe *cancer* is a way of natural selection then by that logic Steve Jobs 🥺🥺
@@grimsobad8545 I gave the example of mendelian selection as the simplified version to indicate how offspring can have different traits than their ancestors. Intelligence is obviously a polygenic trait and I never implied otherwise. Intelligence is 80-90% heritable. Any scientist worth their salt already knows that. It was specifically selected because it enhanced the ability of their host to reproduce. It's a different matter that we now have a system where the bottom pit of society is outbreeding competent humans and reversing the trend that took millions of years to develop.
@@strauss7151 - there is a reason why Gregor Mendel used pea plants for his Mendelian experiments, human intelligence which i think it’s intimately related to consciousness is just too complex and not understood to “simply” it into mendelian selection - “Intelligence is 80-90% heritable” BULLSHIT absolutely there is no research out there that completely confirms that dubious claim, we can’t even define intelligence, there have been some studies suggesting that intelligence has an heritability of around 40-50% even that is put up for debate and cannot be declared as factual like I said most studies on this topic are just mere speculations

Would it be a fair compare IQ to visible spectrum of light? The further right on the scale you are the more of the spectrum can perceived. Meaning with a narrow spectrum you are limited what you can perceive.

@@chandac8084no, you're just not thinking in a nuanced way. Intelligence isn't unidimensional. One simple way to add nuance is depth vs speed. JvN was much faster than anyone. AE was much deeper, and JvN always envied that.
Steve Hsu is a physicist. He needs to team up with geneticists and biologists for his goal. The production of smart humans are NOT easy. One level of intelligence increase has to couple with the other increases. Otherwise, you will create crazy people. My mother was a MD doctor, and had told me 20-30 years ago about this. James Watson said there are a lot of mental defect babies amount MIT faculty couples (both parents working in MIT and smart people). There are a lot of "trash" genes which will turn out to be hidden "switches" for the so call "functional" genes.

"אלפים ורבבות" התקבצו סביב האידיאה הרוחנית שלו, כפי שכותב הרמב"ם בספר המדע, ומהם התהוותה האומה. זו לא אומה טבעית ככל אומות העולם, אלא התקבצות מלאכותית סביב חינוך שבונה קשר מיוחד בין בני אדם, הופך אותם להיות מחוברים "כאיש אחד בלב אחד". בלי הקו החינוכי הזה, מבחינה איכותית-מהותית לא קיים עם ישראל. לכן, לאורך ההיסטוריה זכה אצלנו החינוך לחשיבות עצומה. לא היה ילד שלא למד קרוא וכתוב, כולם עסקו משך כל החיים בלימוד המקורות שהסבירו מהו יחס נכון לדומם, לצומח, לחי, לבני האדם האחרים ולחברה בכללה. אותה תפיסת עולם שייסד אברהם פורטה אחר כך בתורת משה, ומנהיגי האומה היו אנשי חינוך במהותם. ספרי החינוך שלנו עברו מדור לדור משך אלפי שנים, ורק במאות השנים האחרונות התחלנו להיות מושפעים מהחינוך של אומות העולם. בשונה מכל חינוך אחר שמתקבל בטבעיות כחכמת חיים מועילה, החינוך הישראלי-מקורי מתייצב נגד הטבע האגואיסטי של האדם והחברה. כדי להפנים אותו נדרשת עבודה בלתי פוסקת, מרגע שהאדם נולד ועד אחרון ימיו. הרי זה לא טבעי להתנהג לפי קוד של "אל תעשה לחברך מה ששנוא עליך", או "ואהבת לרעך כמוך". לא טבעי להיות "כל ישראל חברים", "ערבים זה לזה", לחשוב על כולם כמו על עצמך. האגו של האדם כל הזמן מתעצם, ועליו לחנך את עצמו ללא הפסק, בהתאם. להתחדש, להתקדם. אחרי החורבן עקב שנאת חינם יצאנו לגלות ארוכה בין אומות העולם. איפה שלא היינו, נאבקנו על האפשרות להמשיך לפחות במשהו את הקו החינוכי. בלעדיו, היינו פשוט נעלמים. החינוך החזיק אותנו, חיזק אותנו, סידר אותנו, נתן לנו אפשרות להשתייך לאותה אומה גם בלי מדינה, חבל ארץ משותף, ארגון כלשהו. הורים נמדדו לפי השקעתם בחינוך, והיו צריכים להיות מחנכים בעצמם. רמת ההצלחה החינוכית של משפחה הגדירה את מעמדה בחברה. היום, כשהעולם נעשה מקושר כמו כפר קטן, כשכולם תלויים בכולם ומשפיעים על כולם, הגענו למצב נפיץ כמו שהיה בבבל העתיקה. או שתפרוץ מלחמת עולם, או שנקדים לה מהפכה חינוכית-תרבותית שתביא לחיבור ולהשלמה בין אדם לאדם. התהליך הזה יכול להתחיל רק כאן, בעם שנבנה ביסודו על החינוך של אברהם. אמנם כבר דורות אנחנו מנותקים ממנו, ולכן ישראל לא מהווה דוגמה לחיים באהבה, כואב הלב לראות איך הפילוג גובר ומתלבה השנאה, ואף על פי כן, יש בידינו להתחבר לחכמת ישראל המקורית ולהדליק אור בחשכה. להוליד יחד אדם חדש, אנושות חדשה. נשים בצד את הוויכוחים בין דתיים וחילוניים, ונחזור כולנו להיות מקוריים. 'יהודי' זה מלשון ייחוד, איחוד, אחדות מעל השוני, ו'ישראל' זו קריאת כיוון: ישר אל כוח האהבה והנתינה שביסוד הבריאה. האדם השלם, כל רגע בקיומו מוקדש לבדיקה איך יוכל לממש את עצמו באהבה לזולת. לדומם, לצומח, לחי, לאדם, לאנושות, לכוח הטבע הכללי. אהבה לכול, אהבת עולם. זוהי מטרת החינוך המקורי של העם. ונקודה אחרונה, הכי חשובה: חינוך הוא בדוגמה, חינוך זו בניית אווירה. מרגע שתינוק נולד הוא צריך להרגיש שהאוויר מלא ברצון ובמחשבה שמכוונים לאהבה. שכולם סביבו פועלים מתוך דאגה לזולת. מכל מבט ומכל תנועה הוא לומד, סופג את הרוח והכוונה. אמנם מבפנים יצמח בו הכוח האגואיסטי, אבל ההשפעה החינוכית-תרבותית תראה לו איך להשתמש בו לטובת החברה. כך, יחד, נעלה את עצמנו לדרגת הכוח העליון שבטבע, שכל כולו אהבה. המילה "אדם", מלשון "אֶדַּמֶּה לְעֶלְיוֹן", בדיוק על זה מצביעה. שיהיה לנו בהצלחה.
