I used to live in Rolleston on Dove but then moved to Abbey Hulton in Stoke. The canals were my greatest sorse of transport as a boy on my bicycle because there were no hills so I was able to visit all my mates quite easily from Uttoxeter to Tutbury was a bit ify but evan as a 14 year old it was a beautiful part of Staffordshire
Very Informative, I walk the Cauldon Canal on a regular basis… Unfortunately it is now becoming very unkept … Parts of the tow path are very overgrown and there is even a sunken barge by the Pottery Cottage and the cut is very shallow a warning for any would be traveller heading to Froghall.
The idea of putting water in for canoeist to use is great pretty sure most canoeist would probably pay a couple of quid towards whatever you might like to use it for for the restoration of the canal
Of all the trees that have been cut down in the restoration of the canal system how much of it has been able to be reused I mean cutting into planks to make some of the wood features of the Canal benches styles
