I'm back! I had to take 6 weeks off due to personal issues but I should be back to regular content now!
And what better to way to start 2022 in February with another installment in the iWish series, a series in which I take a look at various things sold on WISH to see if they are any good, most of the time - pretty much all the time it has been garbage but you never know!
Now if you have arrived here because you were looking to buy one of these, please don't waste your money on one. Yeah this has dedicated controls but just buy a Bluetooth Controller for your phone and use that for emulation. Your phone will beat this in every department.
This wasn't bought directly from Wish but is sold primarily on Wish, AliExpress etc. Is this $50 Mutated PS Vita thing worth it? Can it emulate games in a reasonable manner? Well... sit back and relax, grab a snack and watch as I take a look at the NINTONY SWITA...or the SOTENDO VITCH....or something. Whatever works :)

Btw it is a powkiddy. They do loads of these i got the psp one runs gba and nes or famicom quite well. For 30 euros it was perfect for on the go.

The reason some of the games were playing faster is likely a mismatch between NYSC and PAL regions, as PAL is at 50 hz and NTSC is at 60

I have device like this, which widely sold in the Asian online market. 46:10 my device has no camera and no hidden Micro SD card. the system is embedded inside internal memory. GBA/NES/SNES/MegaDrive ROM files are playable, but MAME games unsupported.

Which isn't always a bad thing. At the top end of these "cheaper" devices you can get some great products. I have an rg351 with amazing build quality, decent screen, and the specs and software to play all 8bit and 16bit consoles perfectly (actually perfectly), all 8bit and 16bit home computers perfectly, and play every PS1 games perfectly, and plays some N64 games. It uses an old RK3366 chipset that was terrible in phones when released in 2017 but does a good job for this task. There is also the RG350, and that uses the even older chipset JZ4770 from 2012 or something, it isn't far off the above but PS1 will be hit and miss and nothing above. But you do pay more, I paid £100 for the rg351 for example.

Looking through those files, it seems like it'd be possible to play around with this device quite a bit, as other comments have mentioned. Looks to be ARM Linux. It's a shame about the performance and control map issues, as it looks far from the worst of these cheap handhelds floating around.

Thought I would point this out even though it really doesn't matter now. In doom gba you hold L and R and hit up or down to swap weapons. You said in the video that L and R are mapped to X and Y so just hold X and Y hit up or down and bam problem somewhat solved. The only way this won't work is if you can't press more than one button at once. I know that some of these bootleg systems won't let you press more than one button at a time.

Since it boots from an SD card, can you put a linux os on a micro sd card and insert it in that inside slot and change the device to a linux device? Or how about an android OS?

I have the same device. My interface is different and I don't have an SD card. Games are preloaded and work pretty well. I think since you bought this on FB marketplace, I think the previous owner may have tried to add, fix, or take away something and messed up some settings. It's still a horrible game system but I love playing Contra on it.

There's no telling who the manufacturer is with all the knockoffs of knockoffs they have. Not only that, but many of these units are created by a small team of people - sometimes as a side hustle at plants that make 'legit' electronic goods. I knew some people who were such a group that developed dev kits for GB, etc and consumer electronics at other times.

The game with the pig-man holding a rake is clearly based on the 16th Century, Chinese novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en. All of the selectable characters in the game are very recognisable as characters from Journey to the West. The guy you chose is called Zhu Bajie (AKA: Pigsy) and in the story, he does indeed wield a nine-toothed rake as his main weapon. Fun fact: Journey to the West has inspired and influenced a lot of modern, Eastern media. Most notably, Dragon Ball and its sequels. Goku, Krillin, Yamcha, Bulma and Oolong are all based on characters from the novel. Unsurprisingly, Oolong is based on Zhu Bajie.

My wife got one very similar (X7) as a 'free gift' for ordering something on Temu. Major differences: - Red/Blue are swapped left to right. - There is a camera hole, which is filled with foam and no camera (but there is a camera icon in the menu for it) - No internal microSD card, this actually had onboard memory! (still slow as sh-t though) - 800mAh battery - 'OS' was very different. Icons, design, games that were on the 'home page', all different. - 3 Chips on the board: 'CPU' ATJ2259C / ZD54ABB / C8C 'Storage' 29F64G08CBAAA' '???' ESMT M12L128168A / AZN1P4747 / 6T / 1424 As there didn't seem to be a way of flashing this and there was no internal microSD card to remove, it's going in the bin. How this can fail at running Super Mario Bros 1, but seems to run Contra perfectly, just blows my mind.

The use of .mp5 extension is purely marketing-related, and other video/audio compression codecs can be used for MP5 files. That being said it’s mostly a Chinese regional format and not utilized as much in other countries.

The hidden games should be in the files. Also if it has a phone dialer or something you can get into a secret mode. There is a secret mode on this one, don’t know how. Ethier secret mode is the games or it’s a secret ui or smth

There used to be a better version of these before the switch came out, it ran android and could emulate up to PS1 games, maybe even some PSP ones. I haven’t seen them very often anymore though.

I got exact same device for my 5yo and it have all emulators preinstalled. I dont know why you did not show that or just did not know how to open it. On main menu it just show a couple but after opening dir list it is about 1000games on it

this type of device must use an operating system based on the RT-OS family... as it is lightweight, customizable and capable of running on low-cost mediatek chipsets, it was widely used in Welcome phones, MPx players before Android, the system was modified to imitate interfaces like: Windows Mobile, Nokia S40 and S60, Motorola, etc... but the functionality was terrible, unable to run common JME apps at the time, but some were capable of running NES games.

in options of the game you can change the mapping , you have to hold "Y" to change the button and hold "Y" again to confirm
