In Austria 🇦🇹 we had the Draken too. I saw it very often flying by. It was such a beautiful Jet. We still have one near the entrance of our Kaserne near Linz in Upperaustria. The Kaserne is close the village of Hörsching. Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹🏔⛷🛶🌞🍺🥨😎👍🐺 Europa!
Hi Ian, This air craft I was working with at 1965 to 1966, working with a team who was doing air craft inspection on 35 Draken learned everything about the air craft back then , missed that time . Now here in USA I like the T-45 Goshawk they using on the air craft carrier just love it.
Right.. you can make a thriller about some super-secret advanced stealth fighter and put one of those and the vast majority of viewers would totally buy it
My number one favourite jet ever! Sad that cannot watch them practice anymore where i live, it was common routine here that they did fly every year couple of weeks at times, couple times per year night and day, with MIG21's and Hawk's. Until they was ditched.. But great to see them still going here and there now and then, i saw last time one in Finland's 100 anniversary show. Oh god those memories, last time before that was about 20 years a go.. Only saw one that is now a statue close to one airport after 2000's. But yeah, wonderful video. Thanks!
@@mobsa16 In Finland, Tampere city. Close to Pirkkala- airport. There is a military training space. They have been having open door days one time per year, and the Draken is on a stand there side of the road, close to parking area. They also have there Draken's for practise and training purposes, assembly, testing etc. I think there is also one that is still in that condition that you could fly it, but they dont use it for that.
Incredible aircraft for its time. I think it was doing cobras well before Pugachev could claim to be first, but it was something the Swedes did not wish to shout about.
What a magnificent fighter the mighty Draken is, so advanced for its time yet still almost 70 years later looks futuristic. The Draken and Lightning were for me the two fighters of that generation.
I’ve seen this very bird perform on numerous occasions over the years, but this is the first onboard video I’ve seen. It’s everything I imagined and more, simply spectacular 🙂 👌 🤝
Remember these from our summer house i northern Dalsland. F7 still fly over there. After Draken came Viggen and then Gripen. My introduction into plastic model kits was a Draken.
I visited my uncle near Luleå in northern Sweden years ago, and his son, who was in the Swedish Air Force, flew a Drake over us, dipping his wings. It is very interesting to get a better look at the Drake up close!
Nice.
Fantastisk video.... Hälsningar från en utvandrad Östersundare i Glasgow....
Lot's of "wow" in this video. The rotating camera increasing the feeling of presence and the fact all this are flown using an old beautiful Draken in perfects shape creates an extra layer of fascination. Its almost... I mean... it IS poetical and emotional with this flying with the sun lit cloud layer as beautiful reference.
Nicely captured flight. Curious about the start. All I saw was electrical power connected to aircraft but when it spooled up it sounded like an 'air' start, that is forced air turning over the engine vs an electric starter motor?
