Hi to anyone listening/viewing this. If you're here, you are a fan and this is a historically significant because jd only used drums from time to time while Keith was in the band. Also, Steve DiMartino added without taking away. Bonus fact, I remember Keith telling me at Buddy's in Knoxville that he and Mike Gregory were living together in Lexington.

This MAY BE THE BEST JD CROWE RECORDING that Ive ever heard - with a GREAT Whitley performance as well an excellent JDC artistry.

So glad I came across these recordings. Exactly the reason why I love bluegrass music. Great band and what a voice Keith had. pairs well with JD’s 5 string. RIP boys

If this is a soundboard rip, it’s one of the coolest I’ve ever come across. Keith and Crowe with drums. Bluegrass revolution vibes but almost better - a fantasy band. Thank you so much for putting this up. Goodnight myrtle, wherever you are!

Great live recording and momentous due to the recent passing of JD Crowe. I always liked Keith Whitley’s voice and he tragically died way too young. The group’s drums used in this performance , while not an enhancement to the pure bluegrass sound , just like electrified instruments , for me does not detract from the great harmonies and overall enjoyment of the songs .

Awesome music. Never had the pleasure of seeing Keith, but he was a superstar waiting to happen! I had the good fortune of meeting Mr. Crowe & Bobby Sloane before the name change of the band. My wonderful friend, Larry Rice, was in the band, as well as Doyle Lawson. Larry was a great song writer, singer, & musician. Back in the day all up & coming mandolin players hoped to sound like Larry. He was a treasure, just as brother Tony was, along with Keith Whitley & J.D. Crowe. Perhaps they are doing some picking now...

@@garyjohn1754 Yea JD is a great man who's influence is still going strong today. If I'm not mistaken, he passed away a few years ago and I can't for the life of me remember why, he wasn't that old and was in great health as I recall. If I also recall correctly, he made a great living at what he did and probably had a huge estate to share with his children and grandkids in Lexington.
