I was so depressed two years ago and kept trying to get out of Mississippi while making close to nothing. Ended up passing some certifications, finishing college then moved out of my moms house. I kept listening to this whenever I would study or drive home working overnight at a data center. 40 miles there and back at 5am then would wake up at 2pm to repeat the cycle again. I make more money now and I’m healthier but I don’t think I would have done it without Dilla’s music.
the good news is that was probably the most difficult time in your life and you probably won't encounter anything as hard in that exact way in the future
My best friend just left to the Air Force. I miss her laugh n smile so much. But for some reason this song makes me feel her energy once again and I get a great joy. Thank You J. Dilla 🍩 RIP
Being a 20-somethings i tend to find myself questioning almost every decision I make, no matter how big, no matter how small. But everytime i come back to this beat, i feel like everything in the universe will be okay and whats meant to be will be. Legends truly never die. Long Live Jay Dee🤍🖤🤍

Lucas Brandão Yooo!!! This is one of my most favorite Dilla cuts!!! I remember the first time I ever heard this 20 years ago,I WAS AMAZED AND BLOWN AWAY!
My favorite JD instrumental of all time. So cosmic and heavenly. Everytime I hear this, I go some place far and peaceful. This is the time traveler's theme. . .
April 15th 2020 : I just came here to remember why i don't want to give up on that world of soul. We are not machines, we are light and love. I am Fabrice Dayan, words, light and love from Paris to the world.
the intro let's you know the ear of Dilla was like no other...i can hear all the chops...RIP J Dilla...thank you La Fuerza for always putting the sample in front....
In 2000, I originally bought Common’s “Like Water For Chocolate” LP solely for the song “The 6th Sense”. I was completely mesmerized when I heard the full album, specifically this song. I had never heard beats and flows like that before. Everything I listened to was very “linear” to a degree prior to this. Although I had heard Jay Dee beats on Tribe’s 4th and 5th album, he had advanced to another level by this point.
Matter of perspective, those of us that grew up in the Midwest that listened to the old J88 and old Jay Dee beats feel most of his newer stuff was cool but cant match the his older stuff.
i also personally listen a lot of his 1995-2001 stuff. he definitely has good stuff later in this life. the whole shining album has insane instrumentals. minus the first track of the album lol@@carmentoffee
Bro I’ve been rediscovering hiphop again since 2020 and it’s 2024 and all of a sudden I’m realising after MJ it’s dilla no one has impressed me this much in all my life time musically I can’t even find fault in his production and I’m a massive critic but I have nothing to add or subtract it’s perfect absolute masterpiece 👌 dude is cold 🥶🔴🔵 one of the coldest to ever do it 💯🔵🔴
This is my most favorite bit from Dilla and on any song. Period. I would say it perfectly describes the default vibe I be on. I first heard it on Like Water for Chocolate album by Common wgen it first came out. Nag Chamoa stayed on repeat.. And I been rocking with it ever since. RIP Dilla
Why can't get over Nag Champa, when is it going to get old for me??? I'm right bang smack in the middle of a pandemic and it's just after DOOM has passed😟RIP Villain... What am i doing? I'm listening to Nag Champa instrumentals, with verse that make Common Sense and with as well as without hook!!! Wow talk about timeless... OMG I've been playing it for over 12 years already. RIP 🐐 GOAT James!!!
More of a cigar guy but having a smoke watching the sun go down with that bluish sometimes purple sky with this playing in the background is blissful. This the perfect vibe.
Looking at this photo of Manhattan to this beat, I can't help but think about all the people just getting up out of bed, (or those going to sleep), the millions of people underground in the subways, a New Yorker getting into a yellow cab, or an every-day Manhattanite hustling down the street, and all of those people with the same thoughts about their next move, their next destination.
Nag champa is flower that is traditionally used as an offering for Indian Gods due to its ability to cleanse the home, purify the air of negative energies, and create an environment conducive to meditation and relaxation. Dilla was a Genius.
Dope Dilla face sticker on my back windshield rollin' around Detroit showing respect like I'm spose to. Dilla will always be Motown's finest! R.I.Beats.
anytime im having a difficult day i find some time and space, play this and let the tears stream. before the drums even drop things are looking brighter ❤
..the kinda song that puts you right in the zone... simply perfect... it's even better when you burn Nag Champa incense at the same time.. low dimmed red light, chillin' on the couch...that's my happy place ...
And I picked j dilla as a goat not because of who's better dilla understood and stand in music and was like humble in his path it's so hard to explain really it is
Coronavirus Playlist and to the memory of Ahmaud Arbery, Lil Richard, Andre Harrell, and Sis Betty Wright. May 2020 had been a very trying month as well as year. But The The Most High is my light and my SALVATION. Whom shall I fear?!? God bless
we'll make it through this bros... have faith in the Lord, and He shall guide us through these hard times of treachery and wickedness brought in form of illness.. god bless, and peace/love be with
Eyes Jaded Imma try my best to explain off the top of my head but it’s this concept of the drummer playing off time as if he was drunk so his hits sound very “loose” and not so stiff robotic. so it gives this groovy, swingy sound. it’s beautiful stuff, listen to some miles davis or coltrane as well as bill evans for great jazz swinging drums
@@Woter_X My take on this “swing” is like that of a pendulum...the swing of the kick drum comes back and forth...and you don’t EVER want it to stop! DOPE. Respect.
