I found this preformence about a month ago an I have played it a thousand times I sure am glad they got together. Before most of them.passed great band in heaven rip
Playing this video for just a little while all of a sudden makes everything in the world right again. Seeing Ronnie in prime form surrounded by sooo many legends. Jeff doing Down in the Alley.....wow. Since I lost my left arm in an MVA my life highlights will be forever poised on that stage with him in the 70s and the 90s. Ronnie was the best thing that ever influenced the Canadian Music Industry. I'll always love you Ron.
An Allstar Rock Band with a mix of young and old and they are magnificent!! The Hawk might have spent more money than he made but he had a hell of a lot of fun doing it and he was such a major influence on the music in Canada! What Jeff Healey could do with a guitar in his lap is legendary. He should be on everybody's list of the top guitar players of all time....full stop!!!!
RIP Buzz Thompson the HAWK playing beside Carl Perkins. Died Friday July 6th 2018 in Toronto Ontario. Born in Peterborough Ontario where he will always be the number one Soul Brother. You're sadly missed by all Mr. Soul.
Buzz Thompson the guitar player playing beside Carl Perkins was a legendary musician from Peterborough, Ontario Canada . Sadly Buzz or Mr.Soul as people around town called him passed away on Friday July 6th 2018 around 8:30 pm just in time to get ready for the gig with the big band in the sky. Rest in Peace Buzz you'll always be number One Soul Brother to me.
@@edhollingsworth2335 Yes Buzz Thompson was an outstanding individual and musician. I miss him daily. He passed too soon. May he be at Peace, Playing and Singing in Rest. Thank you for sharing your experience with him a high school! Did you go see him play with any of his bands he fronted or played with around the area over the year's? Or at any of the gigs he played at the school? ✌💞🎶🙏
Lordy, Lordy, the amount of talent and experience in this group makes my heart smile. These are the people who have accompanied me through my life.. God Bless them and may their Memory always sparkle like it does in this video. Rest In Heaven to most of them.🎼🎶🖤
Harold Kudlats from Hamilton Ontario booked "the Hawk" into bars on Yonge St. in Toronto with the Hawks. I was very young. . .l know Ronnie called Kudlats "the captain" Recently Ronnie sold his place near Peterborough. I went to a party at the Zoomerplex for his birthday. Hopefully he'll have many more. ANNETTE
the talent on that stage is staggering. we have lost most of them now but videos like this one brings them back anytime we want to take the time to listen.
Sad to hear about his passing earlier today. What a rock n roller Icon, and great Canadian contributor. I have lived in the Peterborough Ontario area and knew he lived close by. I was always hoping that I could have run into him just to say Hi, but never got the chance. RIP Mr. Hawkins.
Well, I have lived almost all my life in my great 50's music bubble. Been soo good to me. I for example love Elmore James. Nevertheless the slide at ca 7:23 is great, Jeff with the guitar on the lap... Yep, Jeff Healey. Died only 41 years old. Too bad. R.I.P.
If you'd like to feel like you toured with this bunch, read Levon Helm's autobiography, "Wheels On Fire", I think is the title. (It's been a few years. The title wasn't as memorable as the content.) I couldn't put it down. Make the most of every minute of your life! Most of these are gone now, and they did just that!
Not to worry my finnish buddy. Jerry LEE Lewis is VERY MUCH ALIVE and still playing with his boots on. Last week he gave a killer performance on Skyville live. RIP the comedian Jerry Lewis though.
Now that both Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis have passed on, it's so wonderful to see them both here with Ronnie hawkins. I have loved them and this music all my life.
They say when you lose one of your senses the others get a bit stronger to compensate for the 1 lost. I think the soul in Healey's fingers got the brunt of that energy. I'm a guitar player myself and my style is of Hendrix, SRV, Robin Trower, Frank Marino, Rory Gallegher, Gary Moore, but Jeff Healey is just on another level. If i could ever get to 2% of how he could play i'll be happy.
Crickey what a BAND!!!! No wonder Rompin' Ronnie sounds even better than ever! He's one of those performers who put everything he had into his shows- needed to see him live-
Yeah Baby , this is what music is all about just letting it out and oh my Lord If it was on a Sunday it would be as good as going to church, I have seen Ronnie and the Harks many times at the La Coc Door Tavern, yeah I know it was a strange name but the music was off the charts. God Bless you Ronnie you are the real deal, I am a proud Canadian, long live that Toronto sound
