I gotta admit that I’m getting tired of collabs but damn it is it awesome when we get one lol The thing is: my brain and body had very different thoughts again. The song is okay but I just don’t get it… like at all! How? Why? But it looks like they had fun making this and that’s just freaking cool to see 2 amazing artists from 2 different parts of the world coming together and create art!

Okay, so "Chicken noodle soup" is originally Webstar's and Young B's song, from 2006 i think. They invented the cns dance (hope is doing it at the beginning). Hobi sampled the "Let it rain and clear it out" and "Chicken noodle soup with the soda on the side". He's playing homage to the original song. He said that that was one of the first songs he danced to.

At the end of the day it’s just J-Hope paying homage to the people that inspired him to begin his journey. The songs original meaning “Chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side” refers to the old days of Harlem when it was stricken with poverty and chicken noodle soup was a cheap and easy meal in a time of economical crisis.

This song is one that J-Hopes says inspired his dancing back in 2006 when he was young. Watch the original video and you will see all the dancers like a step up movie. Homage was showed and I love it!

I understand what you are saying, some groups are doing collabs in the name of getting recognised across the pond. However BTS wasnt like that they got across in their own steam to start with and then did the collabs, but that in itself doesnt take away from the fact they still release their OWN music, OWN solo mixtapes & also do the collabs as well as the occassion covers of group songs.

@@chickenstrips4619 I get the feeling it was from a larger perspective, i am not eastern, sadly i was western and seen so much over the years the sceptic comes in sometimes and I find myself having to check myself and my attitude. As when i hear the word collab, my immediate thoughts are "someone else wanting 15 minutes of fame riding on the coat tails of a popular aritst" and thats just not only rude its wrong. Alot of these aritsts as you pointed out they wanted to or admire each others work etc. So i cant really scold her views as being western myself and seeing so much superficial crap on tv, I kind of understand where she comes from in some regards.

I just want to make it clear that never have I said that I was angered by collabs. On top of that i specifically said that i was not talking only about bts but kpop in general and most of the times , those groups do not have the freedom of choosing to do a collab or not. I understand that collabs bring more awareness/spotlight to the groups but collabs are being pushed here and there, a but too much in my opinion. it's like doing collab for the sake of doing collab you know what I mean? But then again it's my own opinion, I just wanted to make sure that my words were not misinterpreted.

J-Hope took some time from his long vacation to go to LA to make this video. Is a gift for himself and ARMY. This is a remake, this is the first song that made J-Hope interested in dancing. You should check the original song which came out in 2006. J-Hope payed a good amount of money for royalty fee to the original artists, and he made this song free for us, the listeners. I do get what you said about collabs. Sometimes I feel some collabs just don't work and too many collabs too. But J-Hope always wanted to collab with Becky G., since both of them have very special memories with this song, so they decided to make a collab, I think this was a special and successful collab.

Loved your reaction! Also I understand what you’re saying about collaborations but I respectfully disagree! I think this song definitely need a collaboration with a western artists because it’s inspired by an old hip pop by Webstar, Young B, and AR that talked about the struggles of Harlem and being who you are, it’s an old hip pop song with a lot of meaning. I think J-hope got inspired by the original and knew that he had to give dedication to the original by filming in America and with a western artist & a diverse group of ppl. It was great song that talks about struggles of african Americans and this gives homage to it. I also think that collaborations help k-pop get more exposure! Lol but I understand why you didn’t get it, the original was inspired by my culture and the lyrics “chicken noodle soup” come from that 😂❤️

I’m just glad that no matter the culture or language good music is good music and I’m happy that kpop is getting some international exposure it deserves so I don’t mind when kpop goes “ western “ it honestly doesn’t happen that often.

The video was both him and her paying homage to the original because this song is one of the first songs Hobi learned to dance to or wanted to dance to. The original talks about growing up in Harlem and their struggle and chicken noodle soup being a cheap easy meal. In this version both J-Hope and Becky G talk about their life growing up and how they got to where they are now. Hobi talks about his street dance crew and his version of Harlem. Becky talks about her upbringing and how people didn't think she could make it as a Latina rapper so it's paying homage to the original song while telling their stories at the same time.

Chicken Noodle Soup" is a song by producer Da Drizzle from Webstar's album Webstar Presents: Caught in the Web (2006). It features rappers Young B and the Voice of Harlem. The song also has an associated dance. NEW YORK EAST COAST STYLE J-HOPE version is with West Coast style in some place in California... you will see the iconic lowriders cars..

Diversity....That's the point. I'm from Brazil and not K-Pop fan.....But I know Becky-G and the original CNS.....But now I'm great J-HOPE fan because he did something amazing. if you can hold on for another year. I can tell you what is happening with BTS, they are helping not only the music community but South Korea with marketing SK to the world community. I always knew there was a North & South Korea and North was the Bad one but the reality was it was all blurred together and I didn't really care. We have a horrible president here in the United States. He promotes hate to keep his base activated. BTS has made me care. BTS has figured out a way to start friendships with people around the world through music. Latin Music has a big base but not many people outside of Latin countries listen to it. This collaboration between BeckyG & Jhope has opened so many doors. I can't even begin to tell you how many reactors said they didn't know who BeckyG even was and today I watched 2 reactors who didn't know who either of them were. People from all parts of the world becoming open minded or reacting to music (Chicken Noodle Soup) that is sung in Korean, Latin & English. This is huge for the world.

Out of kpop, Becky G is the only western/spanish singer I listen to and when I found out about this collab I was excited. I know other western singers but i dont listen to them.

I get what you are saying about collabs, I feel the same way. Like, I just want the groups to do their thing and not feel like they need to fit the American industry. But let's think that is beneficial for them. I was kinda scared of what they would come out with Becky G, as she is lately making reggeaton, and that's really not my jam. But I really loved this collab, it fitted both of them so well. Like J-Hope kills it 🤙🏼🤙🏼

I understand that you are tired of it. I can speak about BTS (because they are the only group I stan), they have been doing lots or collabs this year, but what i feel is special about them is that they chose to collab with those artists. They care about their music and make song with many genres so we, fans, can enjoy. I think the mistake people often do is to categorize everything a korean idol, artist, musician, etc does in music, with the kpop label, for example this song has jhope, a koren artists, but is hip hop. I think people should let the artist do what they want with their music, and If some people don't want a collab then they sould keep listening to the group "kpop" song they have.

I just took the opportunity to say that I am getting tired of collabs because we've been seeing a lot in the last years but my comments had nothing to do with this collab in particular.

When the first two minutes of a reaction video express negativity for the subject at hand, hmm. The song has yet to start and the mind is predisposed to dislike. In someone else's "reaction" to Somi's 'Birthday' the first two minutes were so full of disdain for the artist that it begged the question, Why make a reaction video? Because others are? I don't eat peas because others are nor do I feel a need to explain why I don't like peas. I'm not saying that all reactions should be positive but objectivity is a plus. At the least the song and video should have been experienced beforehand. Your already being tired of Kpop artists collaborations with western artists is interesting. I personally think western pop and hip hop artist collaborations are so tired that they smell of sales gimmick. But Kpop collaborations with western artists make me hopeful that fresh ears and minds might open here and maybe lead to more Kpop on my radio and in my stores.

GZBKarma I re-watched your entire video. Along with your ending comments I had noticed that you appear to enjoy the song, smiling and moving to the beat. I wondered how your thoughts before the M/V might affect your experience of the song. Perhaps I let that other person's video affect my reaction to your reaction. You are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mute none, so I apologize. The collab thing is an interesting topic. I'd like to hear more Kpop in the states but I wouldn't want it changed for a western palate. Thank you for your reply and invitation.

Thank you for rewatching the video Haha The comment I made at the beginning was just an anecdote and so I did not go into this thinking I would be annoyed watching the MV. it's just something that I wanted to share with my viewers. I try most of the time to be as unbiased and open minded as possible for every MV I react to otherwise, as you said earlier, why bother reacting.

CONFESSION TIME : ....I'm also tired of the collabs too, I liked this one with Hobi & Becky G but I think BTS is on a level that if they're going to to a big collaboration like please give me Ariana Grande or Drake, someone who they love, can match with them and are big as well & will help them too but don't give us collabs when they are the one who's giving the western artist the clout, like Monsta X and French Montana for example, or BTS with those 3 unnecesary BTS World soundtrack collabs.
