This is not just a collaboration but also a tribute by j-hope to his biggest inspiration J. Cole, that's why j-hope did 8 bars verse and Cole had 32 bars verse and j-hope dancing on Cole's verse was reminiscent of his early days when he was a street dancer, and he also learned rapping listening to jcole like he mentioned in Hiphop phile 'Hope world, before I made my own world there was Cole World...ever since he shone on Friday Night Light (j. Cole mixtape), I got inspiration to write my own lyrics'. This is a great collaboration between two great artists, this track also shows the growth of j-hope as an artist, from admiring and idolizing J. Cole to collaborating.
Yesssss it feels like j hope gave cole the longest part on the song as a nod of respect, he has said multiple times how cole inspires him (hence the name of his first solo project “hope world”) and its just so beautiful to see this collab, you should definitely check out his music and hopefully the other members of bts’s music too 😁
Definitely a nod of respect, hobi isn't about to limit what his biggest inspiration needs to do on their verse so, he opened up the floor for j-cole to do his thing. It's such a sweet collaboration.
This is kind of J Hope’s “bye for now” track before he starts his mandatory military service. I think that’s why he chose to give the floor to Cole, who has been one of his biggest heroes (he’s referenced him in his lyrics before), and to show himself street dancing, which is how he first got into Hip Hop as a kid, long before he started to rap and write. Ok lecture over 😉
as a hip-hop fan you have GOT to listen to j hope’s latest album “jack in the box”, it’s such a love letter to the genre like man does everything from old dirty bastard samples to horrorcore… sooo fucking good
I know the stereotypes about K-pop groups, but I do think people should give a chance and look deep into bts music, not only the singles. They always talked about how hiphop impacted their lives and their admiration towards these rappers. They also did a great job creating music about their backgrounds and the social struggles of the working class in Korea.
It's a very sentimental track for J-Hope and the fans. It is his "Goodbye for now" track, so his verse is to the fans and the kid may represent the fans as he says goodbye. It has a bittersweet and full of love and nostalgia in my opinion. Also J.Cole is J-Hope's idol who he mentioned in few songs in early years, he was inspired by J.Cole a lot and his Mixtape was Hope World as Cole World. I bet as you said J-Hope didn't try to flex and enjoyed this collaboration, let J.Cole be the main event while he provided his farewell to fans. catchy hook and dancing. In Korean culture the respect for elder people is also big thing, so I think J-Hope didn't try to make a "better" verse intentionally out of respect for older artist he respect so much. But these are just my thoughts. Overall the track is very cohesive and harmonious. Other BTS member Jin who already enlisted in military before J-Hope also made a "Goodbye for now" with his idol - Coldplay. It was very wholesome and cool collab too. In the music video there was a kid representing fans too
I know this is J.Cole heavy (which I love) but I think this was intentional. They never usually do this. But as it's a song being released just before his military enlistment it's more than likely a song that he won't get to perform. Dance was his first passion so I think the fact that he is doing that while his idol is rapping on his song, I can't even imagine how he was feeling. I do wish J hope had another verse on it but I'm not mad at it. I love the J cole harmonies at the end. Definitely check our J hopes solo stuff. Think it may surprise you. I think all three rappers may surprise you 💛
"scratching" has always been part of j-hope's style. From his first solo mixtape "Hope World" (take the song Baseline for instance), to his producing songs in BTS (disease) and to his solo album Jack in The Box.
I think Cole gave such a perfect verse to Jhope. I think some of the context you might be missing is J.Cole is Hobi’s rap idol. Before Hobi started rapping he learned from listening to Cole and has always shouted him out as one of his biggest influences (check out Hip Hop Phile by BTS and Born Singer by BTS). The two got to meet at lollapalooza and just before the announcement of this song Jhope confirmed he would begin his enlistment process. So before he went he wanted to do one last song and this is a true full circle moment to go back to his roots of dancing with j.Cole providing a perfectly worded verse that I think manages to capture the feel and message of what Hobi wants to leave everyone with.
The J Hope verse was definitely too short, I'm thinking it's because he definitely tried to give more room for J. Cole just to give him respect, cause he looks up to him a lot. J Hope's best work is Jack in the Box and I think for a hip-hop fan it's a must to listen to it.
Nope in hip-hop u give respect by trying to kill the ur collab or features. Just accept that jhope or any korean rappers will never be in that level when it comes to rap!
@@knives26 no need to hate man, ur talking about two different native tounges across the globe and yet they coalesce in the universal language of music.
j cole is j hopes inspiration this is his dream collab. j hope started as a street dancer and became a rapper after joining bts j cole is one of the reasons j hope raps. hope world meets cole world . please react to j hope solo music and bts music theyre not a pop group they started as hip hop group and just branched out to other genres but hip hop is their base genre.
this song is basically jhope going back to his roots which is street dancing thats why he was dancing when j.cole kept doing his thing also jhope is a big fan he basically manifested this also bts has a song called born singer sampled from born sinner what a full circle
"I got chills with this one, I know J-Hope is an already established artist but the way they portray the MV and build he verses, it's almost like a hungry youngling asking for his one shot and a tired king aware he can't sit on the throne forever. J-Hope is still on the street level/subway talking about what he's doing and what he needs to accomplish, while Cole stays solid on the top of the building, all alone and thinking about the path he's already taken. Then at the end, they meet, but as a fan giving his idol the flowers he deserves, not a rapper trying to steal the crown for himself." |This was so unexpected to me. Everything about it shows passion and craft. It's beautiful watching two worlds collide, and the one thing connecting them is hip-hop." --WaspParagon (Ye stan & Swiftie)
Definitely check out both more bts and jhope. Unlike the misconceptions, bts music is rap heavy, especially in their albums. Jhope, suga and RM are extremely skilled rappers in korean. You can find really good shit in bts music. Jhope has his own old school hiphop style... which expands his world of music. He is an insane performer too. Jhope writes music that sound good on stage.
J. Hope is a member of the Korean group BTS who are the biggest group in the world right now. He has 1 solo mixtape called Hope World from 2018 and 1 solo album Jack In the Box from 2022 and he headlined Lollapalooza last year. All 7 members of BTS will be enlisting in the Korean military because it's mandatory for all able bodied men so this will be J-Hope's last song before he enlists for 18 months.
You should check out J-Hope's latest album - Jack in the box. My favourit is Arson, however his earlier works are awesome too like Hope world, P.O.P. Also Idk if you checked RM. he released an album few months ago - Indigo. It is a masterpiece, you can check Wildflower first if you are interested. It's another BTS member, in case you don't know
Hope to see more of JHope reactions. You also could make a reaction to JHope full performance at Lollapalooza. It's 1h live rapping and he live is even better that on recording and we LOVE longer reaction videos so we would love to see it. And this Lollapalooza performance reactions don't get blocked, there are already a lot of reactions of this full performance because it was ICONIC. It was the first time ever he performed outside the band, alone, so he was super nervous but you really can't tell just by the performance. So if you don't mind making a longer reaction, please check it out, i'm sure you will love it.
You can see there are two Worlds 🌎 Jhope's World is heartfelt for Armys who love him and he trust 💜 that's Hope World 🌎 J.Cole's World is the coldest to fight against his competitors still now looking at the Top list to eat. That's Cole(cold) World 🌎
You should try SUGA(agust D) and rm's solo stuff too bts's Rap line is one of the strongest in kpop but gets overlooked Bcos of their English tracks like dynamite and butter etc
Honestly I think the MV has a meaning. J-hope started as hip hop dancer when he was a kid and he has been a fan of J Cole for years, so J-hope been in the subway (down) and J Cole on the top of the building may represents his life in the artist field, however in the end he gets on the top, respectfully, besides J Cole. Great song 💪
Please react to J-Hope’s new album “Hope on the Street”. He collaborated with J. Cole and this album has another version of “On the street”. It comes out on Friday, March 29th 💜
heyyy, please react to the new album that kali uchis dropped today, there is a collab with don toliver and it is very good!. also reacts to caroline polachek's new album plsss I really love your videos, sending love to u and ur wife from Mexico! xoxox
This is gentle introduction to J Hope. J Cole has always been J Hope Muse. So J Hope went back to his roots as street dancer dancing and listening to J Cole. Out of huge respect he gave J Cole the most bars on his song while he danced. J Hope can spit bars when required this is the gentle side of J Hope.
J-Hope started dancing at the age of 10 and became a street dancer. He danced to the early hip hop greats such as Wu Tang Clan who he pays tribute to in the song "What If" from his album " Jack in the Box". J-Hope lists Wu Tang members such as Ol' Dirty Bastard as co writers on that song because he sampled "Shimmy Shimmy Ya". "On the Street" is about both J-hope and J Cole's careers. J-Hope gave this song as a farewell gift to the BTS Army. He has idolized J-Cole for years. He will enlist soon to serve his mandatory military service for about 18 months. He is the second of the BTS members to go. Their plan is to reunite sometime in 2025. Right now, they are all working on solo projects. J-Hope's performance last August at the famous Lollapalooza Music Festival was record setting and historic. I may never get over it. If you react to it, please listen to his album first. He requests that the songs from his album be listened to in order because they tell his story. Also, if you react to his album or Lollapalooza, please remember that BTS Army will be right along with you no matter how long the reaction is. You are in for a treat!!! Thank you for your reaction! 💜
Jcole is jhopes muse, jhope got to meet him at lollapalooza and was very excited, jhope started dancing at a young age, he used to dance to jcoles song and now he got to dance to jcoles verse in his own song, jhope said he was so excited to work with someone he looked up to, jhope said that when he went back to Korea to do the mixing, he was so excited so he sent jcole a message saying it was really an honor to work with him. Jhope gave jcole the biggest part in this song as a sign of respect. Jhope also made this song to say farewell to his fans because he’s enlisting in the military in a few months. This is like a present to the fans
You nailed it basically it's a fun song, fun instrumental and chorus and coles verse is very good for the song. J hope gets his song w his major inspiration and we get a fun cole+BTS collaboration
Hope grew up on Coles mixtapes. He always made references to FNL and Cole World in his music. Hence he called his first solo mixtape Hope World. Theres a video where he meets Cole and is super starstruck. This is basically his dream come true.
Cole kinda hinting that The Fall Off will be his last album. So the verses make sense in that regard of letting things go. Jhope will also be taking 1.5 years time off to serve in Korean military very soon. Just to add, Jhope explained in his live that when he worked on this song last Oct/Nov, he has Jcole solely in his thought.. so its kinda natural for him taking the backseat on this one and just let his idol gone off.. All in all, it's bittersweet for us.. we still can't believe Jhope will be going soon.. 🥺🥺
There are 3 rappers in BTS RM, Suga, and Jhope. All 3 are amazing. I recommend checking out their prior mix tapes and albums. Both RM and Jhope just released albums last year. This last song jhope released as a goodbye before he does his mandatory military service. They won't be back as a group until the end of 2025, after all go in the military and finish.
JHope always make us smile, hi's a sunshine, an amazing guy. This song is bittersweet, cause is his last for some time. Maybe is hard to understand for outsiders, but like ARMY we are used to having constant communication with the BTS members, they do Lives very often to talk with us, they actualice on their social networks practically every day, respond messages for fans, and there is constantly new content. From watching them play games, traveling, dining together, sometimes we know what they had for breakfast and what time they fell asleep. They are very attentive and considerate whith their fans. It’s a mutual relationship. Especially JHope, he’s constantly in touch, he used to do Lives dancing free Style, and called them "Jhope on the street". Many times with Cole’s music in the background. So for me, as a fan, my main focus on the MV is JHope dancing on the subway, and Cole’s verse is the perfect background music. His beginnings were as a street dancer. And now is a grate rapper and producer too. I hope you react to more JHope 💜
My first thought to Cole’s Golden Corral bar was that rather than ranking or listing who the best is, he appreciates them all the same. Just like a buffet where your not forced to choose off a given menu but it’s “all you can eat” and take in whatever you like…. Or I could be dead wrong 😅
you definitely need to react to 'hip hop phile' by bts and see how much shout outs bts did to legends of hip hop!! also 'born singer' written by bts' rap line to the instrumental of j.cole 'born sinner'
Mann Coles not retiring yet guys. Idk why everyone talks about The Fall Off when we still got a whole project before The Fall Off.. did noone catch the child line cole dropped. He still has to drop "It's A Boy: he confirmed its a project like 2 years ago. @Jon Denton he ain't saying goodbye yet. Excited for the Fall Off but we still have a full project called Its A Boy left. I have a theory it's a big collab album. Two artist come together to give birth to something. Or a personal album showing growth and pain/struggles from baby/child to teen to adult to superstar adult. I feel this is our what that album name can give us.
I think you would love XG it’s a global group they are from Japan living in Korea their songs are in english (tippy toes, mascara, shooting star and left right) … they posted a cypher you should definitely check that one out as well (lyrics are in eng/jp/kr)🥰
It's weird how some people who know nothing about BTS are most queerly obsessed with whether the western artists "dominates" or "owns" their collabs. (Yes, the word 'queer' is appropriate if you think about it.) It's amazing how some non-creative people love to do mental gymnastics to fantasize that the artist who composes, produces, and posts a song will somehow "get the upper hand." That's not how the music business works, bruv! J-Hope is capable of dominating when he wants. This song is exactly the way J-Hope intended because it was about working with, and giving tribute to, his personal hero.
Jack in the box is a must listen - What If, Arson, safety zone, Pandora’s box to name a few. I adore the rhythms of Korean rap (just make sure you’ve got the subtitles on for full meaning cause it’s DEEP)
you did J-hope! been following you for a while (actually since the first lana reaction!) so glad to see you liked this! definitely check out his Jack In The Box. will be back for the new lana album drop too :)
You hear scratching in j-hope's music. haha. It's kind of a running joke that, if you hear scratches in a BTS song, that probably means j-hope was the primary writer/producer on that one. haha. And it's all over his solo projects too. Also, you asked if j-hope's always like this (in this style) and the answer is no. It's weird, he has a very distinct and identifiable brand but his signature is versatility. Like he just always comes onto a track sideways and you never know what you're going to get. Sometimes even within one song you'll think you're listening to a track with 4 artists and it's just him. He sings too so he's great with melody and has a pretty falsetto and a strong belt and a rich vibrato...he's old school but he's also the most trendy-sounding of the three BTS rappers (I just mean he's the most likely to do a Mygos type feel). But then he's also the most likely to do a Wu-Tang feel, too. And he's an incredible dancer (like he won a national championship in hip hop dance) so he's really great with finding rhythms that just hit really right. He's known for his ability to always be very satisfyingly in the pocket. Anyway, this song was so personal for him and really meant to be an homage to his roots so it's great introduction in that sense but as far as giving you a good picture of his style, you'll have to dig a lot deeper before you really get a picture of that. He's so well rounded and multi-faceted.
J.cole.Legend × J. hope RESPECT/CRAZY~~!!!!!!
