love this! only missed one highlight.. him running to block for corum in big ten championship was special. hes got so much talent but his leadership will carry him and this team to some major wins. he runs full speed to celebrate with his guys. love it
@@seekthelighttruth3207 true but one thing that's good about McCarthy is that when he's out there they can score a lot faster and more often (statistically), so that lets the defence play more aggressively. You also need a top tier athlete at QB like OSU, Georgia, Alabama, USC, Clemson, etc have if you want to compete for the championship. A mediocre athlete like Cade doesn't cut it at that level, no matter how good his decisions are.
I’m a Buckeye fan, but I want to say I truly believe JJ McCarthy is the future of the Wolverines. Dude had a good freshman year as a clear dual threat. Got a great future ahead of him. 👌
The guy is not even considered a dual threat. I think what you see with him is he just has it. You see plays where a normal guy gets tackled and he somehow escapes.
If we start JJ this season, you can expect Cade to transfer. I actually think that's how this plays out. I really like Cade but JJ is the man...no doubt about it.
If Cade is backup, he should just ride out the season since he can't play anywhere else at that point. He would get immediate eligibility next season as a grad transfer. If he stays, he has the potential to still lead this team to a championship if something were to happen to JJ. McCarthy's plays are electric but they also open him up to more hits.
@@chicagoPTer Harbaugh knows what he is doing. He said he's going to give each one of them a game and then decide from there. I've watched both and although McNamara can improve from last year, you're a better team with a more talented and well rounded QB in Mccarthy. McNamara will hang around until the season is over then transfer. IMO, JJ wins this.
If Michigan wants to take the next step JJ must be the qb. He is more of a dynamic type of qb and he could be a different maker on the football field. Cade is limited to what he can do on the football field. If JJ is the starter this offense will be very exposive if he is given the green light. When playing against other big-time schools Michigan must be able to throw the ball even if they have to throw it 40 times to win. Georgia new that Michigan would not throw no more than 15 or 20 times in the game. If Michigan wants to beat the elite teams you have to have a stout defensive line and a killer secondary and a explosive offense to win it all.
@@scottpayer7543 'the other one runs around like Shoelaces and causes turnovers and penalties on his own team....'. A JJ slam of course. Complete bullshit. Not reality-based. Cade has been an average QB. With the help of many the Wolverines got to play Georgia. Cade's offense scored 3 points. There were turnovers. JJ though imperfect brought life to the offense. JJ thru 2021 with limited snaps showed his superior talent running and throwing....and escaping pass rush pressure. Is that what you refer to as JJ's 'running around'. Or is it the planned runs called for JJ that were never called for Cade. I watched every game last year. No planned Cade runs. It should be JJ's offense this year.
@@scottpayer7543 Internet sources show that Cade had 6 interceptions in 2021. JJ had 2. Haven't been able to locate fumble stats. Perhaps you can provide that specific information. JJ had planned runs. Cade had none. JJ's rush yards far exceed Cade's which were from eluding pressure. A very small number. Cade contributes nothing with his legs. JJ has the stronger arm and it was obvious on the field. JJ consistently is able to elude pressure. Cade takes the sack or throws it away. JJ may make a mistake occasionally but he brings much more to the offense. Cade also makes mistakes, misses reads, doesn't see open receivers, gets balls batted down, etc. I appreciate that Cade gave what he could. The future is with JJ.
@@scottpayer7543 This video shows a little of what we will get from JJ next year. Excited to see what the offense can and will do with JJ on the field much more. Hoping for at least 2 years from him before he considers the NFL. Also hoping the follow up to JJ will be a QB with similar skills....strong and accurate arm and can run. Dual threat which Cade isn't. Perhaps Alex O or someone not signed yet. And one more thing....you can't get over the MSU game can you? There was a lot more to last season than that one game that the defense let slip away. JJ isn't the reason a 30-14 lead was squandered. And there was a reason why Harbaugh gave JJ meaningful snaps during the year and replaced Cade with JJ in the second half of the Georgia game. Harbaugh said it was because JJ could better handle the pressure.
I really liked Cade, he's a very good QB. But what he displayed in the playoff kinda puts his talent in question. JJ came in and the offense was a bit more productive. It's hard to think to bench a qb that's took his team to the playoffs, but it's even harder to think to start him knowing the capabilities JJ brings.
his talent was in question well before the playoffs. Also it’s not hard to bench him if you accurately assess who took our team to the playoffs. That would be hutch, Haskins, Ojabo, corum. Cade was on the bus, he didn’t drive anything.
@@bigag2182 ? Did you watch college football last year? Cade got 90 percent of playing time and won the big ten and beat Ohio St. Georgia was a better team and we looked worse in all positions when we played them. JJ was good but young. This year they will probably start by sharing time and as the season progresses he will get more.
I thought I would see the block JJ made on two Iowa players on Corum’s TD run. It was amazing how quickly he got out ahead of the running play. It should be included in JJ’s highlights.
Really hard to not get excited about next year when you have a legit 1st rd. talent at QB😁 Just wish we had a ton of game breaking Wideouts, RB's and a legit O-line... oh wait ✋️ We got all that🤣🤣🤣 Can't wait till September!!
It’ll be an even better year than last year I want to believe! If we lose any games they will be major unexpected upsets. Obviously the OSU game is up in the air now who knows what could happen for that game.
@@bigag2182 that’s true, to be honest next season could literally go in any direction, we have the talent to make the playoffs again, it’s very much up to our coaching if we get there or if they make our offense drown in awful play calling
For being a pretty small guy, JJ is very good at lowering his shoulder and initiating contact with defenders. If he can put on about 20 pounds of mostly muscle he could be the next Josh Allen. Someone who can throw the ball effectively and can also run over defenders when he has to
Anyone look at some of these passes and think, “Damn! Cade might not make that throw.” Not hating on Cade. They just have different talents. Exciting battle for those 2 coming up.
JJ starting QB in 2022 look what he did for us last year making passes Cade couldn’t & as a red shirt freshmen he had 12 TDS and accurate as well & can run when pressured he’s the whole packaged frfr!!! GO BLUE💙💛💙💛〽️〽️〽️🐐🐐〽️🔥🔥🔥〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️〽️
@@blankname6629 Yeah because it was against WMU against any power 5 team that would get intercepted lmao you dont throw across the field like that in a real game
@@MatthewHackett no it would not have been picked against any other team he hit his receiver in stride. It’s not a situation where the receiver had to slow down to catch it. It’s the opposite the receiver actually had to accelerate to catch the ball. Apparently you have never seen Aaron Rodgers John elway or Brett Favre play they make throws just like this against nfl defenses lol
@@nmatthew7469 Right. And some people are like ooo it was against the 2nd string defense. Idgaf who was playing on defense, he was threading needles and throwing lasers.
@@mattdrewdrums wasn't all second string, play it over with JJ slinging and running you all of a sudden have Georgia's big boys winded then the run game would have opened up a bit. That's what Saban did to them in the first game anyway. If Michigan doesn't air raid this season with the qbs and receivers we have this year Harbaugh needs to go. Even Lloyd Carr's daughter in law called him out. Don't go on the national stage and embarrass yourself, you come out slinging like Carr did at the 2008 Capital One bowl when we beat Tebow s gators
Cade is a legit QB who had more experience last year. He beat Ohio St and won the big ten. Georgia had a better team and won. You can't blame one player and say he's not legit.
As a 33 year old man who has been following Michigan since I could say the word football, I’ve never seen a qb come to the program with such accuracy, arm strength, running speed, and decision making as JJ. I love Cade but it’s now time to let JJ take the reigns bc I think he can bring a championship to this team.
For those who think Cade is the guy this year, are you willing to accept 12 to 15 more TD’s at the cost of 3 more picks if they start JJ this year? One more question, what if JJ’s floor isn’t much different than Cade’s floor, because we all know JJ’s ceiling is Mt Everest higher than Cade’s ceiling? The decision this year is a no brainer.
Right now Cade is the starter and he won't do anything to loose his job. I think the will have equal time in the start, but then JJ will gradually get more and more of that time.
@@timbrady1176 He is starting out as the starter and won't loose it in summer or spring. He also is the reason they were in the playoffs and Georgia was just the better team. Can't blame everything on one player.
@@babybird4255 but throwing really bad picks doesnt equate to him not having any blemishes to losing his job. And wrong it was the run game that got them to the playoffs the fuk?
@@timbrady1176 I never said the run game didn't. He had good throws in the regular season which were used so teams could get thrown off. He brought the team to winning the big ten, beating Ohio St, and a birth in the playoffs. We lost to a better team that won the Championship. Quit crying and blaming are first year starter that had a lot of accomplishments and a very good season. JJ will get more time this year because of his athletic ability. Everyone knows this, but Cade also had a very good year and will get some plays.
Cade is an excellent quarterback but it’s so clear that there are things on the field JJ does that Cade will never be able to do, kids a star in the making
JJ will take over this year. Cade is a good game manager no doubt but he isn't gonna win if 14 down in 4th quarter. 15 of 20 160 yard guy. JJ, will be a 350 pass, 100 run guy if given the team.
All Harbaugh had to do was let them throw the ball deep throughout the game. They kept smoking the Georgia DBs and Harbaugh didn't want to let go of the 1980s play calling untill it was too late. No way the game isn't closer if Harbaugh doesn't handcuff the OFFENSE with 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense the way he started the game. You can say Gattis calls the plays all we want but IF YOUR COACH GIVES YOU HIS OWN PLAYS TO CALL ITS NOT RUNNING YOUR OWN OFFENSE! Extremely frustrating as a Michigan fan
@@wonderboytroy7484 WRONG. That's where your OBJECTIVITY didn't come into play. You forget his philosophy was/is speed in space. I happen to know several people who have family members on the team. There was two instances that were very telling. The first before the season several players complained that Harbaugh came and started back implementing his offensive philosophy and it was an uproar for several weeks hence some of transfer's. 2nd during a little past the mid part of the season specifically Aiden and other members of the team went to Harbaugh and told him they wanted to be more aggressive on OFFENSE and DEFENSE. I heard Aiden say it out of his own mouth also. They were tired of his game planning and so that's why you see the last four game difference before the Big Ten championship game. In addition Joel Klatt as well as many other people brought up the fact that Josh was asked to take a lot of Harbaugh plays that he liked and use a modern look before the snap hit the same 1980s play. Lastly remember this vital thing if you're the OC of a team and call all the plays it doesn't matter IF THE COACH GIVES YOU HIS PLAYS TO CALL. SO ITS NOT YOUR PHILOSOPHY OF PLAY CALLING ITS THE COACH'S but you get the BLAME if it doesn't work. SO saying Josh called all the plays which he actually didn't anyway is utter nonsense because it's not factual. AGAIN just because you're calling plays doesn't mean you are called YOUR PLAYS. If you actually talked with some of the team they would tell you that Harbaugh at times would tell Josh he wanted a pass or run in certain situations which NEGATES what you might do or wanna do as the OC. 🤔🧐
@@Jam-City not being objective. I’m taking exactly what was stated by players and other coaches. He called the plays. Obviously his previous few seasons were showing his scheme was woefully unrealized and Harbaugh stepped in to implement more running concepts and more power spread into the scheme. Gattis added those pieces and 100% called the plays. Everyone said it. Harbaugh has never been a liar about the play calling. Before Gattis and even this upcoming season they have stated it is a committee. With Gattis he called the plays.
@@wonderboytroy7484 that's a total load of BS what you said. I know for fact you're WRONG. You totally missed what was said conceptually and feel the need to be right. Soon as i started reading it was obvious you're way off and don't know what you're talking about. Harbaugh's offense pass wise was centered and catered to tightends or short passes to WRs. Yes Gattis did mention the running more but I know he did that to "show" his support for Harbaugh interfering with the offense again. Gattis never EVER had full control of the offense. That's your problem you actually believe Gattis was doing more of his own philosophy first year to his last than he really was. 😂
Man, that UGA game…. The offense with JJ, is nice…. Cade won the B1G but he needs to stop with all the check downs and use his weapons…. Can’t wait for the season to start! Go Blue
That throw at 00:48 can only be made by one QB on the team. I'm not just talking about the arm strength, the accuracy too. JJ has the ability to throw his receivers open. If he starts, I think Michigan could come close to 300 yards passing and 200 yards rushing.
No matter how good Cade or JJ really are I still miss me some electrifying denard Robinson runs making the whole opponents defense whiff tackles left and right.
I'm guessing that Cade's interception with about a minute left on a drive that could have won the MSU game isn't included in Cade's highlight video either. Not faulting those who created the videos. They are highlights not lowlights.
That One Maryland player not wrapping up thinking a shoulder will do shit to a qb runnning full speed explains so much about Maryland football 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
@@gregthomas1323 ... it was a read/op Corum had the ball is his breadbasket. Thats his queue to take it. And Cade had an opportunity to win that game twice. What did he do? Overthrew a WIDE OPEN Sainristil the next drive. Then threw the game sealing pick the following drive.
The Qbs of Michigan who can run Chad Henne: Bart Starr 2.0 Denard Robinson: Michael Vick 2.0 Shea Patterson: Johnny Manziel 2.0 Joe Milton: Cam Newton 2.0 JJ McCarthy: Joe Burrow 2.0
Never thought I say this.... But thats an insult to Newton. He could at least play somewhat. Milton is trash, all arm no touch can't read a defense and soft.
Harbaugh is loyal to the game-manager style QB. I’m thankful to Cade for what he did for us in 2021 but we need to pick the guy who’s going to take us above and beyond
@@bcnicholas123 Obviously we know how it played out now with JJ being named the starter but don't forget that Harbaugh picked Colin Kaepernick over Alex Smith when he was with the 49ners. He isn't blind to talent. I think this "competition" was more about giving Cade respect while showing him and the rest of the team that JJ is the guy.
@@bigcgr9758 But at least he moved the ball against that all-world defense. Harbaugh made the wrong choice on who to start, as anyone with a pulse who watched UGA saw they struggled against mobile QB's all year. And he stuck with Cade too long.

jj would of put us alot closer in the uga game that was crazy for us not to put him in there after the half we might not of won but ill be damned if it wouldnt of been a hell of a lot closer....... we just came out flat flat
JJ a ? College QB. We don't know until he starts at UM full time. Let's see him under pressure a whole game and Cade not coming in. I don't know what kind QB he will be but I am hoping he starts full time this season because IF Cade splitting time with him either he not ready for prime time OR Jim not a good coach
It’s BEYOND me to why they didn’t put in JJ permanently in that Georgia game while Cade struggled badly and wasn’t able to do anything at all, where as every time JJ was on the field he picked up first downs and our only touchdown… it’s seems like Michigan is cursed with some coach that apparently wears a blindfold 24/7 to not see at that point the gap between JJ and Cade is extremely large… is it harbaugh? Probably. But maybe not idk
Dumb. If you want to play this game, if Cade is left in permanently against MSU, we win that game for the record as we're not turning it over deep in MSU territory with dagger in hand running option plays. Yes, JJ throws a TD in that game but Cade was having a field day against MSU's awful secondary so it's not like he wouldn't have thrown another one either. QB would have made no difference against UGA. Both lines were smoked. Maybe we score two touchdowns instead of one but that's about it. Best season of Michigan football in over 20 years and some of the best QB play in modern history (Cade is the first UM QB since Brady in 1999 to throw fewer than 7 INTs as a starter. Both had 6 and Cade had 30 more attempts than Brady) and we got people like this in the fanbase. I'm not saying Cade is better than JJ but I do think his floor is higher as of now and it's really really asinine to lament QB play and Jim Harbaugh this season of all seasons. The best QB will emerge on the practice field, the film/locker room and on Saturday's not just one and not in highlight tapes. Whoever it is, they will be really good and have a damn good backup.
@@hailhailtomichigan1918 Cade's floor may be higher (we don't know at this point) but his ceiling is much lower... meaning what we saw last year is likely what we will see this year....a game manager who doesn't run (designed plays) and is best at the 10 yards and under passes...as we saw in the spring game. Michigan's offense can do better. I believe it will do much better with JJ as QB1. We know he has superior talent....legs and arm. We saw it last year. JJ now has some experience. They will compete for the #1 spot. Hopefully Harbaugh will name as QB1 the person best able to get the most from the offense. And regarding the backup....we should not be surprised if the one chosen to be the backup chooses the portal. I don't think either will be content being a backup this year. We of course don't know what will happen. I hope Michigan doesn't lose the 5 star guy because Harbaugh prefers the game manager but if that happens and I'm JJ I would likely take my talent somewhere else. I hope Harbaugh will provide clarity to the players before game 1 arrives.
@@hailhailtomichigan1918 cade had a field day in the first half he barely moved the ball Second half and cade is the one who threw the pick to end the game when he had a WR open how is that JJ fault?
So Cade is named the starter. And can play next season also. Why wouldn't JJ transfer now? Harbaugh is making a mistake. JJ is clearly the best choice. You have a Ferrari sitting in the garage and you still want to drive the Pinto.
This "competition" was more about giving Cade respect, while also proving to Cade and the rest of the team that JJ is the guy. I can't imagine Harbaugh didn't see this coming.
...and now he can't complete a pass over ten yards, WTF? Jim has such little confidence in JJ's passing ability, UofM just ran on 3rd and nine against Illinois.
He's the man at qb that throw against Western Michigan he throws ball all the way across the field to find Baldwin your not supposed to do that but hey when your a gun slinger let it rip.
