Wow, 58 ran smoothly on the new track extension, and I must say, they really worked their butts off for this extension to happen to give 58 the chance to stretch her wheels, hats off to this place for respecting its heritage and preserving history, I can't wait to visit one day
I didn’t take part in the rebuilding process but I will promote the railroad any chance I get. Still more work to be done and I will help in any way I can!
Great work on the loco, however why does it sound like the exhaust beat is mistimed/ offbeat? still working things out with the valve gear or is it a characteristic of the loco?
RU-vid served me up one of your videos and have binged watched your catalogue. You’ve come a long way! Great achievements. Well done. Is it just me or does 58 seem to miss a beat? I get a 3 count?
We have dozens of ex industrial locomotives in the UK but I have never seen one like that before. What a remarkable looking engine. I am assuming that it worked in a steelworks or something similar. Love it!
I was given an update that the YSH will remain a point to point railroad for the time being. A loop has been discussed but no plans have been confirmed yet.
It’s probably the easiest thing to chase since they only have around 1000 feet of track. The volunteers and Mr Rowlands are nice people too. The eastern extension will also have some improvements made to it so you’ll be in for a treat!
@@ArturoRailProductions yeah I've been working with steam since the day I got kicked out of my mums womb. I'm surprised no-one else had commented on it, but then it was only a few degrees😄
@@73Datsun180B it was brought up quite a bit actually on the J&L Narrow Gauge channel and as of about 2 years ago the timing was actually corrected. If you look at some other videos more recently of it it sounds way better. Runs quite nicely too. Cheers!
@@ArturoRailProductions yes I fell in love with the "Rolling Ingot" and went on a video hunt and binge. If I ever get the chance to go to "merica" and visit all the great steam museums, I will definitely be going to have a play on No.58!
They have open houses throughout the summer. They sometimes announce when they run it on Facebook too. Which is how I found it would thanks to Stephen.
Engine 58 has a very unique exhaust note. At first it sounded a bit like a 3 cylinder, but listening carefully, the fourth note is there but softer. This could be a combination not the way the eccentrics are set on both sides, and the way the reverser is set. Looks like the little engine really wants to pull a load.
Please send an email to Rick Rowland’s of the Youngstown Steel Heritage Museum. I think your explanation is very plausible cause and good enough to be brought to his attention!
Looking at your land on Google Earth. I wish you could north north and run along the airport property or cross the street behind the shop toward the junk yard. Any possibility?
That’s something you’ll (or I) have to ask Rick about. I thought the same thing but the backhoe they have can only do so much in a certain amount of time. If funds were available that be a possibility. But for now we can’t really do much. Their main focus is getting the new engine house ready for 58.
they're still trying to fix it. Its going slowly but they're working on fixing it. Even though I'm pretty sure 99% of people won't even notice its off timed. I'm one of them
