Jean-Marie Leclair Flute Sonata in C major (Premier Livre de Sonatas, 1723) Adagio Corrente Gavotta Giga Barthold Kuijken, flute Wieland Kuijken, viola da gamba Robert Kohnen, harpsichord
Leclair's flute sonatas are one of the great treasures of the late Baroque period. I became familiar with them many years ago from an old French recording with Maxence Larrieu, Jean Lamy and Huguette Dreyfus, which I believe was first issued by the Valois label. I came to know them like the back of my hand, and my affection for them has never weakened. Thank you for posting some of these as individual sonatas. I can share them more easily with Facebook friends.
