Valene isn't happy eating dinner with her brother-in-law J.R Ewing. ************************************* Click Below to SUBSCRIBE for More DALLAS ru-vid.com... / @dallas70
I noticed that too. In the shadow of JR, they are once again the teenagers they were when they first met. JR still in control of their lives-and Lucy's.
Joan Van Ark was brilliant in this scene. The tension between Val and JR was very thick! The way Valene just sits there not saying a word until she erupts like a volcano! The chemistry between her and Larry Hagman, is amazing
You are so right. This was a brilliant scene filled with tension and angst. I wish she and larry Hagman could have worked together more. Brilliant actors. They just gave us a master class in acting.
@@DeepScreenAnalysisbut just imagine if he had more scenes than what he did it still would have been twice as better than it was jr an unlimited true villain.
They should have found a way to have him pop in on EVERY TV show of the period. Sitcom, drama, other network, whatever. He could have integrated the entire 80s. I would love to see banter between JR Ewing and HM Murdock.
I loved knots landing and dallas. 80s glitz and glamour had me hooked. Watching this takes me right back to my friday nights sitting in front of the tele watching this show when ny mum. Makes me feel happy inside.
Yeah I like when he would say something like "I'm Jr. Ewing ill do everything in my power to destroy you! As a kid I would laugh. Such a strong show of power.
JR Did this to show off in front of Gary. Shame him in a strange way. But unlike JR, Gary actually had friends that cared about and didn't care about his family's money .. except Abby of course.
Come on Sid? Like who is he? He didn't stand out because he was below average family man that's why he got cancelled. I'm not a hater but you must have like him for his looks. Knots landing wasn't a romance lol.
@@draperscott7698they both victims of each of the series finales that kept fans on edge until the season premiered Larry hagman got shot under odd circumstances and don driven off a cliff and met his demise.
I'm no fan of JR's character, but he had a point. What kind of life would Lucy have had being raised by parents who had to constantly leave to go "find themselves"? He went about it in a cruel way, but in the end, Lucy lived a life of luxury...spoiled by her grandparents for years as the only grandchild til John Ross came along.
@@airkuna thank you it's just the show. I don't think there's nothing wrong would getting into the show but when you can't separate that from real life something's wrong LOL..
Karen was always very intuitive about Val's feelings. Earlier when they were eating at the dinner table and JR was talking, Karen was looking at Val's face. She would later say that Val's emotions were written on her voice, people could see them from miles around (she said this during their kerfuffle after Laura's death when Val was angry that Karen did not tell her Laura was dying).
Not the first time that Larry and Donna played together in a tv series,in the early seventies they were in a sitcom called The Good Life it was short lived though.
Val's slow burn is something to behold. A decade later, if J.R. made even a quarter of those hints regarding Bobby and Betsy, she'd have decapitated him without blinking.
Better believe it. Remember how she went after Jill Bennet for just running into them in the library? Val was about to shishkabob her ass with those scissors!
JR doesn't fit in at knots landing no more than a ham hock at a bar mitzvah. His whole demeanor screams "OLD MONEY." 😂🤣 That entire knots landing scene is just too fresh & modern day. JR comes from old fashioned, yet southern sassy class.
This show is greatness! I can't believe I am a Dallas native and have yet to watch this legendary series. I've even been out to the house and the ranch itself...but have still yet to see it. That's pathetic. Kinda reminds me of the dramatic acting from the original Hawaii Five-O series, which is at the top of my all-time favorites list. Thanks for posting these. You have peaked my interest!
Tomas Garza Flores, I know this. I know she is the female JR of the show. I just meant it would have been awesome if Abby made some guest star appearances on Dallas not be a full-time character on the show at the end of the day.
I just love the sparkling dialogue in this scene. Late 70's and into the eighties---Dallas, Falcon Crest, Dynasty, Knott's Landing. There were some great nighttime soap operas on TV. The Golden Years of network television. Then they decided that these shows were too expensive to produce. And television began its descent into trashy "reality" programs that we have today.
Dynasty being the weakest since it relied too much on fantasy and camp instead of finding the emotional truth of a scene or story. Falcon Crest was the most level headed of the shows, reasonably reserved in the soapy tropes..
There are not that many reality shows. Survivor, The Bachelor/Bachelorette are game shows... American Idol is a talent show. Get Netflix and or Amazon and fix it.
@@damianlatimer5753 not in the early 80s they werent. That didnt officially happen until 1987 when Pam left on Dallas and Dynastys timeslot change in 1988. Knots held its own, it was only cancelled due to becoming very expensive to produce.
A few years later Valene would have reached for the first sharp object she could find when he started talking about running Lucy's life. Jill Bennet found that out the hard way. Don't mess with Val's kids!
I wish this showed the scene just seconds before. J.R. was trying to make a toast and was constantly interrupted by Abbey's children. He then said the Texas way of dealing with unruly children was to barbecue them. Larry Hagman had great comic timing and never left his comic roots fully behind. I liked how they sometimes used his J.R. character for funny moments rather than just always mean ones. No other character on either show was versatile enough to be used for drama and laughs.
JR never fit into KL well. I do believe he may have worked with scenes with Sumner which I'm surprised they didn't do. How cool would it have been to see The Sumner Group enter into a deal with Ewing Oil? Just like Denver Carrington did with Colby Enterprises on Dynasty
I wish Bobby was there. Bobby would have stopped JR for talking about Lucy and Mitch how he was going to bring them up to Ewing standards. Gary and Val would have rested easily.
2:50, JR just said that to irritate Valene, and it worked! Just sickening, the way Gary sat there and let JR insult his wife like that. Gary's cowardice was responsible for so much damage to pretty much the entire cul-de-sac!
Please I'm a ridiculous Dallas fan but never watched knots landing!! So seeing these crossover is amazing for me!! Any more please put up!! I seen a few with Jr but I'm sure there are more. Saw one clip of Lucy and one clip of bobby. But I know bobby has a few more cause he made 3 episodes. Jr did 4 and Lucy did 1...also Kristen Shepherd did a episode so would love to see that!! Obviously bringing back bobby with the dream solution killed anymore crossovers so these clips are like gold dust;!
Yes, they really were superior. Don't get me wrong, I loved Dynasty nonetheless. However, Knot's Landing and Dallas were more grounded in reality and character-driven stories while Dynasty employed plot-driven stories that were drenched in over the top camp and sensationalism.
@@derekmathews1818 Valene was too young and not ready for motherhood. Lucy needed a stable home life. Not defending J.R.'s ways and his manipulation of Valene & Lucy's relationship.
No, she didn't. She left Southfork with baby Lucy and J.R. sent "some ole boys" to take the baby right out of her arms. The Ewings were rich and powerful and she a teenage hick from the wrong side of the tracks -- she went to Texas to try to get Lucy back, but she found that the Ewings, J.R. in particular, controlled even the law and she had no claim to her child.
@@SirPumpkinSlice That's the problem. You assume that because the women in your life in 2019 have that strength, all women across all time have had that strength. You're wrong.
Did that directive come from Ellie or Jock? That seemed more like something Jock would have done. I think Ellie would have talked Val into staying at the ranch. Val was still a child herself plus Ellie's first and only daughter-in-law at the time. Val and Gary married in the 60's and I read somewhere that J.R. didn't marry Sue Ellen until 1970 or so.
Yes Abby and Gary are both trying to take Knots landing motors from Sid under his nose..Remember Abby carring that big Blue print holder..??..This is from 1980-81..XD
@Sebastian Sutton Yes I knew all that.I am sorry I did not know that was a separate storyline ..Well Karen did not like Abby Strongly..And Karen did not care about being rich either.xd .On a side note. You think that the show would had given Donna a girl that looked like Donna..Tonya Crowe looks Nothing like Donna Millis. XD
Damn! I know Gary and Valene and Karen hated JR! Karen with the insult there! JR insulted Valene and she went off on him. I guess maybe he was used to it.
The show lasted 14 seasons, one more than Dallas. CBS wasn't in the habit of keeping shows around that couldn't pay the bills. Knots was quite capable of standing on it's own two feet.
Larry made more guest appearances on KL than Patrick Duffy did which is in a way ironic considering how JR thought of his brother Gary and his wife Valene
Not true...I never watched knots but it went on to beat Dallas in the ratting in Dallas last few years., and lasted longer then Dallas. However during these early crossover Dallas was killing it in the ratings so they were happy to have Jr turn up. However right from The start knots landing always had a respectable ratings and was never flop. Jr did 4 episodes. Bobby 3, Lucy 1 and Kristin Shepherd 1...odd miss Ellie never did any!?....Bobby back from dead by the dream solution killed anymore crossovers. So maybe there would had been more.
Does anyone know what exactly what was going on here between Gary and Jr!? It seemed like Jr had something on Gary ? Something only Jr and Gary knew about. Notice how quiet Garry is. Plus when Jr confused Gary with bobby over a business deal? He obviously did that on purpose and Garry face when he did it says it all. It looks to me like maybe Jr has something on Gary about business and perhaps blackmail him? I never watch knots landing and this did not crossover to a Dallas storyline so can someone help me!?!?
Gary and Abby made a deal with some crooks to buy $50,000.00 worth of stolen auto parts for Knots Landing Motors behind Sid's back and Abby went to JR for the money which resulted in Sid getting killed.
Jr sitting there talking about Lucy in front of Valene and Gary is so disrespectful. Why did it take for Valene to say something? Gary couldn't stand up to his brother? Jr must have something on Gary cause I know no other man wuld put up with that. If it was Bobby Jr would have a black eye or he wouldve punched him in the face.
