Rebecca Leggett, Singer Alison Bury, Violin I Julia Bishop, Violin II Annette Isserlis, Viola Sebastian Comberti, Cello Cecelia Bruggemeyer, Double Bass Dick Earle, Oboe Nicholas Houghton, Organ Audio, visual and edit, Jeremy Leggett
My family chose this aria for my mother's funeral a few years ago - the Janet Baker recording - but I would have chosen this version if I could have!. Amazing music, beautiful, tender, serene singing and great players. Thank you Rebecca.
German with Bach, italian with Vivaldi or English with Purcell, you're singing everything like an angel ! What a bright presence. I wish you lot of success and sorry for my english
@@geraldmontague5391 Except that the last English is not capitalised. I can smell a Frenchie when I see one... just joking. But in francais (ced. missing) the English language is lower case. At least this is spelled correctly "you're singing" whereas 70% of Americans, uncouth and uneducated would get it wrong. Is there anyone else foreign whom I need to get stuck into ? TE. Fidler
Within two measures, Bach can summarize for us all the world's missed opportunities and unplumbed choices, history's profound regrets and horizon-wide gratitudes, the inevitabilities that seemed impossible and joy once thought improbable.
Since discovering this video a few weeks ago, I have listened to it every day at least once. In this troubled world, the peace that settles over me is so welcome. Thank you, Rebecca and others.
@@rebeccaleggettsinger I hope that the joy you are experiencing inspires you to more performances like this one. I, for one, would appreciate it. If you are ever performing in Canada, I would appreciate knowing where and when.
@@rebeccaleggettsinger Is the Annette Isserlis on Viola in any way related to the Great Stephen Isserlis who plays Cello ? It seems too great a coincidence to be random Never mind.. with a bit of research I answered meinen Frage**... it's Steven's sister. ** Most likely Dog German but wasssa I care ...

“Vergnügte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust” is amazing for me, who loves BWV170 the most among Bach's cantatas. Please record all the songs and release them as soon as possible!
Outstanding Rebecca, you have an amazing voice and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the entire performance, orchestra and soloist combined, thank you.
Vergnügte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust (Delightful rest, beloved pleasure of the soul) Dich kann man nicht bei Höllensünden (you cannot be found among the sins of hell) Wohl aber Himmelseintracht finden (but rather in the concord of heaven) Du stärkst allein die schwache Brust. (you alone strengthen the weak breast) Drum sollen lauter Tugendgaben (Therefore the pure gifts of virtue) In meinem Herzen Wohnung haben. (shall have their dwelling in my heart)
Excellent. I didn't know Rebecca, but among the players, I find some of the glorious names of early music in the 1980s, Bury, Isserrlis, Earle, Comberti, all fundamental artists for my training as a music lover.

@@rebeccaleggettsinger Hi! , don’t worry: your French is quite understandable and I can write in English. Thank you for your kind answer. Yes, you must absolutely record this cantata 🙂, so you would enrich the baroque repertoire. I’m sure the Cantor himself would be bewitched by your voice. Can you tell me if there are any recordings of you that I can get in France? Have a nice evening ! X
Want zingt hier GODDELIJK, hemels zo goed Philippe Herreweghe. De hele groep fantastisch . BRAVO.
