My grandfather passed a month before this brilliant concert was recorded. He used to be an organ restorateur, working for the company Kern in Strasbourg, France. He travelled all over the world - mostly in the 70s and 80s - to fix, install and build organs. Bach was his favourite. I take this as his eulogy. Farewell, I will forever miss you grandad. (1931-2020)
This is my favorite baroque piece , i havent listened to a better baroque piece yet. I have listened to it played on piano and harpsicord .This is the first time with organ and i think it is better with organ.
I play this video everyday when my daughter (nearly 4) takes her afternoon nap. I’d like to think this music makes her brain smarter. I must confess that I know this music from an Atari computer game from 1984 called Stealth. Like most of the kids of my generation, videogames and cartoons were our first real education in classical music. Hah. I must also confess that when I watch this video, my attention is drawn to the violinist with the glasses in the background to the organist’s left. She reminds me of my college sweetheart, who has been living in my head for entire adult life and who I love and miss dearly, even though I haven’t seen her since the time of the OJ Bronco Chase. Such thoughts are likely to end with doctors putting me on heavy medication and fitting me for a straight jacket. Oh, well. It is what it is. Anyway, great video, thanks for allowing these to appear on RU-vid Kids.
playing the same video over and over won't cause much neurogenesis, playing a different one everytime would have a better effect, repetition is (almost) always inferior to new experiences for this
As soon as I hear the first bars I feel : "B a c h !" as fluid in the back of my shoulders and down my back. Then it fleeds into my heart. What is it? W h a t is it? It is the expression of the spirit of life. Thank you God! Thank you that I am a human being and that you allow me to hear something like this! Thank you musicians for bringing this into my world!
When I read all the comments from all over the world sharing the same performances, ad see the orchestras which contain so may people of different nationalities it makes the musicalcommunity so heart warming, and the world seems more intimate. One is never alone, or lonely. To share this splendid performance of Bach D minor on the organ adds to joy of the experience
Mil gracias. Aplausos desde Querétaro (México). Juve Flores. Felicitaciones a quienes también la disfrutan.
@@radnoll Alright you two, if you're gonna post something on the Internet then talk American so everybody can know what you're talking instead of just one or two people in your little village in bumfuck foreign land talking a strange, foreign language. Thank you.
This performance represents everything that’s good about people, regardless of whatever country they come from. The collective effort behind this gathering of committed and talented human beings is wonderful to behold. And all brought together because of Bach.
@@jjaus Violence and terror are almost ubiquitous throughout the animal kingdom, and humans are, after all, just animals. The fact that humanity can't _instantaneously_ escape from this base condition, but must instead climb its way out _gradually_ over the course of millennia, is not evidence that our species is fundamentally corrupt in some special way. On the contrary, this lengthy and difficult process is to be expected, and that any kind of moral advancement has occurred _at all_ is remarkable in and of itself. It is irrational to judge the rate of human progress according to a fanciful standard of supernatural perfection.
@@historicwine1283 You are deluded. Humans have been around for more than 200,000 years in their current evolved condition. Just how many millennia do we need?
@@jjaus Homo sapiens appeared roughly 200,000 years ago, but did not evolve the capacity for language until 100,000 years ago at most (although 75,000 years is probably closer to the mark). This is crucial because language--specifically, _human_ language--is the necessary condition that makes any kind of intraspecific cultural progress possible at all. So one _partial_ answer to your reply (which, incidentally, is not at all in conflict with my initial point) is that it took language-capable humans between 88,000 and 38,000 years to develop agriculture _from nothing,_ and then another 12,000 years to get to where we are now. In evolutionary terms, less than the blink of an eye. How long will it take, from here on out, for the species to attain a _satisfactory_ degree of civility? Nobody knows the answer to that, not only because social systems are probably far too complex to make such projections in general, but also because the rate of change, in this respect, reached an unpredictable level of rapidity in the last century.
Bach not only wrote scores of magnificent music, but lived in such difficult times, when there were no standard in the tuning system and his music had to sound equally well on almost any instrument. You can play Bach on a saxophone in a jazz ensemble and it will be still a masterpiece.
It has been said in the days of future glory, The Angelic Host will be singing Bach and playing Bach but God The Father, personally will be listening to Mozart.
I really enjoyed this concert and I enjoyed the relationship between organ and orchestra she played beautifully and she had great support from the director one thing I’d like to say is that nobody in the comments had a word to say about the harpsichord player not a full face and no acknowledgement that she was there too for me she was as much as good as the soloist on keeping with the tempo Thank you who ever you are
The harpsichord is only the B.C. (i.e. basso continuo). Nothing to speak about. As a student, I played it usque ad nausaeam. As a solist, I never touched it again: why sould I have done it? Any how, the girl plays terribly fast . Listen eventually some records of Georges Enesco playing or conducting (h-moll Messe!!) Bach.Het's authoritative.
Oh my God ! This masterpiece, "Bach's Harpsichord Concerto No 1 in D minor" was actually composed for Harpsichord, but in this incredible version we are able to hear an organ addition, and it doesn't sound like only an Harpsichord Concerto, but also sounds like an Organ & Harpsichord Concerto. Its the best classical composition adaptation and addition of a new instrument to a piece I've ever heard.
A splendid interpretation of one of Bach's masterpieces. The soloist, Iveta Apkalna and the great conductor Riccardo Minasi are a unit in thsi interpretation
Wonderful interpretation of the transcription writing by Marcel Dupré. This french organist has merged with genius the Vivaldi string and cello concerto and the bach’s transcription for organ!
I’m in love with this version, I’ve been playing it over and over. And now it has becoming a night ritual, before I go to sleep I enjoy a new concert everyday. Love this orchestra. And what an amazing production value, props to the sound engineers and camper crew who make these musicians shine even more.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Bach's Harpsichord Concertos also sound good with organ. Heck, you can play Bach on a synthesizer and it still sounds great!
Agreed.. Back can be p,ahead in tuned time cans and he would still best anyone else from the 18th century. This organ version is superb! The selection of stops is wonderful, too, and brings out so many new colors in the overall performance. J.S. Would like this version if his masterpiece.
Ah, che MERAVIGLIOSA esecuzione!!! Bravi tutti!!!
I think why she is looking so hard and strict is her concentration on her playing. If you make music and put your full concentration on the play of the music, you have no time to think about your looking, if you look nice or strict. I play the violin and I also sometimes look strict or angry during playing the instrument. Other people say to me sometimes , that I have looked strict or angry and that I could look nicer during the play. But I cannot take notice on my face look during the playing.
Beautiful, Celestial Sound J S Bach. The Sound recording engineers are phenomenal . I really always enjoy your productions. Thank you for your technical know how. Your recording quality expose the virtuosity of the artists to the maximum. Bravo. The camera work is also first class.
This is a remarkable performance! The music of Bach elevates my spirit to a realm far beyond earthly confines, with such joy-filled moments even during this difficult time with physical distancing!
just pure brilliance, really how MOVING this performance is. I am so extremely fond of this video, I have been watching it at least 20 times A DAY all the way since I found her a week ago. I am obsessed with this gorgeous woman and her T.A.L.E.N.T. Its not often you find such a pearl in music. If only I had started piano and organ earlier and had someone like her in my life to teach ..... This must be the epitome of being alive, thats how I imagine it to be like.
Heerlijke muziek!!!
Bach scholars would agree the most likely original version was intended for the organ as soloist before Bach transcribed it for the harpsichord. It shows very well here.
I have listened and enjoyed this concerto also in piano as well as in harpsichord... "UNSER VATER JS BACH" has no way not to sound divine and perfect. Congratulations for this outstanding performance.!
Exactly , that is the "tempo" for this BACH wonderfull concert , i've heard many version for harpchord and it is incdredible how fast they play . All comments are respectable and practically they have said all, i would like to say that this material acording to my orchestral scores i bought some years ago in Europe , BACH used the first movment of the concert in the introduction of the the "Cantata 146" , and what a great surprice, it is written for ORGAN....... BRAVO ! Frankfurt Radio Symphony.
Ge grote Bach!!!
i love musik but in my my 42 years on this planet i never realyzed that vilolin player s r the hardest head bangers ever ... respekt and ty 4 the good musik keep on rocking 4 the free world ; )
The first time I heard this great creation was by Murray Perahia on the piano and I was totally in awe. But now that I hear it in the way that Bach had possibly intended it to be heard (the organ), the other transcriptions pale in comparison. No one can out do the great master... the best one can do is try to be faithful to his conceptualization ! :)
I know I posted this earlier, but it is so powerful and represents how high humanity can rise above all the noise of politics. Listen and forget about our troubles for a few minutes and listen to what God has intended for us in this intensely beautiful performance of a Bach masterpiece.
Wundervoll! Gänsehaut pur! Großen Applaus an die Alle. Exzellenter Maestro, Exzellente Solistin! BRAVI TUTTI!💓
This is AMAZING! Bach's music (and to a certain extent, Vivaldi's, Händel's and Scarlatti's) has this pure mathematical quality that renders it able to be played by ANY timbre without ANY loss of quality nor sense!!!
Sheer beauty, delight and joy! Bach’s personality is music in and itself, so uniquely original! And that lovely, German-looking lady seems to embody the ethos of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries!
Really true, you wholly described only by a few words, Mrs. Apkalna somewhat too uptight German gothic looking, but anyway very very clever in the art of organist. A very pleasant and enjoyable performance.
