At least the organ was built during Bach's life (1733 - 1734).

@@RalphLooij Nee, zo heb ik dat niet willen stellen maar ik vroeg me eigenlijk af wat u bedoelde met: een van de beste 'Bach-orgels'. Aan welke criteria zou een dergelijk orgel (volgens u) moeten voldoen? Ik ben overigens een groot bewonderaar van orgelbouwer A.A. Hinsz en de kwaliteit van de instrumenten van zijn hand.

@@hendrikd56 Ach, eigenlijk moet je m'n opmerking niet te serieus nemen. M'n punt is dat Bach er voortreffelijk op klinkt, maar er zijn natuurlijk tal van andere orgels waar Bach ook goed op klinkt. Als je naar Sietze luistert heb je echter al snel het idee dat dit hét Bach-orgel moet zijn ;)

@@RalphLooij Ja, en met m'n opmerking over het bouwjaar van het orgel in Leens heb ik ook willen aangeven dat klankkleur en dispositie van de orgels wellicht ook toen al werden aangepast aan de toen geldende 'mode'. Zo zit er ook al een wezenlijk verschil tussen de verscheidene orgels die Hinsz gebouwd heeft in een tijdspanne van plm. 50jr. Om nog maar te zwijgen over de wijzigingen die in latere stadia werden aangebracht.

Personally I don't think the contrast is very big between Sietze's playing and Karosi's playing. Both very fine and historically informed interpreters.

@@RalphLooij Still, i think the way how they play Bach (interpretation) is very different. Not only in tempo, but also in ornamentation and phrasing. But i enjoy listening to both of them!

Hello, I confess that I did not know Bálint Karosi; I took the advice and went to see/hear these videos; I agree with Marcel's characterization: the interpretations are very different, in tempo, registration, phrasing, etc. I will be much less consensual than Marcel Mangnus and GK Failla - if only because I am not a professional organist -: the interpretation of Sietze de Vries is infinitely more pleasant to me( not "equally fine") than that of Bálint Karosi. Moreover, the gallery organ of the Petruskerk in Lens is not comparable to that used by Bálint Karosi; the choice of the instrument to interpret a work is also a signature... of the organist. Sietze de Vries is truly an exceptional organist, on Bach, but also for his improvisations, especially on the psalms.

@Michel NAUD Hello, one of the "benefits" of the pandemic was the time to listen to many organists. As well as Sietze de Vries and Balint Karosi, Evan Bogerd, Leo van Doeselaar, Minnie Veldman, Gert van Hoef, Johnathan Scott and others. Some of them on the Netherlands Bach Society channel. (I began listening to organ music after hearing a radio broadcast of an E. Power Biggs recording of Bach played on the famous Harvard University Flentrop organ). From Chicago, U.S.A.
