Apparently this was not composed by Bach, rather by his pupil Johann Gottlieb Goldberg (of the Goldberg variations). A harpsichord virtuoso and composer, he died quite young. Whether Bach "helped" his student with this wonderful work will never be known.

Beautiful! I played this sonata with my teacher back in the 1950s after hearing this recording of the Oistrakhs playing it - it is not easy to play but wonderful!

This musical work is truly idyllic and so wonderfully soul-soothing !!! I deeply loved it and I shall listen to it so often ,for it make a matchless mind- soothing setting!!!

That second movement... reminds me of Telemann.
