Before Ben took off his glasses nothing in my mind thought they were fake and after starting the video over I clearly see they were fake the whole time. the mind plays wonderful tricks.

I only knew they were fake because forever ago I watched one of their videos where he puts them on and talks about how sometimes he just likes wearing fake glasses, lol. I think one time was a quiz because he said he thought they might somehow make him smarter or that he does better on quizzes with them. Wish I could remember which one!

Hermione really has it rough at school her first couple years. First year: no friends, ron being mean, troll attack Second year: draco calls her slurs, she gets turned into a cat and misses weeks of school, gets petrified by the basilisk and misses more school Third year: Constantly stressed and increasingly irritable because of the Time-Turner

I always figured Myrtle died because your glasses don't ALTER the sight of the Basilisk. A mirror or water mirrors it. A ghost muddles the vision. Glasses however kinda make it worse, it lets you see the true sight of a Basilisk BETTER, unaltered.

I mean, that's still Altering the sight of it. It's 'better' for the wearer, sure, but it's distorting the true image. I mirror doesn't alter your sight of thing really either. No more than glasses would. Or a camera lens.

Seems like it would be restoring the true image and that Myrtle would have been safer if she left her glasses off, so her view of the eyes would have been blurred. I guess it becomes a question of whether the view itself is what is deadly, or the direct path between eyes is what is deadly. Either way, something doesn't fit.

@@SgtSupaman I mean, it's now a question of RL Biology vs Magic Logic XD People need glasses since their Natural Way of seeing the world is not to the normal of human capability. Glasses 'distort' the light enough that the 'flaws' the wearer has are accounted for. So, I'm basically overthinking things and now wondering if Glasses Wearers are immune to 'Sight' based magic naturally since their 'natural' isn't the 'statical norm' XD

An issue with Mytle and glasses isn't that she might have taken them off to cry, it's that she died because she left the stall to see who was in the room. It seems unlikely she wouldn't have put the glasses back on.

Although the prime minister isn't voted for, so really there kinda isn't a term for the prime minister, just for parliament, but convention states that a new parliament forms a new government and thus a new prime minister (or a new term for the same prime minister). However by law there's no limit for this. The new parliament can technically say the government is fine, just keep doing what you're doing. The whole position isn't even engrained in law weirdly enough. Technically there can just not be a prime minister. A prime minister is never chosen directly but appointed, that's what distinguishes it from a president. A prime minister is just a minister that is kind of the face of the government. De Facto a position of prestige and political power, since they are usually the head of the largest party and therefore quite politically influential, as well as the person that would do most of the high level international diplomacy, but De Jure it is a quite meaningless position, unlike for example the position of President in the US, where they have pretty significant De Jure powers. So technically there is no term limit for the prime minister at all, but in reality governments align with parliamentary elections. This is true for practically everywhere that has a parliamentary system, including almost all of Europe, with the notable exception of France, which has an elected president with fairly far reaching power.

...and when J argued AGAINST Ben saying that B wrote French ALPS, and that might not be correct. J is a very self centered person. He is willing to openly, publicly cheat, being nasty, and throw a tantrum just to get the win. I could not be a close friend with him, because such behavior irritates me beyond limits. Ben is a sweat, flexible person, who sometimes willingly gives up his win for the sake of his egoist brother.

Hypothesis. Maybe Riddle commanded Ginny to set the Basilisk on people, but Ginny was subconsciously fighting against the order. So her body came to a middle ground and set the Basilisk on people who are looking through things, thus only petrifying them.

Hm well I’m no Carlin but my guess to the first is no, I don’t think it would as the Ministry has no idea that Harry is at Grimmauld Place at the beginning of book 5(as evidenced by them sending his letter about the time change for his hearing to Privet Drive) despite people using magic all around him while he’s there.

Interesting! It is heavily implied that Veela Hair is significantly magically different to human hair because fluers wand core is Veela hair. Based on the scientific definition of speciation though, two different species are unable to mate and produce viable offspring. Therefore because we know fluer has kids, Veela and Human must be the same species.

I have the feeling that people gets petrified when looking at the basilisk through something that somehow distort the basilisk's eyes but looking through prescription glasses allows you to actually see the basilisk's eyes clearly and that's why Moaning Myrtle died

I bet Moaning Myrtle's glasses would have prevented her from getting the full blast of the basilisk's gaze but she wasn't wearing them when she was killed because she was crying so hard at the time

I was in beauty college one trick I learned when you were in a salon with a bunch of mirrors is that you can use them to see if somebody's coming up behind you. I still use it today whenever I drive I use them to see if there's anybody coming behind me in this glass of any stores.

Not related to the quiz's topic, but to correct J and Ben on one of their theories: Filch cannot be a poltergeist because there were previous caretakers, like one Apollyon Pringle that Molly mentions and others before him. Unless the poltergeist was changing forms of course, but Peeves doesn't so this one shouldn't too.
