Y’all should do a theory video on if Harry and Ron had gone to the Ule ball with their second picks. Was reading through goblet of fire again, and realized that Ron almost ended up going with Hermione, and Harry with Ginny, if they hadn’t been too late. I wonder if they had, would the relationships have been sped up, and would this have changed the story?

That would be interesting! There's a few things he's said that bothers me though so I don't watch his stuff as much as I used to, one of which was saying how he thought the Dumbledore and Harry getting the locket scene in the movies wasn't very good because "Dumbledore is just making random noises after drinking the potion" instead of what happened in the books, when.. that's not what was actually happening, lol. He literally kept asking Harry to kill him - he could have just used subtitles or something instead of being confidently wrong, lol. Also that adding Harry saying "but I am the chosen one" after Hermione was telling him Romilda was trying to smuggle him a love potion was "out of character" "really arrogant" and "something Harry would never say" when he very, very obviously said it as a joke and would have definitely been a snarky, jokey thing for book-Harry to say. Plus the amount of times I've heard him say things akin to "if anyone is a Harry Potter expert, I am" when discussing theories and it just comes off slightly arrogant when he's gotten quite a few things that are easily checked wrong? I'm sure he's a super nice person, but those things among a few others have absolutely bothered me. All just my opinion! Would be neat to see how he'd do on a quiz against these two though.

The original reason wizards used brooms was that it was a common item muggles would have in the home, and thus unlikely to bring suspicion. I think the reason they’re still used is it’s such a stereotype for what witches fly on that by itself would be a good enough cover.

I'm pretty sure that There are alarm clocks in the wizardingredients World. Ron actually tells harry that he would rather be woken up by an alarm clock when he uses levicorpus on him for the first time.

I think the Portkey thing was more that it was Dumbledore than because it was in his office. I suspect that one of the perks of being headmaster is being able to create portkeys that work for travel to and from the Hogwarts grounds. After all, Barty Crouch Jr, as Moody, had to modify the Portkey Dumbledore made for the final task of the Tri-Wizard Tournament to take the winner, Harry, to the Little Hangleton graveyard.

I'd say I'm about on par with J in terms of trivia, a bit better than him on some subjects and worse on others.

I looked up the etymology of Ottaline Gambol's name to see if there was a reason her name was picked, since there are characters whose names were picked specifically for their meaning, but Ottaline is a French name meaning "prospers in battle", and Gambol derives from the Old Norman word Gamall, meaning "old". I think I cool idea for a J Vs Ben would be you guys creating the questions. So basically, J would create 10 or so questions (depending on how long you want it to last) and Ben would need to answer those questions. The same is true in the opposite form. Ben creates 10 or more questions, and J needs to answer them. You could ask all questions from one person all at once, or you could alternate asking questions to each other. To win you would need to get the highest point value/highest percent correct. So if J gets 60% or 6/10, and Ben only gets 50% or 5/10, then J would win. I don’t know I just thought it could be a pretty cool idea. Sorry it’s so long just wanted to make my idea clear, also sorry if there are two comments by me about this, I added an original comment that I couldn’t find, so I just wanted to get my idea out there for sure.

why did Harry Ron and Hermione even go to the ministry in the seventh book in order to find the locket that Umbridge had? Wouldn’t it have made so much more sense for them to track down where she lives and break into her house which would be far less protected? Also, what if she hadn’t been wearing the locket that day? You could pretty much guarantee the lock it would be in her house while she was home, and they could stun her and alter her memory. It would have been so much easier! they probably could have even sent creature to break into her house and take it. Umbrage does not come from an old wizard and family, so it is highly unlikely that she would have her own house elf.

In regards to the Portis spell. *pushes up glasses* I don't think the complexity of the incantation equates to the difficulty of the spell. I think there are other unexplained components to spells that can make them difficult. Look at Apparating. There's no incantation and it's fairly difficult. And the incantations for transfiguration are usually pretty simply, but the spells are famously hard.

12:40 The thing with this is that obviously everything could be considered a muggle artefact, since muggles invented most things first. The point is that the Department of Magical Law Enforcement decided that a certain list of things are considered Muggle Artefacts, and carpets are one of those things. The reason brooms aren't, is because a racing broom is wildly different to a sweeping/cleaning broom (hence the fact they actually call them 'racing' brooms at times to specify). You wouldn't sweep the floor with a Firebolt, and you wouldn't ride on that broom in the cupboard. A racing broom has been manufactured with charms in place for it's purpose as a magical artefact, while a carpet was manufactured to be a carpet, and not a flying vehicle. I reckon you'd find a loophole in that law if you made the carpets yourself, with magic, applying the enchantments as you go. It's to stop wizards buying Muggle made, intended for use by muggles items, and enchanting them Probably also keeps the wizard economy afloat, given how much cheaper muggle things might be, especially with reparo, and charming being free Imagine a wizard buys a broken washing machine, charms it to wash stuff. Cleaning device = free/incredibly cheap, and also a potential hazard to muggles if it gets back into muggle circulation By making certain objects 'Muggle Artefacts', it decreases the crossover between the two worlds, - assisting the Statute of Secrecy - creates more demand for wizard made products, and allows them to better regulate enchanted objects. Racing brooms don't fall into that category because they are created specifically for charming, but if you enchanted a muggle broom to fly, that'd be against the law since you're enchanting a muggle object that might fall into muggle hands again and cause trouble (Think of the charmed tea set that Arthur has to deal with. It belonged to a witch, but got accidentally sold off, resulting in muggle injuries and the need for obliviations) I love the intricacies of the Wizarding World's infrastructure and society, you can work out so much from the tiny comments, the setting and relevant muggle history, it's really interesting

Question 11 is worded wrong... According to Hermione they apparated to Grimmald Place, but they were followed, so she took them to the Forest of Dean, and that was when Ron was splinched. Leaving Grimmald Place, not leaving the ministry.

About the brooms being defined as muggle artifacts, Quidditch Through Ages states that flying brooms are seperate from muggle ones because of their ability to fly, which doesn’t come from any spells.

Wait if there are no alarm clocks in hogwarts, how are students supposed to be in class at time? How do they wake up? Do they use the old 'nail and candle alarm thing'? And if so how are muggleborn wizards, used to loud streets and loud alarm clocks, supposed to wake up from that?

I find it weird that simple pens are too hi tech and muggly but trains are A-OK
