God the US needs more skaters in the mold of Johnny Weir. I'm tired of our excessively masculine jump machines. It's a pretty sport, y'all have dance training, so why can't you flaunt it!?
We need different talents on ice. If everyone skates lyrical it would be boring. Some of us prefer the manly type of skating in the US today, Nathan Chen, and also appreciates the variety that someone like Jason Brown brings on the ice.
R M I disagree. This time period right here, it was not a jumping contest and look how popular the sport was, I also blame the scoring system changes on the loss of popularity too. Skating was beautiful to watch then and drew in huge crowds. Now the arenas are barely half filled.
I remember them talking about Johnny so bad when they found out he was gay then tried to insult his skating cause of it saying how their needs to be more masculinity on the ice it was so ridiculous the American obsession with macho-ness even when it makes no sense at all.
Weir is such an outstanding creative talent. He took the baton from John Curry and Cousins and today we seen his influence on Yuzuru. Yuzuru owes a lot to Weir - from his style and his lines, to his costumes and choice of music, even the moment at the end of the programme where he touches the ice and puts his hand to his mouth - Yuzuru has similar moments in his programmes.
Are you kidding me.....what a wonderful performance........absolutely perfect.....if judges do not give him perfect score....then they have a problem.....love you Johnny
Like Yuzuru Hanyu, he had a perfect body, thin and graceful...That's why we can say that they are complete ice skaters because their technical bases are great and their sense of artistry is mesmerizing !! just that I like to see in iceskating. Amazing Johnny Weir !!
a figure skater from a different mold......an ice performer....and that is what the sport ought to be....too often it looks like gymnastics on ice.....Johnny grabs the audience...and entertains....he did and does represent figure skating well...BUT certainly different..... bravo
Such a beautiful program. Johnny Weir skates dramatically and beautifully with such beautiful, long lines. And, he embodies a kind of excitement that is edgy.
No me extraña que Yuzuru admirara desde niño a este patinador. Estoy deseando que le salga este programa como lo tiene en su mente en esta temporada. Este programa le va muy bien a la personalidad de Yuzuru.
i've got to agree. I love Yuzuru as well, but nobody - ever - will surpass him emotionally, for me. Well, at least it's hard to imagine this. And i've dropped watching fs when Johnny quit.
SUPERB BRAVO 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🌟⭐️ And WHAT A WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE ‼️‼️ PERFECT TIMING, ON PAR WITH THE MUSIC, EFFORTLESSLY JUMPS, SPINS, TWISTS ‼️‼️‼️ HE SHOULD GET THE MEDAL FOR THIS 🌟‼️‼️ ABSOLUTELY. NO. MISTAKES IN ANYTHING....I’M blown away... WOW 😲
I had a kinda bad opition about him before I saw this. He was a great skater, so gentle to and on the ice, you almost can't hear the blades on the ice, that's how controlled he uses his force
You gotta feel for Timothy Goebel, such a great skater but battling in an era of Titans, he just kept getting overshadowed, which is understandable when you go up against something like this or the like of Alexei Yagudin.
